what is the obsession with this pig slop of a game?
>f-filtered by the difficulty
it is difficult in the same way that i wanna be the guy is difficult. much like every other souls games, it relies on unintuitive or cheap surprise tactics to kill you the first time you see a boss move or even worse, trash like reading button inputs
i don't even need to mention the complete lack of story, the mostly empty open world or the terrible pacing of the overall game, especially post fire giant.
is it literally just people pretending to like a game because they fear being called a "casual"? it's not like the games are hard, there are videos of people playing the games deathless with DDR pads because its literally one of the easiest games in existence once you've seen the initial trial and error bullshit.
a good thidr person action combat game teaches you things that you build on over the course of the game and increase the difficulty as you master the system, not just throw out random bullshit every fight that takes zero skill besides "have you seen this before, if not, get hit really hard or die, if so, dodge with iframes"
SotET goty and no amount of posting can change that.
>trash like reading button inputs
>REEEE YOU WERE SUPPOSED TO LET ME SPAM FLASKS
>BAD GAME DESIGN
>decide to wait for opening to heal
>boss instantly cancels its down time to punish you
the only consistent heal strat in this game is running to the other side of the arena
>an opening to heal
>the “opening” in question is the boss staring straight at me
Being in neutral is not an opening, are you an idiot? Do it after they do an attack with a bit of recovery, like some heavy ground slam or something.
they'll halt their recovery period in order to hit in response to a heal in a way that doesn't even happen had you swung at them instead.
you've been seething about this game this for two years, it's time to stop and do something more productive
sounds like you got filtered
>it is difficult in the same way that i wanna be the guy is difficult
It isn't.
Next thread.
really? i wanna be the guy relies on obfuscated information the first time you do a screen, aka, this piece of ground will drop out from underneath me and it's literally impossible to know that so you die.
but once you know it, you just have to jump over it like any other gap.
souls/elden ring is the same. the boss that jumps up in the air, instead of doing a normal arc that you can read intuitively, then decides to hover in the air for exactly long enough so that if you dodge roll at a normal time, you will get hit and it's literally impossible to know that until you've seen it, but not that you know it, it's so easy to dodge that a random egirl can do it on a DDR pad.
i don't see a difference. it's extremely boring compared to something like monster hunter (pre world) or even sekiro which is the same developer.
>You know knowing the move set of an enemy you've never fought is not a "cheap surprise", it is how learning works.
if that was the case, why wouldn't I be complaining about this in other games? why did i find bosses in monster hunter fair? why did i find bosses in sekiro fair? why did i find bosses in nier fair?
>If you want enemies to just sit there and eat your magic missiles, you don't want a challenge at all.
i don't want them to do that, i just don't want them to start an animation and immediately cancel it because i did something when they otherwise wouldn't cancel it.
>It's the best open world in 3D gaming
by what standard? there's virtually nothing going on in it besides a few stationary NPCs. it's pretty, but it's mostly barren unless you think *insert 20 mild variations of this stone dungeon with the little imp statues* is amazing. its as bland and uninteresting as breath of the wild
>but you are just lazy and bad.
then why did i beat it comfortably, even without using the cheap bullshit tactics a lot of people use like mimic tear or spamming animation lock arts? could it be that i just think it's bad (because it is)
>if that was the case, why wouldn't I be complaining about this in other games?
You probably do
>why did i find bosses in monster hunter fair?
Probably because you have brain damage
>why did i find bosses in sekiro fair?
If you think Elden Ring is unfair but fricking Sekiro isn't, you haven't played at least one of those games. If you're crying about elden ring move sets, Sekiro would tear your fricking butthole apart
>why did i find bosses in nier fair?
Because they are incredibly easy
>i don't want them to do that, i just don't want them to start an animation and immediately cancel it because i did something
The only enemy in the whole game that does this is Malenia. And don't get me wrong, Malenia is bullshit. But it's just her.
>by what standard?
By the standard of it being the best open world in games. The test is simple: there are no better ones.
>then why did i beat it comfortably,
Obviously you didn't, or you wouldn't have made this thread.
>you didn't beat the game
but i did. this is the only defense souls shitters have, they assume anybody who didn't like their mid tier games can't beat them when in reality, they are just boring ass exercises in trial and error, worse than any other game in the genre. even generic soulslike rip offs like code vein are more interesting.
>only malenia does it
absolutely false. godskins do it, multiple gaol bosses do it. they change their input the second you press estus rather than rewarding you for reading the bosses input and actually learning the game, it punishes you because the game exclusively relies on cheap tricks like it's a 1980s arcade cabinet meant to suck down quarters.
every souls shitter just has to make up lies to defend their game. i bet next you'll tell me about the "amazing" story that consists of a bunch of random items lying around the map with loosely connected bits of lore like i'm playing dwarf fortress
>>you didn't beat the game
Don't put words in my mouth. I said you didn't do it comfortably, as you originally claimed. Your cries are one of two things: the asshurt of someone who sucks dick at the game, whether you managed to claw your way through, or someone who never played the game at all, and is just repeating snippets of shit you heard to insult a game you hate because it shat all over TOTK.
