Laundering, last money draining effort before top management retires
Not even the biggest Snoys will buy this useless fricking thing.
They bought PSVR2 and then complained how there's no games for and how useless it is.
They will buy this android tablet.
Snoys are just this weak of a consoomer group.
No one I know with a PS5, including me, is buying this. Although some uninformed morons may buy this thinking it's a PSP or something.
The PSVR2 also didn't even sell well.
The PSVR2 was a masterclass in being a fricking moron
>"Hey we made a VR headset for PlayStation that doesn't rely on the fricking PS Move"
>"You still can't use it on your PC and furthermore you can't play any of your old PSVR games despite some really good titles being exclusive to it that could use the new tech and hardware to be optimized"
>"That'll be $500"
Iron Man VR, a former PSVR exclusive runs better on the fricking Quest 2 than it ever did on its original platform and yet it never occurred to Jim Ryan to have some kind of backwards compatibility especially when the game that literally spurned the end of JapanStudio for their company to replace with Team Asobi was ALSO a PSVR exclusive.
Uhhh dude, VR is the future of gaming. I know I said that 7 years ago but any year now it will be true. Trust me, bro.
>VR is the future of gaming.
Gimmicks always are the future
It won't be like 3D TVs bro, trust the plan.
They are catching up to nintendo with their mega hit new console, the WiiU.
i would unironically be excited if they added wii u-like functionality for the ps5, with the second screen able to show different stuff from what's on the TV. asymmetrical couch multiplayer is great.
for 200 bucks though? no fricking way lmao
I can already see all the kids and uninformed people buying this shit because they think it's a portable PS5 and getting apeshit angry when they realise they need a PS5 in the room for this thing to work
They're thinking "let's rip off the switch because it's completely raping us in sales"
Jim Ryan wanted to try and rip off Nintendo but because portable console graphics are bad, he ripped off the Wii U instead because "Now good PS5 graffix can be in your hands". To differentiate it he also made it so you require proprietary headphones for it, made the battery life dogshit (DuelSense battery life), and made it so you require a constant wifi connection on the same network as your PS5 to use it.
Calm down.
alright who's got the mr krabs pic
>we want a system that the japanese audience can play during their train rides
It can't even do that though. It needs good WiFi.
That's why he said Japanese. Japans public wifi is better than your $200 home wired connection.
>Japans public wifi is better than your $200 home wired connection
no it's not
Anon you don't seem to understand, this thing is a Remote Play machine, you can't play it on a train. You NEED to be on the same wifi network as your PS5 in order to use it.
I choose not to understand because I don't particularly care about the sony switch
idk I bet they can
Anon, it's not even a Switch, it's a fricking Wii U gamepad with worse battery life, less functionality and a $200 price tag
now now, the wii u gamepad only lasted like 3 hours source is i have one and it sucks. this is supposed to last at least 6 so that's already a mondo win. dont deny fax just cuz its a snoy thing lolololol
i can imagine using it to copy and delete games while taking a dump (not really i just bring my phone to the toilet)
>"at least six"
More like "at most six" because this thing is gunning for DualSense battery life which means 3-4 hours of play more realistically and that's just connecting to wifi and streaming, fricking thing doesn't even have Bluetooth. If you really need Remote Play for your PS5, you're better off getting a Backbone for your phone and if using a portable DualSense is really your big sell, a fricking controller clip for your phone would probably work better than this stupid thing and not cost $200
>at most six"
already at most triple the wii u tablet, good for sorny they figured how to make a controller with a screen
I really doubt it. Even when they advertise this what they talk about mostly is using it at home, because it doesn't need to be just fast. For a good exp the connection also has to be stable. And the best experience for that is is being close to the actual PS5, preferably on the same network.
You don't technically need to be on the same network, but it'd probably be unplayable if you aren't.
>You NEED to be on the same wifi network as your PS5 in order to use it.
No you don't moron
I really doubt it can handle streaming like that in a decent way. Especially in a subway or train.
Will be shit. Edge still most sold controller so i dont know who buys this shit
Can't you remote play your PS5 to your vita? What's the point of this?
