all dudes that i know who play healers transitioned at some point
Grooming
Agreed, healer is the most homosexual class ever invented
nah that’s dps. literally brain dead troons
Not in XIV, which is arguably the only relevant MMO. Healers boil down to three buttons. It wasn't always like this, healers used to require skill, but they raised the skill floor and lowered the ceiling for these "people" to live out their fetish. An entire role destroyed in a decade.
You're thinking of tanks, moron.
I think you just surround yourself with homosexuals because you are one
yup this is it, it must be autoerotic fantasies and not that i don't want to wait in queues
>my brother
god damn it.
>medic is my favourite tf2 class
It's... It's over... Now I have become troony, destroyer of dignity
and what did they look like?
The best healers I play with in wow haven't transitioned, but they are all either gay or female. Though the best healer I normally play against is trans.
because people say thank you and it make me feel good.
t. combat medic
I just don't get it.
Aren't you tired of being draped in chains, having to wield a tiny pistol and only getting 1% of the loot at the end?
>tiny pistol
As if a healer could ever wield a rifle. You should belucky if you can get a little pistol alongside your short-dagger.
Haha, puny RPG man. I shoot big gun and make instant Jesus with electric paddles. I command life and death
>kill homies
>turn around and heal homies too
I love medics in games especially action ones
What game are you talking about moron
medics usually get smgs (broken in every game)
god I wish medic wasn't a limited class but it's always taken by the time I load into the match
The Military Shooter Medic Class is almost always the extreme supersoldier who racks up the most kills while raising his entire team from the dead ten times over and has one of if not the best types of gun in their hands. They are often the most popular class because they can self-heal allowing them to tank their way through fights, always backed up by their allies they keep raising. They have more in common with a Tank off-healer, a Leader Role, than a "healer main."
MMO "Healers" who just refill their allies slowly-depleting healthbars are fricking trash and only exist because of garbage contrived mechanics.
The "trinity" can not exist in a real game that lacks the bullshit mechanics that make the three "work."
jokes on you medics in BF3 had the best rifles in the game. twas the most played class by far
>operation metro 1000 tickets
>revive over 200 people over the course of the match
>get numerous friend requests and messages thanking me after the match
Absolute brainlet of a map. Only double digit mouth breathers can get a dopamine hit from that.
Might as well called operation64Bots
I hate when metro shows up in conquest large of all things, frickers should just play the smaller game modes if they want it. I play CQ for bigger maps and vehicles too.
I know the image is bait but it still pisses me off that the bottom-right argument boils down to "I'm not good enough to do my job as efficiently as you need" and that's somehow supposed to be a point in the healer's favor
This is what annoys me about FFXIV sometimes. Healers aren't just expected to heal, they're expected to also do decent damage. That's what gets that kind of attitude out of people: when they're expected to balance doing damage with keeping people healed/buffed/mitigating effects.
They need to stop giving other roles the ability to heal/raise & stop expecting healers to do any significant damage.
dealing dmg as a healer in ff14 is just a two button rotation and there is huge downtime between healing. boring as shit and not nearly as difficult as dds.
Literally this. Been raid healing since 4.0 and healing is 100% scripted until someone fricks up. At which point you let them die and let the other healer res.
that's what I like about FFXIV, healbots are boring, I've played quite a few. I want to play a healer who is heal/DPS or just heal and some gimmick.
nothing feels better than getting the right timing to rescue a party member before a big red circle eats them. but such a thing happens once in a blue moon
i think that is cool, you are supposed to use your healing and damage reaction efficiently and proactively in preparation for incoming damage then do a bit of damage when there isnt any healing left to do, people dont need to be at 100% hp all the time
>I'm expected not to stand around doing nothing when there's no active healing to do and that's bad
Sorry, as a healer I only heal unavoidable damage. I'm not here to babysit you. Press your fricking buttons and move out of the fire, imbecile.
Your image is wrong.
But I don't wanna get b&.
Are you real Santa Claus?
As a healer I both hate that this is a thing and can't help but be turned on by it
then maybe get better at healing so you get rewarded with dick.
or stop being so good so you get punishment dick
Unironically got a bit horny from this
don't think anyone ever hands out punishment dick, I'd much rather have a good healer that i can give some reward dick
t. tank

>healbawds
NICE FRICKING HAT
Reminder that healer is actually male.
reminder that healbawds are also males so it fits
actual female healers are always on
mode without exception
Stop associating good healers with the bottom of the barrel trash.
never said they were good just that actual female healers are like that
Mostly true. But I think there are many types even among actual female healers. The attention prostitute, the silent and older one who is actually decent at the game, and the arrogant uppity moron.
As a healer main, one of the reasons I play is because I violently detest this mindset.
You are not God Reincarnate, you are a member of the party given a duty to perform. Get your tongue out of your own butthole and do your fricking job.
I wish a game would implement this. Like, make people with healing powers legally registered property of the church loaned out to licensed adventurers. Give them passive self-healing so society doesn't care if they're abused.
I like it. People with latent healing abilities are identified early on and put under the tutelage of the church where they're taught total submission and selflessness. Perhaps this is a kingdom constantly under attack by monsters or armies and this kind of treatment is seen as justifiable to maintain a standing force. Of course passing around your healbawd after a stressful battle isn't *strictly* church policy but most turn a blind eye so long as it maintains morale.

