What is the official Ganker hivemind opinion of Battle Brothers?
I think this game is dope as shit and there's still so much to figure out.

It's good but I didn't last until the endgame even once before moving on. I'll be back some day I'm sure.
Once you get higher level orcs, lindwurms and other bullshit. Humans barely feel like they can compete even in plate armour.
Except AI companies have that one guy who kills three of your men a turn. I don't get it
>Humans barely feel like they can compete
My mind immediately turned this into "how do white boys compete against the BOC?" and I think that means I need a break from Ganker but of course I won't do it.
I just started over because I bought the DLC and my old save couldn't use it. I had been doing the tutorial and savescumming like a b***h when battles didn't go my way, because I was learning, but now I'm doing veteran ironman with the new Arab start and it's going well so far but I'm being cautious and avoiding monsters and shit while I build up a bit. I'm enjoying how nerve wracking ironman is though.
Monster encounters are all shit, fighting other humans is where the fun is.
What makes them shit exactly?
Not him, but human encounters is a hodgepodge of different strategies that needs to be applied depending on what type of fighter you're up against, which means a balanced party is great.
Monsters require one certain set of strategies, and are incredibly inflexible when it comes to approaches, so you need to keep gear sets for your men around to tackle very specific encounters.
It adds so fricking much, I don't even know where to begin.
On top of new gear, new recruits, new perks, new backgrounds, and new quests, the biggest ones for me are the layered equipment system and the camping system. Armors are now split up into 5 different layers that you can mix and match as you want, which means you can optimize all gear for every bro and also customize how they look.
The camping system draws on the backgrounds of your bros and puts them to work. You can hunt, gather, heal, repair, salvage, and more at camp, and certain bros are better than others at this. Some perks also give bonuses to what is produced, for instance a bro with Camp Cook will prepare longer lasting and more valuable food types when assigned to hunting. It opens up for so many possibilities when it comes to roleplaying and managing your company.
Picrel is one of the cooler companies I've made in Legends.
Vanilla is fricking annoying.
It's AMAZING with the Legends mod.
Redpill me on the legends mod. I almost never mod anything.
I second this
Vanilla is a slog but legends lets you frick around
Ganker is too low iq for risk management so these threads are usually just whining about rng
thankfully we seem to have been spared this time
>Ganker is too low iq for risk management so these threads are usually just whining about rng
I think that's just common for "gamers" nowadays. Somebody take note at how many streamers die in frickign Planet Crafter because they cannot manage their water and oxygen, even though there are ample, audiovisual warnings for both running out in-game. It's like watching literal morons. People are dumb.
Risk management is better in games where units are more expendable, in BB you invest heavily and carefully into each of your men and losing one can frick up your entire gameplan half the time. replacements are so heavily gimped because the enemies keep growing stronger. end up forcing me into overly defensive setups with shield walls and crossbows/guns
Shield/Battle Forged frontliners with pikes/ranged in back is an incredibly viable strategy if you want survivability.
You can have 1-2 2hand bros with 250/250+ armor on the frontline as well as long as you have 3 shieldbros on each flank to lock down c**ts.
OP here. I'm still a newbie at this but I've been going romaboo with spear and shield for most of my front line, with the shield mastery perk. Is this good?
Phalanxes were Greek you incel
>Romans didn't also use spears and shields
Thanks (battle) bros. Can you give me a QRD on the advantages of other weapon types? Like what's good about cleavers, for example? I'm still experimenting.
>Phalanxes were Greek you incel
>what are triarii
Not for long. You'll want weapon diversity.
Spears without perks are good for low-level recruits, but higher levels should specialize in different things. I usually go with swords, axes, and cleavers.
I haven't played the game in years but my vague memories are that spears are fantastic in the early game because they have a huge accuracy bonus, but they start to fall off compared to the potential strength of other weapons when your guys get more skilled and can get perks for other weapons. They do still keep a lot of value even later on against certain enemy types (like orcs and I think most undead) that will just charge into a spearwall and get pushed back over and over again (though that might tire your dudes out so they can't fight for shit).
so... just like in real life with pike walls and shot and shield walls and bows. wow.
I enjoy it, though parts can be really frustrating. Goblins can frick off for example.
havent played in a long time, was good fun though, still listening to the banger soundtrack
>shoot enemy from high ground
>miss
into the trash it goes
I feel like it's made specifically for me yet even as a masochist player I find it extemely difficult on the lowest settings. The scaling is crazy, and you really need to minmax in order to even see the late game events. I honestly just wish it had a story and the current mode was just sandbox.
I haven't played since 2021, has anything changed since then?
>you will not get another battle brothers or xcom2 style game in your lifetime
The Battlebrothers devs are making Menace, so it's a mix of Xcom and Battlebrothers from the looks of it. Could be good.
That looks more like a Company of Heroes type game
good,outdated genre
theres literally xenonauts 2, if they can ever finish/balance their game
Xcom 3 is definitely happening eventually.
How if the team that did it basically went separate ways?
>original team
anon this isn't the 90's anymore, theres no such thing as an original team even during a single games development cycle
cant get over the stupid giant heads jumping around everywhere. game looks so stupid
I just can't handle the ridiculous rng and ugly graphics.
The rng sucks
I made a mode in which instead of RNG, damage scales with hit chance. never lost a single fight afterward. Realized the fake difficulty that is and stopped playing.
>I fundamentally changed the mathematical damage of my attacks
>Its too easy now
The average brown Ganker user
>be luckiest man alive
>play Battle Brothers
>never miss an attack ever
>easiest game I ever played
What now chud
The topic is not very complicated, dont make a clown out of yourself.
I love this game scored 600 hours , can't wait for MENACE release.
What's the appeal in the never ending slog of resource management and always being 1 day away from starving in games like BB and Wartales? I just want the fun of running a merc company where the difficulty lies in the jobs and rep building not in being a fricking accountant.
