The way it's directed, structured and paced, the dialogue and performances.
The absurd shit that happens in it is always somewhat grounded with enough self-awareness.
The only scene that I wasn't sold on was after this one (can't find the exact clip):
Where Dad storms into Davidson's office, which I found a bit too goofy and forced (main offender, the performance of the guy who played Davidson).
It's just all-around a good, well made film.
Whether it was a fluke or not is irrelevant.
