Sadly the combat is still the worst part of those games. By the end of SoL I was sending my mosquito to bite things 20 times per turn which ended most fights in a single round, but it had to zip back and forth laboriously over and over and over.
That's true, but at least it's better (as in, more entertaining) than any other game with excel combat I had displeasure of playing... and you can make combat run at 300% speed.
You can't actually be serious. DQ8 gets tedious towards the end when you're burnt out from the random battles but I tried to finish DQ11 3 times and could never do it. It's so fricking bad

Shadow Tactics: Blades of the Shogun. It's pretty good about not having excessive patrol routes that you have to wait for, and being top-down means there's no guesswork about whether you can leave your cover or not. I also really like how it plays more like a puzzle game than a stealth game, especially if you do the optional objectives.
Don't like bullet hells in general, just don't have the patience for them most of the time, but I really like the exploration and bosses of Rabi-Ribi and the new game, Tevi. Still not big on the harder difficulties, probably only gonna play this one on Hard instead of Expert (the plant ran me through something fierce) but the fact that I can have fun grinding out attempts on Expert says something in itself.
Momodora is great, despite Metroidvania being shilled to hell and back by Redditurds.
Haven't really given it much thought but that might be it.
You might try getting into Total War: Rome 2 for a similar dynamic. You still have the standard bird's-eye RTS view going on, but having your commander in formation is really interesting when he can be flanked, shot, charged, or routed like any other unit, and yet he and his bodyguard are too valuable and capable to just sit on the sidelines. It might not be full-stop "game over" if he dies, but when dude's been campaigning across half the Mediterranean for like 10 years and takes an arrow in the neck, you FEEL the loss.

>Xenoblade was really fricking good
Whenever I see people say this I cant help but think the person is either just a Nintendo shill or they must have seriously shit taste in jrpgs.
I've never played a more boring, uninteresting, shallow game in my whole life. The story is shit, the gameplay just plays itself and you press 3 buttons, the characters have no personality, cities are trash. Nothing about this game improves from the first 20 minutes of it. The only thing it has is that the remastered version has better graphics
My friend at the time was a massive nintendo fanboy and he was so incredibly excited for xenoblade getting localized, i remember when it released he told me how a character dying shocked him to tears.
Play it myself a decade later to find out that death happens in like three hours from starting the game.
I quit the game as soon as i left the tutorial area. Shulk is one incredibly boring protagonist.
I heard that too and was told by a tendie that her death was just as important/upsetting and shocking as Arieths death in FF7. I was like nig wtf!? The b***h died like 2 hours into the game! You dont get to know anything about her, her back story or anything because she dies 2 hours in!
She didnt mean shit because she never gets the chance too and by the 4th hour shes replaced by boring girl with gun who's brother is moronic.
Xenoblade is truly shit.
Xenoblade 2 coasts off xenosaga.
Xenoblade 3 was garbage.

This same friend i mentioned was INSANELY hype about bayonetta 2 because it was a wii U exclusive, never played bayo 1, didnt even know what wonderful 101 was and never played dmc1, but because the wii u was getting an exclusive and because it was from a niche series he was ready for "the best action game in history"
"Bro, reviewers said it's a game you pick up and you don't wanna stop playing, woah"