To see if there's anyone stupid enough to buy it, I guess
You can remote play on a fricking phone. Buy a $99 Backbone PS Edition and you basically have this thing, plus bluetooth and 5G. Only missing thing are the "adaptive" triggers.
ps controllers natively bluetooth with phones, get the dock clip and you've got a nvidia shield
I got monkey pawed so hard for all those times I wished sony didn't drop out of the handheld market, at least this is all I need to be sure they aren't making a handheld ever again.
this is jim ryan we're talking about, vita 2 christmas launch, no launch titles
>Old enough to remember when they released the VITA TV and the PS3 3D TV
>Still have my PS3 TV and it works perfectly
Wait for it to crash and burn, buy it for $80 when it inevitably goes on sale. Snoy has no idea how to market, price, and support their hardware.
Wait people bought 3d tvs? I was like 8 or 9 when 3d was the big thing and I have no recollection of it other than the news anchor on the local news that stole 3d glasses from the theater he watched toy story 3 at
My dad bought when they came out. LG one that cost like 1k. Big waste of money and we ended up throwing it out.
If you had to upgrade from an old tv or your new one broke you would get a 3DTV out of necessity if it was on sale and even then people would just get a regular LCD but that gimmick never grew on anyone.
It is a 32 inch Playstation branded TV that came with 2 pairs of clunky 3D glasses and a Motorstorm game. The idea was that splitscreen was a thing of the past and that each person would have a full screen to play on using the same unit. A cool use case for it, buy they never factored in that people don't just sit straight in front of the TV and don't move the entire time.
The irony is it now has my Switch, Google TV, and XboneX plugged into it on my work desk.
I bought it open box at a best buy I worked at back then for $70 afew months after they went on sale and it's been working ever since.
We never got a regular 3D TV, this was a weird outlier.
Why does every handheld have to be frickhueg nowadays?
People want bigger and better performance so the handhelds are gonna stay big
Also people just like bigger screens. Look at phones. They're huge now
It's starting to get legitimately comical
iphone 5s and 6s screen sizes were perfect there needs to be some kind of law against the ridiculous increase of screen sizes for phones
It's the obsession with higher resolution and visual fidelity, higher res is pointless battery usage on a smaller screen
*costs $10 in you're path*
>plays genshin impact, fortnite, COD
I'm just realizing PS5 and android share the same library
I always wondered what it must be like to be an ideas guy. That guy with a silver tongue who can persuade anyone into investing a billion dollars into a failed product, then proceed to do absolutely nothing for the rest of the year while waiting for his paycheck.
In a lot of companies to get promoted you have to come up with an idea. Which how you get things like Stadia, Google Glass, or this probably. It creates an incentive for bad ideas.
Wait this thing has the same price as a switch lite? Why?
For the price of this you can also buy a new monitor exclusively for your PS5 and just mount it near the shitter
wait, so this thing is not snoy's next ps vita but just a tablet to play your ps5 through a stream?
how long did google stadia last again? lmao
Oh this makes Stadia look futuristic, it doesn't even do cloud gaming. It's just a dedicated Remote Play device
The funny part is that they want the acronym to be PSP, jimbo really despises anything pre ps4 era.
Portal even sounds like Portable, it's a bad name overall
>The most normal nintentroon reaction to a Sony product.
calm down, fanboy, it's a bad product
>incredibly niche product
>$200
This is some exec's pet project.
>No Bluetooth
>Can only works with special Sony proprietary BS
Legit moronic
>we want the Wii U audience
So basically a tablet that only streams PS5 games? Why not just get a tablet?
because it is ps branded, that makes all the difference.
I wonder if it'll have access to the android backend it's running on.
If so, it'll probably be a solid emulation device.
If not, it'll be a complete shitheap since to my knowledge you won't even be able to usb-c to usb-c it into a real ps5, it's JUST for wi-fi streaming.
>If so, it'll probably be a solid emulation device.
you think so? you can find handheld shit that can emulate ps2/wii for less than 200$ these days, this thing is built for streaming so I doubt the specs will be crazy
You can find handheld shit that can emulate PAL shit with regular drops to ~40 FPS (with frameskip) for under $200. You're looking at $250/300 used note10+ as a baseline for reasonable NTSC performance for ps2/wii/gc games.
I'm not htinking in terms of that though, I'm thinking as just a gen 5 and below device. For that I guess you could get like a retroid 2s or something, but I like the form factor of the ps controller so I think I'd rather just spend the money on this since that $99 pricepoint quickly balloons up to $200 with shipping.
Hahaha
>still no games
The same thing they was thinking with their dildo.
>Waah, nintendo is mogging us in console sales how are they doing it!?
>Games? No it's not the games we have better games, it has to be their GIMMICK.
So convinced that having no games is fine and that the Wii/Switch are only selling better because of waggle/portability
