Impressive with art that mogs the mainline games. Hearing they disbanded the team that was putting the mystery dungeon games together gamefreak must have realized it too.
Im gonna be the contrarian of the thread and say that I love the first two games to death, Blue Rescue Team is my most replayed Pokemon game and Explorers has a near and dear place in my heart.
I just wanted to be a fricking pokemon going to the market, meeting new friends, exploring, roleplaying as a pokemon villager. Instead I had to play the most stressful game of attrition in a scary cave where everything wants to kill me.
I genuinely just want a pokemon animal crossing. Not a pokemon roguelike.
I never played it because I think MD-style randomized-every-time-you-leave-town dungeon crawlers are shit. It's like they took every possible enjoyable aspect of a CRPG and threw it away, then handed you a bag of scraps and gravel and told you to have fun. Admittedly, I have no idea if PMD is actually uses the same dollar store roguelite framework as MD, I've judged it based on nothing but its name.
Great games. The newest one really polished the gameplay to be smoother and more balanced than previous entries, and it's fun to completely break the game and get out of impossible situations with enough gameplay knowledge
>no basic attack >instead you get PP recovery out the ass >rare qualities are busted
how is that better? only good thing is they took out the neverending IQ grind
These were amazing. They made the pmd world feel so boundless and expansive, and full of wonders and mysteries.
They've always reminded me of the impossible geography and sceneries of the old movies which had a similar fantastical and romantic feeling that made the world seem huge.

Explorers of sky is the best Pokemon game ever made and one of the best game ever made >Good stoy >Memorable characters >Iconic OST >Fun dungeons (no 99 floor bullshit) >very good post game >The added stories are amazing, yes even the Bidoof arc
so many others have mentioned it but god damn I remember being the backseat of the car going to some science summer camp and fightin back the fricking tears

>gameplay is nothing revolutionary >I really liked that pokemon were characters instead of just mute mimes who jump random people in hopes of being forced into wienerfights. >the story, which has you and your partner go through thick and thin and you care for each other, was the highlight
yeah, loved the first one, the third was quite good but i hated the second one, not because it was bad, but because i had a horrible ecxperience with it. the sd where i had it got corrupted and had to start all over and the new rom that i found was in japanese so i never finish it
MD sucks and pokemon is probably the worst one of the bunch. the wandered/DQ/EO are better but still garbo
Cried at the end. Btw post endgame isn't canon
2 is way better
I tried it. It's not fun.
>enters floor
>a Monster House appears
I only played blue rescue team
I liked it

source or gtfo
>Hearing they disbanded the team that was putting the mystery dungeon games together
homie you cant say that without a source to back that up
It gave me Isekai fantasies.
>Your Char: Totodile
>Companion: Charmander
The expressions alone are worth it.
I refused to evolve my pokemon because they took away portrait boxes
Im gonna be the contrarian of the thread and say that I love the first two games to death, Blue Rescue Team is my most replayed Pokemon game and Explorers has a near and dear place in my heart.
>player character is decided by a personality test
HOLY FRICKING SOUL

that's boring. Animal Crossing is boring.

Rescue Team is good but Explorers is way better
Comfy game the Pixel work is especially beautiful
Fun, fantastic visuals and music. It could stand to be a little harder like Shiren, I think.
>inb4 this post is filled with remake removed these and turned them into art pieces
can we just take a moment to notice how much effort went into this series art and sprites when compared to mainline pokemon

one of my fave series of all time
Best spinnoff for the entire franchise.
Far better then the mainline games gameplay by miles.
A friend in middle school gave me his copy and i lost it
i'm going to relisten to the soundtrack and go see if Ican play this again. FRICK I miss my childhood sometimes.
NDS and GBA emulation is easy, replay them anon, they aged like fine wine
Sky has a modding scene now, have fun.
holy shit, please let me have the source
Not sure which, but it's here somewhere.
https://hacks.skytemple.org/
Grew up on GBA with this one too. The series is unreplayable but it is a roguelike.
i found my old gameboy and was going to play it, but the battery is dead
i ahve good memories of it and the ost is amazing
Anyone else like pokemon ranger?
