compared to the general population of vidya, pretty low. mmos are one of the few genres in which large player bases are a must, therefore they have to be as widely appealing as possible. you can't have too much depth or have the gate be kept too hard. the msq is as easy as it is for that reason. and its still too hard for some people. lol
there are a few notable outliers though. world first raiding has some pretty difficult puzzle solving elements to it. the dudes who broke the island sanctuary code and made a spreadsheet even a tard like me can use. fashion report, from my understanding, was pretty obtuse at the start but that community made it very easy to do. big fishing has puzzle elements and requires a deep understanding of its mechanics. parsing and calculating stat weights. even verminion has autists calculating metas.
but these only apply to those who figure all this shit out at the start, the tips of the spear. in all of the above, most mmo players will simply not engage with content until a guide is written for it. this could be branded as them being dumb, or just being lazy. i think its a mixture of both

Honest question, why does xiv seem to lack streams compared to other mmo. I know twitch is horrible metric to judge success or failure, but it seems that wow and other always pull far more viewers even though the content is basically just mmo shit.
Most MMOs have little to no viewership, the only one that does retain viewers is WoW and that's because of one key point, drama. Drama both in the community and the gameplay, people want to see arguments, head butting, and people failing. If you've seen another MMO in recent years with viewers I can guarantee you every streamer had !Drops in their title.
FFXIV is overloaded with drama, though, ESPECIALLY when it comes to streamers. You should see the autismo screeching that happens when a streamer doesn't cry at the right spot in the MSQ.
It's really not, there game isn't built upon the foundation of disliking the other side, pvp isn't a big deal, raiding is rather calm and not FOMO, and you don't have shit like keys to cause problems. Beyond that the story is explained to you as you go along so there's no lore autism either, everything is pretty straightforward and enjoyable.
WoW is unique because it's built upon a foundation of drama and the community thrives upon it, not that it's necessarily a bad thing, that's just what it is.

I played in a large EU FC since beta and the only "drama" I encountered on the entire server came from 2 people who transferred from and then back to Balmung.

The fun of XIV content comes from doing your rotation while doing fight mechanics, and communicating/having fun with your friends/group while doing it.
None of these 3 things translates over when you watch a stream.
Furthermore, the story in XIV is actually pretty good (especially relative to other MMOs). So even when a new expansion or patch comes out people don't want to watch streamers because they want to experience the story first-hand and not be spoiled. So the biggest prospective twitch viewerbase is heavily diluted during the most active point in the game/patch.
The biggest boom in viewership is during savage/ult progression when a new tier/ult comes out. This is content that 99% of people will never experience first hand and does translate directly into viewership. But this happens 4-5 times per expansion only, with the 1-2 ultimates being significantly higher than the 3 savage tiers.

Why would you want to do that? FFXIV's NG+ isn't like other games, it's just letting you rexperience the cutscenes and handful of "click on purple cloud" and piss-easy solo duties. It is objectively a waste of your time. You could play another game in that same time, another JRPG even (which almost all have better written stories than FFXIV's).
Honestly I really, really don't care much for Alphinaud as our right-hand man. He had his arc in HW, and he did stuff on his own quite well with ShB even if it was mostly just being angry at a fat guy. Starting to feel like 6.55 and whoever were working on DT were two separate sub-teams. Hell, the fact that Alphinaud specifically was hidden in the first two trailers literally just out of view but ever so slightly visible in the last panning shot tells me something is VERY fricky.
DPS does about roughly double tank and healer damage, if tanks/healers did no damage they would have to redesign encounters to actually give them something else to do and they clearly don't want to structure the game like that, so everyone does damage
tanks do about 60-70% actually depending on roles / encounter and yes having encounters giving supports something to actually do would improve the game especially when healers have been downgraded to pressing one button for damage

The worst part of the msq for me, besides the countless instances of unskippable emote animation during normal (unvoiced) dialogue, is the bizarre lack of gameplay. ffxiv has such well-designed class abilities and flavor, but then in what is arguably the primary content of the game, you barely ever get to press any buttons. and when you do, there's a good chance that you will NOT be the character you created and spent hours progressing, but instead some other character with a watered-down, 4-button version of a job. and don't even think about completing those with a friend! (in an mmo...). all i can remember thinking during the msq was "i would KILL for a "Slay 8 Boars" quest!" why are there even enemies in the open world? why am i running around to talk to 7 people who are all three feet away between cutscenes where i was and still am talking to those same 7 people already?
The msq feels like it was developed by a team that doesn't even speak to the rest of the ffxiv devs. this incongruity is the biggest shock for me about ffxiv, coming from other mmos, rpgs, and just... games in general. it makes ffxiv simultaneously one of my most and least favorite games, and i can only imagine that it is keeping tons of players from sticking with this game. i cannot imagine a typical gen z gamer sticking around for the egregious amount of hoops this game makes you jump through for little to no reward. it's as if this game has somehow completely ignored the past 10+ years of game design do's and don'ts
The story is great, but it absolutely could (and perhaps should) be made entirely optional or set aside to something like the unending journey book. dungeons and other content could unlock by level, like most games in this genre. In general, the biggest weakness of ffxiv are the elements that exist just to take up time and hold the player hostage. they are far too obvious, and for people who value efficiency and/or their time, they are incredibly frustrating

