the open world leads to trivial, empty, samey, repetitive and unmemorable level designs.
there's a billion genres where open world can do wonders and stealth isn't one of them
Phantom pain was my first MGS game
I didn't realize how stupid and nonsensical everything was
How can you homosexuals enjoy this? It's like WWE drama in a video game
>I didn't realize how stupid and nonsensical everything was
That's part of the charm of the franchise. It is like a fever dream of a japanese guy who feel asleep on the couch watching commando.
>Highly replayable
Replayable yes, but I did all of the Side Ops 100% stealth with no Reflex and I am NEVER going to do that again. Those Side Ops missions were 95% filler and weren't worth playing through.
> stealth game with bad level design
it really is just a bad idea to slap this kind of a game in a open world
ground zeroes had amazing level design, they just unfortunately started with a faulty premise and refused to abandon it
the game just gains nothing from being open world and a ton to lose
and yes the story is a fricking mess and the how the game is structured also contributes to how bad it is, as it messes with the pacing
these games need to be lot's smaller to pack a punch how kojima used to do it and he knew what he was doing
i apreciate him trying new things but he really needs to reel it back a bit, his ambition has grown what he's able to control
I dropped it after a couple hours because I realized it was just going to be another game where I crouch walk through tall grass choking guys out from behind for 60+ hours and I lost all interest.
The mechanics and gameplay are fantastic as usual for Kojimbo games, however the pacing and story of the game fall completely flat and aren't that interesting past 2-3 hour makr. Great 8/10 game.
That's every Kojima game. Death Stranding was so good because they dropped the pretense of story after hour 3 and you just frick off across the country. I was annoyed af at the story sequences but pushed through and it turned out so damn good.
TPP is intentionally unsatisfying and unfinished in order to give the player a sense of unanticipated and permanent loss, a "phantom pain", if you will
PW and MGSV are like slot machines. You get dropped into these little 5 minute missions to stick people to balloons and then rinse/repeat. But there's no greater good, no just cause. It's mindless.
It's funny because every mission has properly drawn out borders for hotzones. Seems like you could have easily cut out the open world and had it be more in line with PW. MB didn't need to exist either. Could have just had the chopper be the portable HQ.
MGSV is on my backlog but I've played nearly every other MGS mainline title; I do wish they would have a revamped "finished" definitive edition or something that would address the issues or what was left out/rushed.
Also, for MGSV what counts toward your rank for a given mission? Do you have to do it all in one playthrough (ie I hear some early missions have secret objectives you need gear from way later in the game to achieve, like the fulton balloon vehicle grabber ) or is it cumulative (ie you do the basic core missions one playthroughhh then later and do side/special ones etc)? Also how much does time count? I assume that the whole "don't kill anyone, no alarms" thing is necessary too for max rank or best unlocks etc. Do you have to do it all with low time, all core and special/secret objectives, no kills, no alarms etc... in a single playthrough?
It was a massive let down for people who got too hyped, but a perfectly fine game for everyone else.
Alot like spore.
>a lot like spore
damn... i got burned bad by both games lol
It has come to.
Ganker has cum too
learn to communicate without wojaks
People who hate MGSV don't like videogames.
reddit and / or troony meme
Kojima can't suffer enough.

>he doesn't like WWE drama
how gay are you?
So you were the kids buying action figures
got that wrong
You were to cool and manly for action figures at 6? You were out learning how to become a wheelwright or something?
I veered in to construction toys

literally no better than your annual ubisoft trash, you have to be a really huge kojimadrone to enjoy mgs5
ive got 180 hours in and 30 hours in ground zeroes and its the only kojima game i've played, unless rising counts as one
It was an objective downgrade of MGS4.
>Highly replayable
lol, i guess it's replayable in the same way that a FIFA is replayable.

moronic fricking image. die
No game involving stealth is replayable so neither.

Surely it had nothing to do with kojima being fired and his unfinished game pushed out the door the same day.
why are all these shitty wojak memes always written by ESL animals
brain fog
x go brrr is one of the unfuniest memes of all time
MGS just lost me after Peacewalker

Why are MGSV fans so butthurt that most people don't agree with them? If anything, take a bit of pride that you aren't a conformist for once.
>tfw the ruski says poyo~ over the radio
AYE IZHEOKAY

Not finna lie msgv is my first game in the series and it Kinda slaps. I’m currently at that human torch homie. Do the other games be bussin ong.
Its the best ‘video game’ ever made. There’s not much point talking about it on /v tho, the people who dislike it don’t enjoy games anyway.
I really liked the ending, I hope we never see anything metal gear related ever again
After Metal Gear Survive, me neither. I hope Konami goes bankrupt focusing on pachinko and gambling. But we all know that isn't going to happen.
That was my first mass effect and I liked it
PW doesn't get enough hate, piece of shit game.
