What is the best way to play through Final Fantasy VII? I have never played through a 3D Final Fantasy game other than XIV but I have played I-VI.

a physical copy of FF7 on a real PS1 and CRT TV
these
if you cant do that then ninostyle and remako
i saw a mod with voiceacting and it was the dumbest fricking shit i have ever heard.
i believe he's working on another mod like that for ffix lol
Just looked it up and honestly it sounds pretty decent even though I only play nip games in niponese. Think they did the best job on the female characters.
>physical
LOL, emulate it and play on a crt if you can. ps1 games need load screen removers badly.
>/vr/ is leaking
xD
This but if that's unattainable, then PC with some fixes that make it closer to the PS1 original.
if you mean the original you should play it on your ps1 with your original copy on a crt
Play the original on steam
Just play Remake/Rebirth it's the better game.
Steam + 7th Heaven Mod Manager. I'd recommend playing vanilla your first time but you can still use 7th Heaven's game driver for QoL improvements like borderless windowed mode and xinput support.
Be sure to download the FFNx FF7Music mod though because the PC port has a shitty gimped soundtrack.
Is there any mod that fixes the music sync for Cloud's backstory?
>7th Heaven's game driver for QoL
What is this? Do you just launch the game through the mod manager?
Retroarch + Beetle PSX core (software renderer) 1x resolution with integer scaling and a CRT+NTSC shader on a 1440p or 4K monitor
Don't play this game without a CRT shader or on a real CRT it's awful otherwise
>its like I'm really in 1997 again!
The 3D models are supposed to reasonably lend into the 2D backgrounds
lolwut? even back in my shitty 140p CRT TV back in the 90s, it was obvious as hell what was a 3d model u can interact with, and what was a non intractable prerenderd background.
Why do CRT shaders have that weird glowiness? I use real CRT's and white phosphors don't blend into the phosphors around them at all
CRTs did not look like this.
Open the screenshots in a new tab and click once to view unscaled
The church looks like a work of art with CRT shader and absolute shit without it
No shader
Popeye=soul. Even shitty gacha undestood that.
>CRT filters
shit
duckstation+ff7 rom
Just emulate it, no mods. If you do use the PC version make sure it has the original PS1 music (idk if they fixed it or not).
Does the Switch version have a shader filter?
Duckstation + Retranslation by GreenGoblin: https://drive.google.com/file/d/11sm0-g0P60FyTN6Sg-9XVsUy8VfdApdn/view
Not for retranslation, but for the sheer amount of bugfixes bundled.
Just play the Steam version, set it to run at 800x600 or 1024x768 if you don't want the characters to look too high res next to the blurry backgrounds. Make sure to go into your GPU driver settings and set resolution scaling to fit and not stretch. Don't fall for the muh emulation CRT filter clown.
Steam with the swv mod
ps1 version + RGB CRT.
If you're emulating use beetle SW
