I tried it out and got pretty bored of it pretty fast. I've been playing Cobalt Core over the past couple of days, it's kind of fun, like a hybrid StS FTL clone.
You play as predefined protagonists in Cobalt Core, right?
You swap out characters who have their own card decks, and you can change between a few different ship layouts with their own gimmicks.
It's alright gameplaywise. Reinvigorates a lot of the vestigial mechanics of FTL. The writing is absolute dogshit though, actually painful.

I've lost track of how many times I've replayed these games.
Notable mention to breaking my father's record in Time Crisis, which resulted in an amount of butt blasting so great he has not played again in 20 years.
