I'd love to see this work well but what happens every time is that fricking moronic israeli trash make video games that are less complicated and work worse than the physical games somehow.

I just wish there was something that emulated pen and paper feel with improvised minis + dice rolls while being very light and easy to use.

      Why

Why not? I like having the least amount of set art and assets in my games as possible because they limit imagination and the possibilities of the genre. I just want a sleek and fast emulator of some sheets of paper, dice and the likes.

Well, obviously if my group can plat offline we play offline just like this, but I want to have a similar experience online. All the RPG software I know is nothing like what I want.

what’s stopping you from using Roll20 with blank graph pages, the free tokens and basic die rolls, exactly?

Tabletop Simulator has this with 3d objects, and you can put a grid on a table and draw on it freeform, but importing any custom character sheets is a pain in the ass.

That game was eventually not different from other card games. It is a card game.

That's what games like Hearthstone are. They're mostly just card games, but have some effects that would be very annoying to adjudicate on a real table.

    can I ask..

why hasnt someone made a turnbased mod for Total Warhammer that puts a base on every unit and basically lets you play WHFB in it? Possibly even online?

Most likely answer is engine limitations. Turning RTS into TBS isn't something I'd even consider.

D&D 4E tried this and the developer ended up going on a killing spree with fuzzy handcuffs in his trunk. You can't make this shit up.

How many does it take to be counted as a spree? He only killed his wife, her lover and himself.

I've been playing SOVL recently after seeing it recommended on here. It's basically 6e WHFB with alternating activations - a little janky right now but the dev is actively working on it and adding new stuff all the time.

Moonbreaker is currently one of the only games in the space that aims to truly replicate the tabletop wargame experience - a space opera land skirmish, specifically - in a native virtual space. You don't just have the game itself, with the static figures who otherwise talk and bounce around the field, but there's also a full painting suite that lets you customize your figures the same way you would painting a real figure.
