I got Sifu during the christmas sale because I enjoyed Absolver. Honestly I think it's not as fun. I miss the variety of moves and making my own fighting style. Sifu is more focused and might still be for you.

It's a rock-solid 3D beatemup with an aging gimmick
The aging is a source of confusion and frustration for lots of players (including me, at first) so I'm gonna explain it here
Basically you start the game at Age 20, and every time you die, your age is increased by your death counter
>first death = age 20 + 1 death = respawn age 21
>second death = age 21 + 2 deaths = respawn age 23
>third death = age 23 + 3 deaths = respawn age 26
etc.
Every decade you age (30, 40, 50...) your max health lowers, but your damage increases
Finally when you get over 80 I think? One more death is permanent
The way the game works is, there are 5 levels and every "run" the game records the age you entered the level at. As you play through the levels you will die and continue over and over, getting older and older as you play through the campaign. At some point you will probably become so old that you can't complete a level. At this point you should go back and replay the campaign from the beginning, attempting to have fewer deaths, stay younger and go further.
The game is designed around replaying the campaign in runs like this - you will unlock shortcuts in earlier levels with keys you find in later levels, making it easier to replay levels on subsequent runs.
The move unlock system is also a little odd. You unlock a move for the current run with XP. When you start a new run you lose all the moves you unlocked on that run and have to unlock them again. BUT this is okay because (a) you will be better at the game every run, so you'll get more XP and unlock moves faster, and (b) after you unlock a move 5 times it's permanently unlocked for all runs. So you should try out all the moves on different runs, and when you find moves you really like, spend XP on permanently unlocking them.

Some quick tips:
>blocks/parries build your posture bar, dodges reduce it - so you should try to dodge more when your bar is full so an unblockable move doesn't break your posture
>use your push attack and sweep attack to knock enemies away / down to stop enemies from swarming you
>your finisher attack restores your health BUT sometimes an enemy will defend your finisher and become a miniboss
>enemies will delay attacks in their combos sometimes to catch you out if you try to counter, don't fall for it
>you can use focus mode to slow things down if you need a breather
>focus eye jab gives you a free combo, focus sweep gives a long knockdown
>there are 2 types of enemy stagger, a "soft" stagger that will give you a short combo window, and a "hard" stagger that will give you a long combo window
>staggers are signified by a brief slowdown when you intercept or parry an enemy's attack
>work out a nice reliable combo to use on enemy stagger
>after you fight an enemy / boss, they are unlocked in the practice mode - use this to learn their combos
>play on NORMAL difficulty for first playthrough, NOT MASTER!