How do healers even level do they get extra XP? It's already a pain having to grind as a damage class it's worse if your class has to go questing with at least 25% less damage.
Typically they also have some damaging spells, like in FFXIV, or spells especially effective against undead-type enemies like in Ragnarok online
i want to force people to be nice to me, and they have to tell me my character is pretty and that i'm a good healer
Why do Americans seethe so much at the notion of being nice and helping other people?
Rugged individualism
all of your complaints are orthogonal to being a healer
If the healer is worthless, I'm not playing it, despite being the designated healer of my team. Being responsible for one job is the appeal, my team is responsible for another job, we work together towards victory, some mechanically simple games like ffxiv make healer extra appealing since they're the only ones doing anything interactive, while everyone follows a flowchart
This image makes no sense. No healer is strong enough to wield a blade that long.

don't talk about my wife like that
Oh you didn't know bro? Sorry I had to be the one to break it to you but she's a great party member
I dont understand what goes through an anon's mind when they post stuff like this
Healing is piss easy but also absolutely essential so you're always guaranteed to get spots in a party. That's pretty much it. Makes for a chill experience
It's essential because it's designed that way. There are plenty of games that have no healers and not getting hit is a skill check burden on everyone. Both single player or multi.
So it is essential
Brainless post by healer npc.
Your post said nothing of substance. "It's essential because it's designed that way." No shit moron, that's the scope of this thread. Games where healers are not in the game are obviously not relevant to the discussion in a healer thread.
It's the class that can't fail, people want to get his by your skillshots (if there even is any). Its a class designed to be played by the worst player on the team (doesn't get to play as much as everyone else or is someone's girlfriend), so you don't have to leave them behind.
So if you suck so baldy at the game that you can't play any other class, you are forced to become a healer and serve the greater warriors. Makes sense.

I play healer/dps classes whenever I can because I don't want to rely on you buttholes for end game content that isn't a raid. Self sufficiency.
Healing is fun, playing dps is just shutting off your brain and doing a rotation based on muscle memory. Playing Tank is boring for encounters that have little tank mechanics which tends to be most encounters. Healers are the only ones that are actually actively playing the game at all times.
Playing DPS is fun because you can KILL EVERYBODY and Tank is fun because you are an important part of the group who takes all the blows like a champ to protect his people.
Being a healer is just being a worthless slave to the rest of the group.
>"worthless"
>group wipes without them

healers capture the class fantasy of beast tamers better than they do
you have this monstrous beast (the other players) that can tear you to shreds that nevertheless subjects to your beck and call
but whereas in most games the beast is either just a huge mountain of jank or not actually a separate character from you, other players can be told what to do in plain english and will pivot and help you out according to their own intuitions if something goes wrong
also, the typical healer aesthetic is vaguely religious (read: scribe/eunuch), which is something more video game players can empathize with than "guy who's always outside and never showers"
it's just pretty neat
>you have this monstrous beast (the other players) that can tear you to shreds that nevertheless subjects to your beck and call
You wish. The healers are the lowest of the low. They have to serve the other party members and get barely enough loot to survive in return.
Yeah sure. Just like white women wear religious iconography (crosses or pagan shit) and tame 'beasts' like dogs or horses. The end result is the same and I think you just know what that result is.
I think you've had a little too much internet buddy. I sentence you to one week of park strolls, ten reps of saying hello to strangers, and two hundred forty gallons of fresh air and sunshine
the only reason healbawd memes aren't real and they aren't kept in chains is because team friendly fire is turned off otherwise it would be the most based MMO of all time
now post the third panel where he's sucking wiener and saying he's a little prostitute
The DPS can just treat his wounds by applying medical herbs and bandages or splints.
The healer is just for convinience and not nessesary.
The healer and tank can also do dps on top of their healing and tanking capabilities
The dps is just for making fights faster and not necessary for progression
Depends on the game
Playing Medic in Battlefield games (BF1 mostly) is some of the most fun I've ever had in a videogame
Nobody talks like that

>push button to make hp go down good
The DPS needs to move around, dodge, parry, counter, choose the right attacks, read the enemies attacks and predict his actions.
healer is harder because they have to pay attention to more units besides the enemy
I want to have a guaranteed party or raid invite with no wait time, while simultaneously having to do very little work. You mouseover the health bars that aren't full. You occasionally press a few other buttons. Other people do the heavy lifting. You get the healer loot. Nice and easy.
Obvious bait thread but I do want more of those healer memes
>Do they WANT to be worthless?
If they are useless then you are playing a shit unbalanced game
>Do they WANT to be draped in chains?
Not sure where you are going with this one
>DSo they WANT to be unable to wield anything heavier than a short-dagger?
Plenty of combat healer in other game, sometime the healer is also purification magic and the go-to against undead
>Do they WANT to get only 1% of the loot?
See above, loosing one fighter/mage/archer out of 3 is only a moderate loss.
Loosing THE healer is an incoming total party loss.
this is kind of the problem is that if you're healer you're also determining the pace of the party, and a moron tank running ahead and grabbing the whole room because he saw asmongold do it in a video once means you're the one that makes the decision in trying to go full sunk-costs to save the tank or focus on the non-morons in your party to survive the encounter and revive and thus deal with the shitty tank's attitude
Posting the other memes for fun

moron healer here. I like watching my teammates' health bars go up.