>godskins do it, multiple gaol bosses do it
No they don't. Malenia is the only enemy in the whole game that can actually cancel any animation.
great game design, maybe they'll actually start making good games like sekiro again instead of slopsouls 85, revenge of the button reading
Sekiro has the same exact input reading thoughlbeit, if you actually played that game you'd know, that's a real bad slip-up on your part Discordsissy
you really appreciate how janky and poorly made fromsoft games are when you watch someone else play them
This is about input reading, not animation canceling. Yes, some enemies have heal punishes. This has been a thing since DS2. But they can't cancel anything into it. The godskins were even nerfed to make it almost always reactable. Also Sekiro is full of input reading, which you would know if you had played it.
>heal punishes. This has been a thing since DS2
DS1*
There are heal punishes in DS1
>brings up totk when no one else in the thread mentioned it
>posts patently false information
uhhhh
the extra funny part is i literally called breath of the wild bland and uninteresting yet he thinks i'm a nintendo shill
no, elden ring is just overrated dogshit. it literally takes the worst part of every souls game and put its in a shitty open world, at least the mainline souls games had some decent and interesting level design, especially demon souls. but elden ring is just pure slop.
ER has better level design than any of their previous games, outside of maybe Sekiro.
All you're saying is that you never liked Souls games and you're a sad excuse of a Gankerirgin whose entire personality is being "against the current thing".
>game came out 2 years ago
>current thing
this would be a dragons dogma 2 thread if that was the case
>Trends like open world aren't modern
Don't be even more of a disingenuous moron than you already are
Go outside, take a break off the internet and try to remember that somewhere inside that pile of regret, bitterness and hatred there's a human being
but there are no levels, it’s just open world tho
What does button reading even mean? How else does a game determine it's strategy against you?
can you dodge a bullet if I shoot you in the face? why not, you saw the gun the whole time though???
Button reading is when the AI reacts faster than humanly possible, because it's reacting to your inputs, rather than your actions. Normally a human has to see what you're doing, and then react to it. But the CPU can predict what you're doing in the very first frame of an input press, and react to that.
It's noticeable when enemies normally have a cool down time after an attack, but then suddenly they have no cool down as soon as you press a button. Once you learn about input reads, you can actually manipulate the AI. Say that you get knocked down. And then instinctively you pull back on the joystick as your character is animating to stand back up. You have to wait until your guy stands back up before you can begin moving back. But the AI knows that you intend to move back before you've taken the action. Because it's reading your pull on the joystick. Thus, the enemy starts closing in on you and following up with a second attack.
So, knowing this, the next time to get knocked down, you stop yourself from pulling back instinctively. Waiting until you've fully gotten up, THEN you pull back. This changes the enemy behavior, causing them to close in later, and allowing you to escape the follow up.
It's not good game design, because you're having a meta battle with the underlying programming. Not a true battle.
What are you even talking about? You want to get off of the ground ASAP since you do not have I-frames when getting up anymore. The enemy is going to try and follow up to hit you if you are knocked down regardless of whether you immediately roll or sit there and wait.
Using a healing item and being attacked is input reading, just stick to that example ffs. That input reading has been in the series since DeS, every time you use a grass near a red eye knight they will read that input and charge you.
>What are you even talking about? You want to get off of the ground ASAP since you do not have I-frames when getting up anymore.
You *want* to get off the ground ASAP, but you *need* to wait, because the game animates your character getting off the ground, and there's nothing you can do about it. During the time you're waiting for your character to animate off the ground, you're pulling back on the stick, because you need to escape the situation, and your instinct tells you that pulling back is the way to do escape. The enemy reads your pull on the joystick before you've completed your animation to get off the ground. Something only the programming can do.
>That input reading has been in the series since DeS, every time you use a grass near a red eye knight they will read that input and charge you.
That's true. However, that behavior was very few and far between. Now it's every enemy reading you. The game is becoming progressively more bullshit. If you were to advance the AI realistically, then it would wait a number of frames after you begin your animation before it reacts, in order to simulate realistic human reaction timing. You would still get punished, but it wouldn't feel like bullshit. If the delay is too long, and the enemies can't punish the heal in time, then slow the healing animation too. That way it's like "aw man, they SAW me trying to heal and stopped me." Not "aw man, they READ MY INPUTS trying to heal, and stopped me" It makes all the difference in the world to the player's experience.
