The reason everyone calls her Honey and not Daisy is that Mustard simply calls her that as a romantic name for her, and everyone just assumed that was her real name.

The ghost type and dragon type were last minute additions. Gengar was never meant to be a ghost, just a poison ball of gas gaining solid mass and was reworked to be ghost type. Dragonite was probably gonna be Normal/Flying but wanted Dragonite to feel more special. Both types are strong against themselves and only have one move of their type in gen 1.
Gorochu was cut because Tajiri felt a Dragon/electric mon available early game was too OP (also the reason why Gyarados became water/flying, instead of /Dragon). Dragon was likely there from the start, especially considering how revered they are over there.

There are two types of pokemon, the types that trainers raise and catch and the type that are used for food and other normal animal things. The latter are basically selectively bred morons that have degenerated mentally to the point they're just mindless animals, whereas the ones used for battling are sapient creatures and have a desire to grow stronger, hence why wild encounters exist.
I always figured that Fossil Pokemon weren't all Rock type back before they went extinct. The rock type is a result of the revival process being done on fossilized remains, with the exceptions of the Tirtouga, Shieldon, and Cranidos lines.

The Arven we travel with isn't the real/original Arven. The real Arven was killed during his previous trip to Area Zero, in the same battle where Mabosstiff was critically injured. The Arven we know is the physical manifestation of the desires of either his deceased parent or Mabosstiff (specifically, their desire for Arven to survive/get a chance to live a normal life), given physical form by the disk pokemon.
I only have a little while longer before this one is inevitably jossed by the DLC, so I'm enjoying it while I still can.

My moronic headcanon is that Arven actually only has the one parent in either version and/or is the result of some sort of experiment. I don't believe his conception was natural either way. The prof seems too autistic to get laid, plus the never call the alleged other parent their husband/wife/spouse, just "that man/woman" who left not too long after "the boy" was born. It sounds all very depersonalized.
I generally think that the prof's diary or whateve might be full of red herrings. Things are so ambiguously phrased that I don't know if the prof was just too autistic to write like a human being or if it deliberately covers up the truth.

This is actually stated in the manga, Pokemon Adventure.
But I liked the idea that the reason why the player, some random 10 years old, is such a powerful Pokemon trainer is because the Pokedex.
The entire game UI is the Pokedex.
A regular trainer needs to figure out by themselves which moves their Pokemon know, their status, their location, etc. So they really struggle to train their mons.