Conan Exiles. I hated Rust and I hated Ark, so I guess the whole survival crafting genre isn't for me, but I've spent like the last 2 weeks building a cozy little village and populating it with NPC's and I can't stop.
You can hide in burrows underground, which is very safe (besides the few predators who have evolved just to frick your life up)
You can hide in grass, and be safe from any predator who relies on sight (eg. pretty much every bird)
Being small means that you reach adulthood in a fraction of the time, and you can deliver a lot more babies to perpetuate your species
Actually having to play the "instruments' to hear the song should be a requirement for rhythm. Instead it's just flashing ADHD lights and bars and arrows. Boring.
Alien Isolation.
I hate horrors with first person view, especially when you can't kill the enemy and have to hide from it. This twitch streamer baiting genre should never be a thing. But Alien Isolation is one of the best games ever.
Their fur is sort of wiry like dog fur, except their ears are the softest things you'll ever touch. They also like having their ears rubbed so it's win/win.
I want to get a put bunny but I hear they kind of stink and shit all over the place. Can this be controlled? They seem like they are as fluffy as a cat but more relaxed.
some chinese foreign exchange student i knew wouldn't bother cleaning up the poop so when i visited her apartment for a project it was just fricking everywhere
It's possible to train them to use a litterbox like a cat. You have to bathe them occasionally though, which is a bit tricky because they do not like being held.
They don't smell like anything at all, and their poop is literally hard round balls that don't leave a mess and are far easier to clean than basically any other animals feces
But they will gnaw through all your electric cables, such as controller cables and the power cords of your consoles
Don't have a bnuybro but from what I've heard from other anons they are pretty manageable in cleanliness regards. They aparently can be trained to use a litterbox like cats, and will generally clean themselves to the point of vanity. They aparently love being clean.
However they're easily stressed out and they get stressed from virtually anything.
Too much attention, not enough attention, too much fun, too much boredom, etc. From the vids I've seen and anons I've (you)'d they can be very affectionate and smart, but they can also be aloof and dumb as rocks, depending on their mood. I guess very catish.
Nonetheless, theyre cute, so it's worth it
Personally I want a fluffy loppy eared white bun to name Fëanor and pet while I'm gaming as he sleeps on my desk with a lettuce leaf in his mouth
It's not hate, but I rarely play games that are in first person due to getting motion sickness/headaches easily, and because of that, don't bother with them typically. For some reason, whatever Capcom did with Resident Evil 7 & 8, they made it work, where I didn't/barely felt any motion sickness. I also enjoyed the games in general for what they were. I normally prefer third person games, but I wouldn't mind if Resident Evil 9 was first person, if they kept it going.
I love owls. My half sister found three baby ones recently that were thrown out of their nest by a crow and has been raising them. Two have matured and flown away, one is still with her.

I love owls too
Theyre such cool birds
Probably the peak of birds honestly
Tell your sister I said good job and thank you for doing that. Radagast would be proud of her
Also is she cute and can I have her number?
Black Souls 2. I usually despise most JRPGs, but this one managed to stick with me.
The other genres I dislike (gachas and MMOs) don't have any good games.
I absolutely adore visual novels, and it's really hard to pick just one. If I had to though, I'd probably have to go with Meakashi-Hen from Higurashi. Say what you will about Higurashi as a whole, Meakashi-Hen was an experience, with an incredible soundtrack, beautiful art (frick the anti-soul gays) and an amazing story that did an incredible job contextualizing and answering the questions of Watanagashi-Hen in a satisfying way that made sense with the clues we had been provided so far, while still keeping the mystery alive for the rest of the arcs.
not really a game, but i love the country radio station in gta san andreas, but hate country. theres also a band i absolutely love who did an entire country album which is fantastic and one of my favorite albums, but still, i fricking hate country music
i like those two examples, exclusively. if it was "oh and i like a few other songs" id be okay with saying i did, but its ONLY those two, and every other country song i hear makes me want to kill myself more then the song writer could ever
havent yet, so far. one was a game setting, one was a band i just liked that much. if i ever hear a country song outside of those contexts, sure, but till that day
Why would I waste my time like that?