I like running around in circles and jumping while I heal
>what's the thought process
Probably similar to tank. I want to play the game but dont care what class. Oh you means two thirds of the entire player base is dps? I'll just pick one of the others so I have a guaranteed spot
I always play healer or tank because I hate waiting for parties and sometimes it feels like those are the only two roles that even make a difference. DPS feels like filler.
Imagine thinking any of this is true, in my experience Healers always get priority on rare items, because they are the ones that NEED to stay alive the most so the party can function.
The class I choose looked like this but just so happens to be a healer.
Do you still play lost ark? Paladin is the only manly support, but I decided to stop playing the game yesterday after 2000 hours (because of the dystopic dev steam)
Also, its OVER
I guess I just did way back even at the start. First MMO I played was Gemstone III way back in the day (text based only).
Healers didn't really go out with the party though, they found a safe zone and would chill there or just stay in a town center.
As they were pretty frail and "healing" was a bit special.
Empaths couldn't heal other people, they could only heal themselves. As the name implies a bit though they could transfer the wounds.
So you would transfer a wound, quickly bandage it especially if it was huge and on the neck or chest as the first aid applied to stop the bleeding was on someone else, and a gaping neck wound could kill you from full health in just a few seconds. Then cast up your specific healing spells to heal a section and degree of wound.
Finally take note of your health remaining and transfer some of their blood loss too while healing up yours.
You didn't get any spells to deal with scarring (which can effect rolls and other stuff, along with looks) till much later.
I appreciate your story old timer
>I appreciate your story old timer
It was neat and getting addicted at a young age (same as everyone else even now) was something.
The main area I would heal was in the town center, occasionally going to the North gates (where clerics would port back to with dead bodies). You made your money in tips and empaths tended to have tons of trinkets and just odd baubles as they didn't care about encumbrance (looking at my character would cause the entire page to scroll down due to unique trade items I had).
I would mainly rest in the treehouse (as you could only hold so much experience and had to wait for it to absorb, hence a social experience).
The treehouse was a bit like /b/ back in the day, tons of uh interesting people. Also the devs really had fun with things back in the day, if you did the action of jump in the treehouse, instead of jumping like normal you would jump out of it and attempt to land on a well lip to impress people. Most rolls would end up with you falling into the well (another entrance to the sewers) and breaking a limb to straight up snapping your neck.
Way back it used to nasty traps on chests that rogues would pick for other people (off mobs).
The success was based around their skill invested in it, the pick type, chest level, and of course the roll.
I seem to remember an acid vial (could just straight up kill the picker), some sort of maze one that would port you and it would take you a few minutes to get out, and the one they removed...
The red triangle gem. Fail it and it goes off, in an explosion in the room. It was good etiquette to announce it and warn everyone to leave the room before picking it...
If you did it right though you got the gem which sold to vendors for a fair chunk. It was common to give 20-30% of the chest as a tip.
Or ....you could just not sell the gem and do something crazy and evil such as walking into town center and rubbing it, causing it to explode with dozens of people there to roll against
roll against death / damage.
Mages cast against your standard DEF
Sorcerers cast against Spirit (only gained via specific training against it when leveling).
They had a spell called implosion I think which did something a bit similar, you would always be on guard and ready to move out of the room on the rare occasion you saw someone open up a pack and drop a bunch of cheap weapons as those acted as projectiles during the cast in addition to the void.
They also could cast a nightmare on players which showed you what creature your character was most afraid of (anything from minor gods to just a plain rat).
Mages also had familiars they could send ahead to scout rooms.
All of the sub 20 lvl spells could also be imbued into wands so other players could use them to a degree (at a cost).
There was also a secret society that the devs would send assassins out to fight / kill players if they ever dared discuss it in the open / crystal chat.
I had a rare skull (black) from a yearly traveling merchant that probably had 30 different interactions (kiss, hug, lick, star, hit, etc) that were all PTSD inducing. Kissing it caused your mouth to get stuck to it as your flesh melted and transferred over to it, forming a face for it and leaving you a skeleton causing you to scream.
Anyone else just saw you kiss it and scream bloody murder for no reason as it was all a hallucination.
Onto healing, on rare occasion the tree group would get bored and we would all go to decently high areas, include us empaths.
I remember one time someone wasn't in defensive, got a hole blasted through them by a sky giant but managed to not die to a crit just lost almost all their health. One of the other empaths yelled out "Wow can't believe you lived".
No one had told them not to yell, it triggered an avalanche. Most of the group got knocked down a level. with some dying.
Some landed mostly safe but still died due to getting crushed, I didn't but luckily I managed to land on a soft object
Okay so how do me make MMO's like this again.
Thanks for the stories anon, I get the feeling this threads gonna go soon but please post more again in the future if more of these healer threads come up
You pretty much can't, there was no graphics or advanced pathing involved just scripting as it was all text. No music licensing etc
Fun bit of random trivia, the company that made Gemstone III was SimuTronics.
They were working on a 3d engine for their push into 3d MMOs. It never happened but they started showing it off for other developers in 2006.
The engine, HeroEngine.
ie the engine behind Star Wars: Kotor Online
It was also used for Elder Scrolls Online development (whatever that means)
Even a tile set MMO à la C:DDA with those kinds of features would be cool. Otherwise yeah it probably could never work in 3D, not in this part of the century at least.
Going back to the downtime and just social places to rest after hunting or healing or whatever so you could absorb XP quicker.
