But 5 had stupid mechanics, a dumb story, and the stupid currency system where you end up losing money by replaying missions (but only after they patched the game to nerf having fun). Plus Quiet disappearing even from previous missions, which was absurd. It was an unfinished game. Also, the level designs were mostly ass. Only a few levels were actually good, the open world seriously hurt the game. Ground Zeroes definitely had worse control, but they showed how even the same level 8 times could be so different by having a handcrafted and thought out mission and enemy placement.

I still believe 4 was an elaborate troll made by Kojima because he was just done with the franchise, things like hiring those models for those absolutely pointless post-boss battle scenes and the fact that there was extremely little gameplay in all acts following 2, it was like he was asking for konami to finally shelf this shit.
4 does have great moments but the gameplay is so sparse and it's so self indulgent it's hard to go back to

I could give less of a frick about music and voice acting and graphics, where are the compelling environments to stealth through? the bulk of the game is empty space with outposts smaller than a screen in fricking Metal Gear 1. There are a total of like 5 sizable locales to sneak around in, it's pathetic. the missions are also aimless fluff that mostly do nothing narratively too, making them feel like unimportant filler, and the boss fights are the worst the franchise has ever seen. funny how you think my singular gripes with the game is the dogshit plot