katawa shoujo is the only non-porn VN I could force myself to complete because of its status as a Ganker product. Lily is best girl btw.
>non-porn
...eh?
NTA, but can you really jerk off to the scenes in Katawa Shoujo? It's far too emotionally driven for me to become lustful.
Bunnies are ghosts
HarmoKnight.
Actually having to play the "instruments' to hear the song should be a requirement for rhythm. Instead it's just flashing ADHD lights and bars and arrows. Boring.
I don't like fighting games because I suck at them but street fighter 6 has a pretty fun single player mode and a great create a character mode.
Nice feet lul.
Bnuuy threads are the best threads
I agree =)
Alien Isolation.
I hate horrors with first person view, especially when you can't kill the enemy and have to hide from it. This twitch streamer baiting genre should never be a thing. But Alien Isolation is one of the best games ever.
I really liked Bravely Default but I cannot be fricked playing any other jrpgs.
what do rabbits feel like
fluffy kicks
Their fur is sort of wiry like dog fur, except their ears are the softest things you'll ever touch. They also like having their ears rubbed so it's win/win.
I want to get a put bunny but I hear they kind of stink and shit all over the place. Can this be controlled? They seem like they are as fluffy as a cat but more relaxed.
you could get one of the really fricking big ones
i've heard they're more manageable and are more like dogs when it comes to the poop
They don't stink, but their shit is easy to clean up
some chinese foreign exchange student i knew wouldn't bother cleaning up the poop so when i visited her apartment for a project it was just fricking everywhere
It's possible to train them to use a litterbox like a cat. You have to bathe them occasionally though, which is a bit tricky because they do not like being held.
Bro they are rats, frick yea they shit anywhere they want whenever they want.
From my experience with a rat, they will signal you when they want to shit. Dunno about rabbits really.
They don't smell like anything at all, and their poop is literally hard round balls that don't leave a mess and are far easier to clean than basically any other animals feces
But they will gnaw through all your electric cables, such as controller cables and the power cords of your consoles
I wonder if I could coat all my wires in a bitterant to discourage it.
just get wire covers.
Just keep an eye on him when he's roaming dummy
You dont need to fricking posion him
Just like switch carts, they are super bitter tasting
Never got into racing games but really like Wipeout Omega
OH MY FRICKING FRICK
I FORGOT ALL ABOUT WIPEOUT
I NEED THOSE FRICKING SOUNDTRACKS BACK IN MY LIFE FRICK
It's not hate, but I rarely play games that are in first person due to getting motion sickness/headaches easily, and because of that, don't bother with them typically. For some reason, whatever Capcom did with Resident Evil 7 & 8, they made it work, where I didn't/barely felt any motion sickness. I also enjoyed the games in general for what they were. I normally prefer third person games, but I wouldn't mind if Resident Evil 9 was first person, if they kept it going.
Titanfall 2
I love owls. My half sister found three baby ones recently that were thrown out of their nest by a crow and has been raising them. Two have matured and flown away, one is still with her.
Based sister
I love owls too
Theyre such cool birds
Probably the peak of birds honestly
Tell your sister I said good job and thank you for doing that. Radagast would be proud of her
Also is she cute and can I have her number?
She already married a gamer, sorry.
The Stanley Parable - Walking Simulators
Mario Kart DS - Racing games
Wizardry 8 - WRPG/CRPGs
Age of Empires 2
Stardew Valley
Total War Warhammer 3
Alien: Isolation (moreso FPS in general rather than survival horror)
Mutant League Hockey
Colin McRae Rally 2
Kunio Kun no Nekketsu Soccer League
I fricking despise sportsball games but this one rocks.
not really a game, but i love the country radio station in gta san andreas, but hate country. theres also a band i absolutely love who did an entire country album which is fantastic and one of my favorite albums, but still, i fricking hate country music
Anon it's okay to admit that you like some country music.
i like those two examples, exclusively. if it was "oh and i like a few other songs" id be okay with saying i did, but its ONLY those two, and every other country song i hear makes me want to kill myself more then the song writer could ever
I mean, that still counts as liking some country. And you might come across more that you like.
havent yet, so far. one was a game setting, one was a band i just liked that much. if i ever hear a country song outside of those contexts, sure, but till that day
frick country
I literally entered this thread just to say bnuuy
Have a great day Ganker
my favorite game is Project N from the racism genre of games.
smash is ok
>Hate tower defense
They're all dogshit. Which is why I hate the genre.
i want to frick rabbits
Rabi Ribi (Metroidvania)
Streets of Rage 4 (Beat em Up)
Persona 4 (JRPG)
just trying to prevent mating or something?
Kick her ass, Seabass!
Demon’s Souls (PS5) or Sekiro.
FromSoulsBloodSoftLikeBorne games are trash.
i want to flop its ears over its eyes
i hate survival games but minecraft is ok i guess