The first 5 levels were "fairly" quick.
After that I think it was either 5 or 10 hours at level 5 onward and basically about another 5 hour increase per 5 levels.
So imagine 150 hours just to hit Lorded status (lvl 20 where you could pay a fee and join the Lord estate (basically just another social area with free "food and drink" (did nothing but text descriptions ).
That was your main spells depending on your class (warriors, rogues, hunters need not really apply).
There were more I think but not every level anymore (and you mostly used lower level ones anyway for most hunting) at 25 (I think implosion was that for sorc). 30 and 40?
Even back then there were some spells that just weren't implemented or sections left blank to be determined later (even among lower levels for some classes).
Who knows insert have an AI do it and feed it the text information, but like all old school MMOs it was the players that really mattered and helped make it what it was at the time.
It was also the game that got me to finally touch type even after those years of elementary computer classes.
That's really cool actually
>ywn work in a medic tent near a dungeon/fortress/ruin healing adventurers coming back with wounds from battle
Medics and entertainers would set up in ranger camps in SWG. It was a magical time. Player classes working together in noncombat roles.
Don't wanna heal?
>Healertroony420 has been voted to be kicked from the instance
Because being a healer is the Tard Wrangler, I have the power to fix mistakes and make up for my team’s incompetence to a degree.
Which is better design in an MMO?
To have it that you can beat content regardless of what your party comp is (all tanks/all healers/all dps) or to have you need at least one of each role?
If you want to design it to need each role, how do you do that for DPS? Is the only way with a DPS check that causes a forced wipe if you fail it?
>any comp
DPS meta will still exist, see GW2
>mandatory comp
DPS checks become the only actual challenge, see FFXIV
the only way to kinda sorta dodge the problem is to have flexible comps like WoW, where the fight can become challenging in different ways depending on your exact group setup
Go into more detail about how they manage that then. I assume you've played it to experience, so go into detail about how they do it.
by allowing you to do things like bring an extra healer to make raidwides in one phase easier, but make the dps check in another phase harder
Because I can participate in a penis measuring contest as a healer too.
Yeah but healing logs (outside of progress) are a fricking meme because they usually involve intentionally and actively playing the fight badly
>holy pal
Braindead OP. You have fun, tho
The one time I mained a healer was in Wildstar since following the other players around with low range heals and keeping track of where they went and what they did seemed fun.
If you play a MMORPG and only stick to the DPS role you're missing out of half the game.
Meter whoring as a healer is the most moronic shit ever since you're still hardcapped at the amount of damage the other players are taking. You either did your job (no one died) or you didn't.
The only game healers got respect in was FFXI. High levels White mage passing through your exp party area and just helping out with w/e fight your in just cuz and raising people.
>healers
I play SCH for two reasons in FF14.
Big fatty shields to mitigate raidwides, and watching people fail mechanics and die. Bozja had some great fights for that.
I play healers in other games, because I have always loved clerics in tabletop/strategy games.
exactly big shield make my pp big.
>progging p9s
>half of each light part misreads the circles/front/back mechanic
>recitation + protraction + adlo + deployment
>wholeass HP bar shield
>sacred soil + expedient + fey illumination
>25% mitigation
>We take both light party stacks with only 2 people in each
>survive the raidwides after too
>rez and business as usual
I guess I have a savior complex, I like enabling and elevating my allies, to be the conerstone of a team. The "healbawd" meme is a product of the modern era. Clerics and Paladins were heroic and respected, pulling your friends from the brink of death. Doctors, fantasy doctors included, who must learn grisly surgical procedures and uncover the secrets of alchemy. Even FF's White Mage would purge undead with holy magic and had an assortment of control abilities. Where did it all go wrong? Why is "healer" now synonymous with troons and sissies? There is no way Overwatch influenced culture to this degree after decades of healers being normal. No one calls a tank a masochist for taking hits, no one calls dps sadists for inflicting damage. What about the controller role in itself? It screams hard dom and even sometimes is called "Dominator" (City of Heroes), a few jokes made in jest but no one took it the way the healbawd meme did.
This looks like AI but not like the generic waifu shit everyone makes. I wish more people made AI art like this
it's not AI, believe it or not.
Oh well that's pretty cool then, do you know the artist? I like freaky shit like that
>Why is "healer" now synonymous with troons and sissies?
Women, in League of Legends at least most of the female playerbase plays "girly" characters and most of those characters are supports, the fact that healers in videogames are normaly asociated with wizards or clerics helps because those two archetipes usually use robes the most "girly" tipe of armor you can get outside of a frilly battle-dress, you can also add the real life associations of nurses generally being female as for the cleregy side real life priests (the modern ones not the ones starting religious wars) are kind of lame and nuns (at least the ones I grew up with) being either cute, pretty or motherly, all femenine traits.
Now if you are a man and do anything "girly" that's kind of gay dude. that's what happens when you don't deconstruct gender, if something you like becomes femenine (you) by association become femenine.
>clerics
Happy Wars clerics wielded big frick off hammers with heavy milk cartons for armor.
They not only healed and revived you. But they were also tanky bastards.
Those frickers were the opposite of girly.
