Speaking of controller collection: I'm having trouble with a good sized plastic tub to keep me N64 controllers in. I have 2 orig, and 2 brawler64s. All 4 won't fit into the container size I bought to hold the 4 Gamecube controllers (I bought 2 tubs), so I need a bigger tub.
How the hell do you store N64 controllers??
What is the perfect mix of controller colors for the n64?
Atomic Purple and classic Grey gotta be in there
Also, Atomic Purple, Grey, Solid Black, and Solid Yellow is your best collection of colors (another clear color to pair with the purple would also be acceptable)
>How the hell do you store N64 controllers??

Why do you feel compelled to put 4 controllers into a single dollar store tub they won't fit in?
Why not just ask the 3 imaginary friends you play N64 games with where they'd like their controller to be stored?
Grey, Red, and possibly (pic related) regular Green, unless you're a poorgay almost-zoomer that was late to the party and got Atomic Purple or Jungle packed-in with your console.
Fun fact: the marketing term in Japan for all these N64 controller colors was "Controller Bros." Miyamoto is showing them off under that name in of those old Spaceworld pre-launch interview videos, for example.
Came to post this one, the regular green controller, my absolute favorite.
I got it back in 1999 along with OOT. Since it was green, I thought of it as a "link controller".
I don't have it anymore but I'd like to get one again someday. I still have the box somehow. >the marketing term in Japan for all these N64 controller colors was "Controller Bros."
That's pretty cute
I have 4 classic grey controllers with a really clean normal N64 and it looks great. With the plain controllers it looks like it would have been on displayed at (insert your country's long bankrupt game store chain here) in 199X
Atomic Purple and Jungle Green give me the most nostalgic vibes, but Jungle Green more so. Takes me back to when my cousin got the DK64 bundle with a Jungle Green console and controller, and we spent like a solid month playing it nonstop.
I have a red one, a green one, a blue one and a yellow one because of Smash Bros. and Mario Party.
Solid red and transparent teal are probably my favorites.
I had two of pic related, in that color as well as transparent red. They were pieces of shit. The top of the analog stick actually off of one, and somehow (must've dropped it hard or something) the middle prong broke off in the other. They were bulky as frick, too.
According to medical studies, having any fewer than four different color N64 controllers is a key indicator that someone is an underage poorgay friendless virgin.
This and if you're super autistic get some gallon ziplocs and individually pack each one.
Best thing about using ziploks is you can leave the controllers in uncovered tubs in your doorless cabinet and they won't get covered in dust. At least 3 will remain pristine for decades, or until you make a friend. Whichever comes first.
They also work well to prevent scuffing. You could throw everything in a box and toss it around and you're not going to have scuff marks everywhere. Might also be relevant to a homosexual packing them like sardines in a dollar store plastic tub.
I'm torn between the fact that the solid primary colour N64 controllers look so good, and the fact that anything late 90's nintendo that isn't transparent plastic feels wrong.
I was so disappointed when Nintendo released like, one transparent GameCube controller, and it was just boring plain clear. Even the GBA at least had that Glacier transparent model.
The solid color ones are peak early N64. Translucent ones are from the middle of its lifespan (ie, around the time of the GBC's popularity). That's why the solid ones make me think of 3D innovative games while the translucent ones make me think of sleepover kino.
I like gold and ice blue the most personally. I do agree atomic purple is a classic, gray is the default of course but I've always thought they look ugly.
I'm nostalgic for the colours I had, which was blue, red, that special gold one, and the see-thru orange on the bottom left of this pic.
Nobody ever wanted to use the gold one, funny enough, it was always relegated to player 4.
None of them, they look like cheapass shit compared to the SNES controller
They couldn't even be assed to print anything on the non special edition ones, it really shows how cheap they were to manufacture
Ive owned every N64 color under the sun cept those most coveted unreleased one. I have had both clear bottom and funtastic orange top, its not as good as youd think. I havent done Daie hawks orange with clear bottom, though i doubt its anymore different. I feel like clear lime green and a clear bottom are a good combo
Gotta catch em all

I am this autist, I put my carts in smaller bags too.

Son of a....
I *had* been doing this, but I wanted the tub instead
Jungle Green is the pinnacle
Jungle Green and Atomic Purple.

My brother got me a green controller, green being my favourite colour, so we could play MK64 together. Good times.

I really like the Daiei Hawks controllers. I keep it consistent with 4 of them to match the system.
can you please make a trip so i can filter you
>let me show off my JDM coomlector status
pains me to have to sage my own thread

Any two of the four solid colored ones on account of how well they match the colorful button layout.
noice.
Is that why they pop well?

uh oh
Blue, blue, blue and blue.
I am sorry. I know this is not the sort of selection you wanted to hear and will be a disappointing post to you. Please respect my wishes.
Anon there are only three blues in that image....
4 gold controllers w the golden 64 for sure
I like Jungle Green.
solid deep blue
wish the purple was solid too though
I only have 2, purple atomic and regular grey one.
Would like to have at least 2 of the solid color ones, green and blue maybe.

Pride month is over, homoanon. Now kys.
Swap out Cyan for dark blue and the bottom row is perfect
this picture is making me crave some Haribo or some soda
>that one rich kid who had 4 controllers despite being an only child, just for when he had friends over
Google has an entire wall of N64 controllers in their campus just sitting there for decoration.
Three liscensed greys and a knockoff transparent blue. Best player of the genre had to use the ghetto controller to even things out.