>much like every other souls games, it relies on unintuitive or cheap surprise tactics to kill you the first time you see a boss move
You know knowing the move set of an enemy you've never fought is not a "cheap surprise", it is how learning works.
>or even worse, trash like reading button inputs
If you want enemies to just sit there and eat your magic missiles, you don't want a challenge at all.
>i don't even need to mention the complete lack of story,
You being stupid is not a lack of story
>the mostly empty open world
It's the best open world in 3D gaming, ever.
>or the terrible pacing of the overall game, especially post fire giant.
Post fire giant is literally just a good legacy dungeon and the final bosses.
>it's not like the games are hard,
And yet it's what you're crying about. You're right, they aren't inaccessible, but you are just lazy and bad.
>a good thidr person action combat game teaches you things that you build on over the course of the game
So does elden ring. The vast majority of enemies and bossesshare at least some movesets or qualities with other enemies found earlier in the game. If you're not acquiring intuitive skills and knowledge as you play, you're not paying attention.
It's the best game of the decade easily.

have a nice day.
I like how you wrote words to look like you are counting the op points with valid reasoning but said literally nothing of substance. this is long-formatting of “no, you” congratulations you dumb Black person
I'm not reading all that, so I'll just assume you got filtered.
>Daily ER whining thread #325209
God this game broke this shithole harder than Smash, you love (and hate) to see it
Its the definition of bittersweet. The world is amazing and some bosses are amazing, but the copy paste is horrendous and the difficulty makes some bosses behave in stupid immersion braking ways. Aggressiveness and wind ups are fine, but they take it too far. 8/10
Actual skill issue, it's the easiest souls game homosexual figure it out.
Not to excuse bad game design (note: input reading isn't bad game design, most games do that since by the early 2000's we already had AI complex enough to beat humans at most games, so many games are balanced by reaction/difficulty setting so it's easily adjusted to each player), but people like OP make me laugh because they're telling everyone how moronic they are and seething when someone points they are moronic.
So you noticed the boss reacts in a specific way whenever you do A, and decide to keep doing A as you've until now? When I realised this during the Godskin apsotle fight in Caelid's tower, it made the game way easier from that point onward. You telling me the boss is gonna do the same action whenever I heal? So all I need to do is learn said action and act accordingly? Get some distance/behind a column et voila, free heals against the godskin. repeat for each boss and you can now easily find openings to heal.
I'm calling you a moronic because the moment you noticed your shoelaces were untied, you went to cry and complain that's bullshit and someone needs to fix it, where most people would've tied them and moved on.
And as others said, this input reading is in every game, including Sekiro. Just beat Genichiro and noticed he always does a strong arrow shot when you heal.
that's a weird way to say that that you love taking wieners up your ass. got some sand in your vegana? got b***h-slapped one too many times by Malenia? or are just one of thos people that hate universally loved things without even trying them? do share.
>lol the game must be too hard for you!!
every time, soulsshitters have no actual responses to valid criticisms
projecting much my friend? why so angry? do you have a reason to be angry?
You started this shit thread whining about the difficulty moron, go frick yourself.
>because its literally one of the easiest games in existence
>whining about the difficulty
test
>what is the obsession with this pig slop of a game?
It's babbies first Souls game + Fromdrones in general don't play much video games.
>>f-filtered by the difficulty
You were, homosexual
>unintuitive or cheap surprise tactics
The iconic corner stab guy filtered you? Lmao i just yell “MIYAZAKI?!?” And laugh
>the complete lack of story
The lore is presented directly to your moronic face in the opening cutscene of each game. Idk how you even get confused by these stories, they’re all literally “See these guys that woke up, kill them to beat the game!”
>a good thidr person action combat game teaches..
I can’t wait to see what you think is good
You sound like a massive homosexual afraid of pushing yourself
obsession is due to this game being the easiest souls game with muh open world that journalists and normalgays slop up
>NOOO WHY AM I SUPPOSED TO LEARN ABOUT THINGS AND REACT ACCORDINGLY UNTIL I CAN SOLVE THE PROBLEM?
Let me guess, you love AI because you think learning things is stupid and you should be able to do everything instantly.
Yes, you absolutely got filtered.
Go play dragon's dogma 2 instead and have a blast!
if dragon's dogma 2 was more a bit more difficult would be significantly better since unlike janksouls it actually has a real flow to combat instead of badly abusing iframes
but as it stands its too easy
Dragons dogma does not have combat flow lmao. Enemies regularly pause what they are doing to practically tpose doing nothing for 30 second intervals. To compensate the enemies have insane health bloat to account for getting whaled on mindlessly for 30 seconds. It's FF16 / FF7 remake design where the game wastes your time beating enemies that don't fight back.
filtered shitter