>fall for old queue time memes and pick white mage
>get to the end of the main story
>find out that nothing i learned applies to any other job, they're all about weaving skills without a global cooldown
>can't be fricked to relearn the game from scratch
>memed myself into being a WHM one-trick
Blame Yoshi P, all healers are two buttons classes. All tanks play the same as well. Just bite the bullet and learn another class, preferably a dps, from the ground up. You WILL be asked to switch off WHM when you encounter parties full on healers, most only take one or none at all. So you are aware, there are ultimate clears done without healers. XIV is the worst game for healing.
There are raids cleared without healers too. It's called abusing ilvl sync
bruh you did the MSQ as a healer? I healed plenty of dungeons for queue times as well but why would I play healer elsewhere
Don't feel bad, XIV is utter dogshit at teaching players how to actually play their class, so you still wouldn't know what the frick to do without looking up a guide.
>XIV is utter dogshit at teaching players how to actually play their class
Most classes transition bigly through the course of leveling which makes learning the most classes awkward. Every 10 levels, your ideal rotation changes.
Healers go from GCD to oGCD after 60 or so, varies by class. I play a SGE and if I have to use a healing GCD at 90, it's because someone is fricking up somewhere. The only GCDs are I use are DPS. But before that, you're just sitting around spamming GCD heals. and occasionally weaving in some single target DPS.
>find out that nothing i learned applies to any other job, they're all about weaving skills without a global cooldown
How is it a problem to have 2 games in 1?
If every class is a copypasta of another, what's the fricking point?
Game whose mechanic is plain "cooldown timer" can't be expected to be any good tho.
We are in 2023 why the frick are we still using mechanic born from the first game ever created.
white mage also gets weave with lilies eventually, keep playing the class
It's process not progress you fricking idiot.
They want to be bawds.
>when the healer pulls ahead and takes aggro before the tank
What's the fricking source.
Anon.. that's a red mage (male)....
Okay fine
>when the support falls behind and aggros respawning mobs
>Tank finishes killing boss but still has a few seconds of berserk left
>takes it out on the support
pls most more of this bawd
okay
that guy's just being mean but I actually don't remember the name
People's refusal to gatekeep is why so many hobbies are dying.
they aren't dying though. they're just returning to their former size and budget before they got subsidized by the mainstream. that should be a good thing if you think being popular is a problem.
>People's refusal to gatekeep is why so many hobbies are dying.
gatekeeping is the surest way to make your hobby die. No one will spontaneously appear just because you pushed away people on basis irrelevant to the hobbies.
On the other hand, if your hobbies is popular you may have a few dumbass but you'll also have a lot more choice.
Immoral Guild
I love how every time I ask for a manga's name I get told to frick off but morons on Ganker get spoonfed left and right.
Give me a name
if you don't know this anime, you're a normalgay. Also, read the manga.
Yeah I haven't watched anime in years which is why I'm on Ganker not Ganker so tell me the name or actually talk about video games
I enjoy the thrill of choosing who gets to live and who dies.
idk I just like sucking wiener
>thought progress
I play tank cuz I like to roleplay the good guy knight decked out in full armor telling his team to "Get behind me!"
Irl it's more like "Holy fricking shit can the DPS stop getting murdered by position checks and actually do the gimmick."
Well... I used to be able to roleplay the top well with Blood DK because of the combat rez and insane soloability of BDKs. Too bad I dropped wow after BFA and don't plan on returning because MMOs fricking suck now.
>"tank dick tastes good"
Healers are a bunch of neurotic buttholes who get high sniffing their own farts any time people die after going and actually fricking doing something that benefits the party.
>You took a risk that if succeeded would have greatly gave us the advantage but could not best the odds this one time? You should feel ashamed"
Healers get the rope
>Healers get the rope
Ain't nobody fricking with the white mage.
Enjoy death moron
>"Ain't nobody fricking with the white ma-"
>gets kicked from the party and blocked
>ad infinitum until they are forced to play solo or change class.
You're not immune.
>>You took a risk that if succeeded would have greatly gave us the advantage but could not best the odds this one time? You should feel ashamed"
You just described CS:GO in one sentence
I would rather not play healer but when I do its wother because guild is begging or because the healers we got are straightup trash
A side-effect of the necromorphs latching on to the role as part of their fetish.
Healers not only get blamed for everything, but their enjoyment of their job directly depends on everyone else knowing how to play theirs. The worse everyone else is, the more irritating doing their job is. Long-time healers naturally develop shitty attitudes due to mistreatment and other people being morons.
99% of the time that there's a problem in the group, it has nothing to do with the healer. It's actually rare to find a bad healer. The problem is usually the tank. Depending on the game, the DPS can also be at fault. Like, in FFXIV, the tank and healer only have so many cooldowns so the DPS needs to kill shit in a timely manner. If they don't, cooldowns run out, and people start dying. The healer, of course, will get blamed for this.
Healers have every right to be dicks.
usually the healer is the only unique role that offers an interesting mix up in gameplay.
It's hardly a change but of course we're talking MMOs here so even a minuscule change is a big deal
I liked playing a Acolyte/Priest in RO because you can just go past random people and give them a blessing and they just say "ty"
it's a nice feeling
In FFXIV, healers are by far the most difficult class to play. And most healers are exceptional players for this reason. The healer has enough shit to handle without undergeared tanks and DPS standing in AOEs. Do your fricking jobs or the healer has every right to treat you like the dumbass you are. I always comm healers, and do everything I can to lighten their burden.
I like making a difference. It helps because I'm otherwise bad at games.
Is is healer shot on games all time?
