Dark Soulless fromslop has always been abominable, and has unironically destroyed the action RPG as a genre. It did to action RPGs what World of Warcraft did to the MMO.

100% agreed, its largely about an online circlejerk about how theyre the truest most hardcore gamers because they did trial and error to do basic memorization or learn the gimmick to get past whatever the challenge was. the worst part is they learn the patterns and tricks and then think they're good at the game because they can just repeat it

RPGs should be more like immersive sims, focused on player skill / knowledge and less on character stats & abstractions, moving away from tabletop roots which translate poorly to games. for example, lockpicking as a mini-game reliant on player skill and not a number check
also, RPG mechanics and real time action combat generally suck when combined. one was made for pen and paper and dice rolls and the other for direct player control and reflexes. blasting a shotgun at someone's head point-blank and them not dying because their 'level' is too high will always look and be silly

Capcom are the only AAA developer who are still willing to take occasional risks and their business model of free DLC followed by removal of denuvo after time has passed and expansion pack-like content that's paid like for REmake 4 should be the model all devs follow.
Monolithsoft is one of the only JRPG developers that still have an ounce of passion left in the industry and Nintendo should allow them to do a new IP now that Xenoblade is "complete" after they make an open world Pokemon game that brutally mogs Game Freak forever.

Starfield is hated because it's not a good Bethesda game. It's nothing to do with hating on games in general; it's to do with its overwhelming lack of content and an experience that Bethesda usually provides. When you play Fallout 4 or Skyrim, you will hit a point of interest every 2 minutes while wandering around, at least. Play Starfield, and you've got a point of interest every 5 minutes, which requires you to traverse boring, lifeless terrain. Bethesda games work when you do a quest and can get sidetracked by discovering other locations- but exploring a barren landscape with nothing to look at that evokes zero emotion is BORING.
I'm glad stealth games are dead, stealth mechanics suck ass. They are the worst part of any game that includes them.
