I thought that was a fantastic decision. Odd as it may be to say, if it wasn't for the strange character designs, TP would have felt like Lord Of The Rings: Tri-Force Edition. Would have come across as a little too socially contemporary.

So is Majora's Mask, but nostalgia has deluded a LOT of fanboys into thinking it's a treasure. If you recreated a lot of the newly introduced npcs from MM in the same fidelity as the characters of TP, they'd look just as hideous.
This is not about the characters but something I found interesting when pointed out was how a lot of stuff in the game suggests the kingdom is in a pretty bad shape. The infrastructure, like bridges, the Snowpeak mansion and Kakariko not being maintained and decaying, a lot of the soldiers are shown to be unreliable ("Why are we gonna die of thirst?" "I dunno go ask the people at the lake) and scared, stuff like that.
It's not some revelation, but the idea that Zelda was already having to try to keep together
the realm in difficult circumstances even before the invasion is neat to think about.
Yeah, the manga is really high quality overall, and there are many excellent panels/scenes, especially if you like Link and Midna together, even for simply being great partners. Definitely recommend checking it out.

Man, that describes a good chunk of TP's arsenal. The statue rod, the beyblade, the wind part of the wind boomerang, the sniping goggles, the slingshot (After you get the bow), all criminally underutilized. At least the ball & chain was funny to use in combat situations, if not always practical.