Tanking is hard and DPS is useless.
healing, support, and later on holy wrath is kino
As a healer main, i will tell you the actual mentality of a healer.
I'm afraid of responsible.
I don't want to know that I'm actually a shit player as a carry.
So i play healer and can easily blame the others for losing the game.
And i also have more power when i can just throw a tantrum and stop healing.
I think of it as a single player game and the other players are basically my pets with slightly above average AI. Unfortunately I have to cast glare/holy a lot or they get upset, so I can’t completely relax while they gather exp and loot for me.
>play as paladin or crusader
>heal while fighting keeping our spirits up
Im the sword of Michael
I like supporting but healers are usually really boring.
I always like disruption, debuff and disable characters. Its fun completely crushing as them and the rest of your team can just effortlessly win.
Same. That's why Battle Mage in Maplestory was one of my favorite classes in any MMO. Tons of buffs, tons of skills that helped your party fight more efficiently like the chains that gathered enemies together, and best of all, the big Party Shield that you could put up with a long cooldown to protect the party.
This but add buffing, so usually what bards are supposed to be. If it comes in a magitek/engineer flavor or Geomancer it's kino.
>Mint Adnade
>Keyaru(ga)
Both are quite accurate
>entire thread of homosexualry
learn the difference between a healcuck and a real medic
like there is a difference
There's a difference?
I always pick healer if I'm playing something with my PC bros. I know I suck at KBM so I don't mind a support role. If anyone gets mouthy I beat them in fighting games until they pick a girl.
>take HRT
>keep dick
>exclusively frick NEETs
am I based yet?
if you're hot, yeah
I look extremely androgynous.
That doesn't answer the question.
it does somewhat, dependent entirely on the viewer, some find it to be the hottest thing ever and others just aren't interested
You can be androgynous and hot or androgynous and ugly. I like androgyny but it's not gonna fix unfortunate genetics or bad skin.
I get complimented on my skin so I'll learn towards the hot spectrum.
I only post pics on /soc/.
You're a sad and mentally ill freak
post pics
>tripgay thinks it has the right to say anything about anyone
they play games that require a healer class and see that nobody is doing it so they just eat the bullet and do it so everyone can play
The first time, I only did it as a prerequisite for other classes. When I was done I kept going because I was too lazy to stop. Then I discovered that I really enjoyed milking HoT mechanics for hands-free healing while I ran around doing other shit, or using min-maxedd big heals to completely erase whatever massive ass-rape move a boss just did that usually was a source of panic for groups. At some point healing was the thing I was known for so I did it in every game.
i play healer because i love the pleasure of being cummed inside
Nommy doh
hi discord!
Because it's easier and cheaper to build than DPS.
There are some healer archetypes i met in WoW.
1. butthole - for some reason healer attracts many elitist buttholes, this type of healer complains all time and screams at everyone all time. He also is first to instantly leave when pug group wipes. From his perspective everyone is bunch of morons.
2. HealMommy - Older woman (35+) usually the oldest female member in guild. She uses healing as way to satisfy her motherly instincts. She very good at healing and calls everyone "Darling", "Sweetie", "Sunshine".
3. Healbawd - Usually male roleplaying as female, sometimes real life trap very rarely girl. Acts cute and lewd. Sexualizes healing like crazy. Healbawd acts very submissive and dirtytalks all the time. It goes even further if healbawd is a trap, will send nudes to other guild members and will talk how he wants one of the guild members (usually tank) to come to healbawd's house and roughly frick his throat and boipussy as a reward for healing.
4. Weed Witch Doctor - really chill guy who believes healing is the most comfy job. Calls everyone "bro". He gas very slow reaction time when interacting with other team members but somehow he is quite good at healing. If he even roleplays he usually says that he uses power of weed to heal. He is definitely stoned all time.
5. Nurse - Girl that is new to game, she just wants to be helpful and tries her best and gets really sad when someone dies. She has a lot of empathy and believes in her guild members.
6. Veteran nurse - Girl that is experienced in this game, but she was scarred by all moronation she met over time. She sees healing as just job, no big feelings. And of course if someone does something stupid she just lets him die.
Good lord, I can see their characters.
we could use those archetypes in a non-fiction rpg
In FFXIV healing is more impactful than DPSing my life away. It makes me feel in control of the situation and I enjoy that.
I AM NOT HERE FOR ME! I AM HERE FOR YOU! I AM NOT HERE TO SAVE ME, I AM HERE TO SAVE YOU!
THAT IS THE LOGIC.
This, tbh. I will do whatever I can to keep my team alive at the expense of my own life. Bonus points if my team has some braincells and actually attempt to look out for me. Makes me fuzzy inside.
>What is the thought progress of people chosing the healer class?
I'm a bottom.
>What is the thought progress of people chosing the healer class?
I like to see people suffer
healing lets me fix other people's problems
>Tank
wanna be alphas and pretend men. real men arent playing video games
>DPS
edgy try hards who think pressing buttons makes them important or skilled. talented people arent sitting on a computer all day
>healer
gigantic homosexuals begging for their faces to be raped
I play tanks and healers equally what does that say about me?
Power switch
Sounds about right.
I just want to actually be under stress, require split second reaction times, have forward planning and manage resources so that I can carry your low skilled sorry assess through what should normally be the easiest of content.