You are free to do whatever you want, i would suggest that if it bothers you THAT much you might want to not play the game. We've had worse voice acting before, recently at that, hearing the scion VAs do poor accents in the alliance raids was not great for starters.
The game has had poor voice actors in the past that got replaced. We both know Sena didn't earn his position through talent and hardwork. The individual has proven that they aren't fit for the role (and is generally a rotten person to begin with).

compared to the general population of vidya, pretty low. mmos are one of the few genres in which large player bases are a must, therefore they have to be as widely appealing as possible. you can't have too much depth or have the gate be kept too hard. the msq is as easy as it is for that reason. and its still too hard for some people. lol
there are a few notable outliers though. world first raiding has some pretty difficult puzzle solving elements to it. the dudes who broke the island sanctuary code and made a spreadsheet even a tard like me can use. fashion report, from my understanding, was pretty obtuse at the start but that community made it very easy to do. big fishing has puzzle elements and requires a deep understanding of its mechanics. parsing and calculating stat weights. even verminion has autists calculating metas.
but these only apply to those who figure all this shit out at the start, the tips of the spear. in all of the above, most mmo players will simply not engage with content until a guide is written for it. this could be branded as them being dumb, or just being lazy. i think its a mixture of both

Most MMOs have little to no viewership, the only one that does retain viewers is WoW and that's because of one key point, drama. Drama both in the community and the gameplay, people want to see arguments, head butting, and people failing. If you've seen another MMO in recent years with viewers I can guarantee you every streamer had !Drops in their title.
MMOs by nature are not great to watch.
FFXIV is overloaded with drama, though, ESPECIALLY when it comes to streamers. You should see the autismo screeching that happens when a streamer doesn't cry at the right spot in the MSQ.
It's really not, there game isn't built upon the foundation of disliking the other side, pvp isn't a big deal, raiding is rather calm and not FOMO, and you don't have shit like keys to cause problems. Beyond that the story is explained to you as you go along so there's no lore autism either, everything is pretty straightforward and enjoyable.
WoW is unique because it's built upon a foundation of drama and the community thrives upon it, not that it's necessarily a bad thing, that's just what it is.

The fun of XIV content comes from doing your rotation while doing fight mechanics, and communicating/having fun with your friends/group while doing it.
None of these 3 things translates over when you watch a stream.
Furthermore, the story in XIV is actually pretty good (especially relative to other MMOs). So even when a new expansion or patch comes out people don't want to watch streamers because they want to experience the story first-hand and not be spoiled. So the biggest prospective twitch viewerbase is heavily diluted during the most active point in the game/patch.
The biggest boom in viewership is during savage/ult progression when a new tier/ult comes out. This is content that 99% of people will never experience first hand and does translate directly into viewership. But this happens 4-5 times per expansion only, with the 1-2 ultimates being significantly higher than the 3 savage tiers.
They should rework Verminion into a turn based dungeon crawler.

tbh tanks and healers do way too much damage in this game, what is the point of dps if they're only slightly above the other roles
DPS does about roughly double tank and healer damage, if tanks/healers did no damage they would have to redesign encounters to actually give them something else to do and they clearly don't want to structure the game like that, so everyone does damage
tanks do about 60-70% actually depending on roles / encounter and yes having encounters giving supports something to actually do would improve the game especially when healers have been downgraded to pressing one button for damage
mentors are usually morons, so no surprises there

The worst part of the msq for me, besides the countless instances of unskippable emote animation during normal (unvoiced) dialogue, is the bizarre lack of gameplay. ffxiv has such well-designed class abilities and flavor, but then in what is arguably the primary content of the game, you barely ever get to press any buttons. and when you do, there's a good chance that you will NOT be the character you created and spent hours progressing, but instead some other character with a watered-down, 4-button version of a job. and don't even think about completing those with a friend! (in an mmo...). all i can remember thinking during the msq was "i would KILL for a "Slay 8 Boars" quest!" why are there even enemies in the open world? why am i running around to talk to 7 people who are all three feet away between cutscenes where i was and still am talking to those same 7 people already?
The msq feels like it was developed by a team that doesn't even speak to the rest of the ffxiv devs. this incongruity is the biggest shock for me about ffxiv, coming from other mmos, rpgs, and just... games in general. it makes ffxiv simultaneously one of my most and least favorite games, and i can only imagine that it is keeping tons of players from sticking with this game. i cannot imagine a typical gen z gamer sticking around for the egregious amount of hoops this game makes you jump through for little to no reward. it's as if this game has somehow completely ignored the past 10+ years of game design do's and don'ts
The story is great, but it absolutely could (and perhaps should) be made entirely optional or set aside to something like the unending journey book. dungeons and other content could unlock by level, like most games in this genre. In general, the biggest weakness of ffxiv are the elements that exist just to take up time and hold the player hostage. they are far too obvious, and for people who value efficiency and/or their time, they are incredibly frustrating

You are free to do whatever you want, i would suggest that if it bothers you THAT much you might want to not play the game. We've had worse voice acting before, recently at that, hearing the scion VAs do poor accents in the alliance raids was not great for starters.
The game has had poor voice actors in the past that got replaced. We both know Sena didn't earn his position through talent and hardwork. The individual has proven that they aren't fit for the role (and is generally a rotten person to begin with).