Healing is the most interesting role to play because it's the most unpredictable
As a tank, the dungeons never vary
As a DPS, you barely care about anything other than yourself
As a healer, you have to account for several morons whose needs can vary on a moment to moment basis
It requires awareness, knowledge, and adaptability
Playing as a tank feels like you're being patronized into believing you're actually important
Playing as a healer feels like level 900 Tard Wrangling
I genuinely enjoyed playing FF14 as a healer for a while because of that. Then they further simplified healing, then they level crunched and rebalanced the game to the point where its nearly impossible to die outside of big pulls, so I have fun with big pulls and then boss time is pretty much sleeping as nobody can actually take any damage at all.
It blows my mind that people complain about their tanks or DPSs fricking up in casual content when that's simply the best time in the game since you can actually press your buttons and carry out the one thing you signed up for.
they gave every tank moron proof mitigation and you'd be amazed how often they press every other button but that
FFXIV has the worst healing. Because everyone class no matter if tank, heal or dps is playing the same. In most dungeons boss fights you need no healer at all when the tank is using his cooldowns on high dmg attacks.
Healers use to be required in virtually all content in all MMOs and were fairly rare. As much people would slobber my knob to get me on there team and gear me for content technically out of my reach just to have a healer. I enjoy being a healer with friends because I like to make sure they stay alive to prevent the walk of shame
Crowd Control is a cooler class.
Healers need to be removed from all games. Most people play them because they are mandatory.
All healers are homosexuals and women.
>healers (gigabottoms) are rare in vvidya
>tops are rare irl
why is this
gaming is a male hobby
but 40% of gamers are girls
male girls
Women don't exist on the internet anon.
Just a bunch deepfakes and voice changers.
>What is the thought progress of people chosing the healer class?
"Wow, my team is horrible, guess I'm gonna have to clean up after them if I want to win."
Uh does a tank that so happens to be able heal himself and everybody around while tanking count as a healer?
>What is the thought progress of people chosing the healer class?
We need a healer and nobody wants to do it, so I need to do what has to be done or no one else will.
Healers and tanks are infinitely masculine
They're the last line of defense for a shitty team that doesn't know mechanics
DPS on the other hand are played exclusively by children and cuckolds
Healer is always the role I pick first but this tier I decided to try tanking in XIV and so far I'm enjoying it. Maybe someday I'll try DPS too but I usually just like being party support
>move
"No."
I like healing
I like restoring mana
I like feeling like I'm the reason the other team can't make progress
I like imagining that they're seething at their inability to get ahold of me while I hang around at the backlines and continuously wienerblock them
I like when I play Pugna and people say thank you for draining my health and mana bar to keep theirs up
I liked wienerblocking enemy kills from across the map on old s0 LoL Soraka
I like when my attentive eye and good positioning helps get my team through a wave in Killing Floor
I like the feeling of being an important key player and that people are dependent on me
I like seeing the green bar go full again
I liked seeing all the green numbers go up on my screen when I pressed Flourish in BFA on my resto druid
I like when we finally beat a fight and I know I did my job well by saving people and getting clutch heals/shields off
I hate ERP and the 2IQ healbawd meme because it's fricking gay lmao
It's just as simple as that, honestly
I get to decide who lives ans who dies. That applies to the enemy team as well.
>hey here's this magic that means you're basically invincible to everything except (potentially) old age and being instagibbed
>it isn't something everyone in the universe learn immediately
>Wverpopulation is never an issue
How.
Literally the only fun healer.
Maybe it's a skill issue, but I've never had fun with TF2 Medic. Can't defend myself, but my team won't protect me, and I'm also the number one target for the enemy team. It's just not fun.
If I was hauling potions I wouldn't party with a healbawd.
>i will not go by your ridiculous pace
bad healer
A decent amount of my time as a healer is wanting people to not stand in AoE attacks but not saying anything because it's utterly pointless.
A decent amount of my time as a healer is wanting people to stand in AoEs and take more damage so I can actually heal them, but you can't really say something like that to a party.
I remember scamming world logs on monk in pandaria doing this
Still gets me a pass in basically any guild
>Love playing Medic
>Love healing then releasing an Ubercharge making the whole ennemy team kneel in fear
>Just drop my patient if he is a moron
>Just play the game on my own healing people i meet to build uber
>Team at the end thanks me because i ended up being all around the map, supporting my whole team instead of pocketing someone
Medic is the best healing class in video games
The funny thing is, most healers are like this, but also complete trash because it's a free ride in almost every game. Most of the better healers converted to heals after playing dps or tank. Speaking as a healer main.
Yes. The whole "DPS aren't doing the mechanics right so I'll just stop healing them" is completely foreign to me. I started out as an Arms Warrior in WoW TBC and switched to Holy Paladin in late Naxxramas WotLK so I was always aware of how much it can suck to be a melee DPS. No other healer cared about the melee being rooted but I was always the first one to dispel debuffs and cast Blessing of Freedom on rooted melee.
Being a healer is very much like herding cats. They're whimsical and will do whatever they want and you can't really predict it but you can mitigate the damage that their stupidity causes. That's the job of a healer. The worst thing I know is not a DPS messing up, it's a tank that's moving too slow or not utilizing their mitigation skills properly.
Yeahp. Sometimes you're just stuck with spergs who'll never learn so you gotta compensate. If you don't, then you're just sandbagging and deliberately dragging your own guild through the mud.
>healer is out of mana after a fight and there's no more potions
If the healer isn't the most important part of the party, then you're playing a shit game.
can you guys stop sexualizing healers? its weird knowing any member of my party could see me like that because of the stupid healbawd memes
You just ensured someone will do it even more.
Are you new on the internet?
Just make your healer a MAN.
>healer has the strongest nuke in the game and is essential to killing things
Name 12 games.
I always play tank/dps, and I ERP/flirt as the most submissive b***h ever, do you actually get a lot of opportunity as a healer? I'm only interested in the role for that, because the role itself is boring, and the true reason people play healer is not to ERP, but because they are bad.
Man why is it so fun to completely submit to someone? I love doing it so much.
wieners are just too strong...
And simply amazing in every way! Frick I'm trying not to fap right now but the thought is making me horny.
>Want to play a healer in WoW
>Pick a male Draenei Priest with a cool-ass beard
>Heal motherfrickers left and right and look rad doing it
>Laugh in the faces of both the evil and the terminally horny
Reject modern bawd-core healing
Embrace eastern orthodoxy-core healing
>a beefy fella who deals melee damage, while taking hits like a champ
Fighter/Warrior/Strength is for "gigachad men"
>a less beefy fella who deals melee/ranged damage, but is too weak to take hits
Rogue/Thief/Dexterity is for regular men and tomboys
>an even less beefy fella who deals ranged damage, but is too weak to even get into melee range
Mage/Sorcerer/Intelligence is for regular women and feminine men
>a cute fella who is not even interested in dealing damage and more into healing stuff
Priest/Cleric/Faith is for "girly girls"
Think about it logically.
>no tomboy knights
You are not my khomie.
There are some exceptional cases.
Take a look at this guy for example, there's a reason why they're called men of the cloth.
>men of the cloth.
Can't carry heavier armor and weapons? OHOHOHOHOHOHO!
Priests get sick as frick holy magic to smite monsters.
healing based on nature is for gigachads unlike holy
>healing/shielding
woman's support *ONLY EXCEPTION IS THE TF2 MEDIC, BUT HE HAS UBERCHARGES (AND PROJECTILE SHIELD/REVIVE)*
>utility/tanking
man's support
I enjoy support/utility roles in general, especially when I can openly shit on morons through gameplay elements like giving damage buffs to tanks when dps are absolute trash, refusing to give mana back to or throw mitigation at people who behave like c**ts or simply not healing players who refuse to do the bare minimum.
Because i can't expect other people to keep me alive
That's how untrustworthy you all are to me
I like GW1 Monk. It was fun.
you should be nice to your healers
Why?
because she'll take up dark magic, revive her boyfriend's head and stage a marriage to use her former party member's bodies as fuel for a necromantic ritual to turn that head into a demon
>game has healers in the first place
Failure of game design.
Since there's never any end to the shitters who won't stop standing in bad, I've come to the notion that they should change up the loot system to force a desire for improvement.
1. Everyone gets their own drops that don't interact.
2. Everyone can self-rez after a time, healers can still rez you faster.
3. When you die to an avoidable attack that was targeting you or is large-scale but meant to be circumvented, your personal potential number and maximum quality of rewards drops(cumulatively). The first death could be a freebie/grace period.
4. If you bail on the group it carries over until your next clear of that content.
5. Clearing resets it.
thats not how it works anon
scuff = stuff
>Tank
I play this because I like the feeling of facerolling a bunch of enemies/bosses, it gives me an absolute rush every time I pull in a huge horde of trash mobs because it's cool.
>DPS
I play this because it's the most braindead role and lets me shut off my brain while doing a rotation. Really isn't much else I have to do outside of dodging projectiles LOL
>Healer
I only play astrologian because I get to buff people, spamming a single spell over and over while playing whack-a-mole with da green bar isn't fun in most content, it only gets interesting when you're doing savage because you're more incentived to do as little healing as possible
I played support classes back when I played class-based games. The reasons were:
1. I am willing to play anything. I don't usually feel like making the decision myself, since everything's fun in their own ways. So I'll play whatever other people want me to and, since dumb buttholes won't play support classes, there's a lack of people playing them, which means they're always in demand.
2. Supports have the easiest time abandoning shitty players, but simultaneously can sacrifice themselves if it would save a better player. This is a lot of power to have in the long term. They're basically a bank handing out loans.
3. I like seeing other people happy. It makes me happy. If I'm happy and no one else is, I feel like I did something wrong. I also like cooperation and analyzing other people's needs, and it's easiest to do that from a support role. Why play a multiplayer game if you're going to be selfish?
4. Playing other roles gives me anxiety. I somehow simultaneously feel helpless and pressured to perform. I'm just standing there fighting a giant dragon in the exact same way I'd fight a rabbit, the only difference is a guy is standing behind me, staring at my back, saying, "Go on, bro, I'll help you. :^)" And it sounds like your job is to just fight and someone else will do all the work to keep you alive, and yet, I feel a great deal of responsibility, like whether we win or lose is all thanks to me, since I know the support can't fight themselves. I don't like that feeling, since I'm not very confident in myself.
Truth is, in most games, my favorite classes/characters are not hard supports. I just feel like, after doing all the math, I end up in that role more often than not. I actually more prefer classes that stay back and do stuff on their own from afar, fighting indirectly or playing their own minigame on the side.
wooo
I like the rhythm
