I'm really conflicted on it. On one hand I think it's too focused on being a dark Ocarina of Time and pandering to those people that cried about Wind Waker not looking like that random tech demo Nintendo showed off. I think it also has a terrible intro with bizarre pacing and design (catch a fish for a cat). I think that Wolf Link is horribly underutilized and the story and characters don't get a satisfying ending, aside from Midna. Also the last boss just taking place in a ring out in the middle of Hyrule Field is lame. Just remove the ring. There's no reason for it to be there.
On the other hand it looks fantastic, sounds great, has some of the best dungeons in the 3D games and a lot of them. The moment to moment gameplay is awesome and it feels really big although I can't play the game on the Gamecube though because I'm too attached to the Midna giggles through the Wii-mote. The story that IS there I really like. Zant is awesome. Ganon is cool. Midna is great.
My problem is every time I go back to re-evaluate it (only beat it once on release) is that I can barely get myself to slog through the first dungeon which I absolutely hate. So I never go past that.
Have you read the manga? It's only somewhat canon but does a lot to flesh out Zelda, Link, and the overall world beyond just Midna. Link also kisses her in both imp and uncursed form.
I highly recommend it. I've got it physical but unfortunately even though the translation finished a year or two ago I'm not sure if there's any scans of all the volumes online.

I saw like 7 volumes of it at a vintage shop in my town a few weeks back, I was tempted to grab the ones they had because they were 10 bucks each, but I may save it for another time. They had the ones for the Oracles, Link's Awakening, and Ocarina as well
$10 for a new copy is about standard, if not less. You could get them off Amazon or wherever for that price. My understanding is that TP is the only one that's genuinely good. The others are just pretty rote kids shonen and short on top of that, where TP got 11 volumes that are solidly written and expand on the game quite a bit.
In that case, I may go back and get the ones they have and finish the set at some point. TP is my second favorite Zelda game and I love the story of it so I'd love to see how the manga adapts it.
>Also the last boss just taking place in a ring out in the middle of Hyrule Field is lame.
I thought it was cool, it's way better than being in some fricking wanker hole in the ground like with TotK.
Its okay. I kinda didn't like some of the equipment you used in the game at first but I did like some of them after using them more. The claw shot was kind of nice. the ball and chain was fun, just wish it was able to be used more as a weapon than a gimmick for puzzles. The top was stupid. I liked the depiction of Link in the game more than a lot of others in the series. The Wii version was garbage, only play the GameCube version.
It's my personal favorite. I'm probably more intimately familiar with the game's flaws than most detractors are, but I really don't care about most of them. Love the melancholic atmosphere, love the sword skills, love the dungeon gimmicks, love the "rule of cool" attention to detail and setpiece moments. I do wish it were a more challenging game to match the tone but eh, it is what it is.
Its decent but Zant should have been the main villain instead of Ganondorf again. And Midna sucks, sorry. I know people go dicky UWOOOOOAH UGUUU, but I genuinely don’t care and I never will.
it's probably the slowest to start of any zelda games but once it gets rolling is very good
especially once you can freely swap between wolf and human form
Felt like a good sequel to OoT and MM. Had some problems, but overall i like this style of Zelda game a lot, i've never really been sure how I feel about the Wolf thing. A lot of it feels like a remake of a link to the past, in its themes. Feels like the last game that made sense in the overall lore of the series. Character-wise I really like this version of Zelda the best I think.
One thing I reallly don't like is I do feel like you can feel the decisions of making the series more cartoonish. Launching out of a canon to the sky temple and falling a mile but landing in water so you're ok was never something I really liked about the series. I like when it feels more grounded. its always played pretty loose with its own rules, but it feels like there's more of a choice in which direction to take future games in the bones of this one.
I have intense nostalgia for it and that's the only reason it's one of my favorite games. I don't care about any other Zelda titles.
If I'm trying my best to be objective about the quality, I don't think any part of the game is bad. Someone that plays it for the first time as an adult is just in for a fairly linear fantasy adventure that's not difficult but not boring either.
It had some of the coolest items in the series, learning new sword tech was fun as hell and the world had soul. What sucks is that the wolf parts simply aren't fun (who thought that playing with a constant dark filter to find bugs was a good idea?), the early game is a slow start and the game is too easy.
it has the highest highs, but also the lowest lows of any zelda game. it has some truly miserable, almost on-rails segments, but also the best bosses, dungeons, and story beats in the series. i love it.
I regret buying it on the wii because I don't like motion controls. I should have bought it on gamecube back in 2006.
I liked that they wanted to be more dark and adult with this game. But in the end I think it was still pretty childish and OoT and MM were scarier with the redeads.
After I played the horrible skyward sword, I wish they would do a zelda like twilight princess again.
I really want to replay it now. The last time I beat it was in 2009
>5 hr tutorial >bug hunting >wolf sections >Terrible pacing >Ganondorf was behind it all! >Just as easy as Wind Waker >Dull ugly version of OoT >Terrible Anime story >Useless items >Dungeons are glorified set pieces >Overworld is somehow worse than the N64 games.
Wolf form was trash, intro is way too long, bug hunting is blatant padding, it has no identify besides trying to be OoT for the Wii.. yet it's still a pretty fun game. The dungeons are really good and plentiful.
I'd rank it behind OoT, MM and ToTK
Shame the high difficulty mode is trapped on a shit console and amiibo toys.
Though the more I see of the HD version the more I'm glad I still have the Wii version.
Third best 3D Zelda behind OoT and MM. It has its flaws, but it's a complete game and a satisfying Zelda adventure
Correct.
it's my favorite

No, but I have wanted to pick it up some time.

Surely just a peck on the cheek in imp form r-right?
Yes, because they're cowards. Uncursed kiss had tongue tho
God damn TP Link is a stud.

I immediately muted those. It made me feel like I was playing with some cheap fisher price toy.
good aesthetic, bad everything else
The manga offers a better experience.

Sequel WHEN?
It was supposed to happen. We got Link's Crossbow Training instead. Thanks, Miyamoto.
palworld is better

It was like a greatest hits album with a bonus disc of weird experimental shit. I enjoyed it a lot at the time.

That's Wind Waker, Phantom Hourglass, Skyward Sword and Tears of the Kingdom
best of the post-64 pre-botw zeldas, but still flawed. Way better than WW/SS
I have not found a single soul who loved Twilight Princess who didn't love Pandora's Tower. May some anon here disprove me on this??
I like TP but I never played Pandora. I did play Last Story and Xenoblade though.
they should try making ganon a hard boss sometime
I regret buying it on the wii because I don't like motion controls. I should have bought it on gamecube back in 2006.

Best waifus.
what the frick is this shit man
ghastly
you called?
It's decent, better than WW but still a shit Zelda. Beats Zelda 2 at least
At the time I really didn't like it. The wolf was garbage, the first 20% of the game was garbage. These days, after BotW, I'd beg for more TP
50% of the game are fricking tutorial and the enemies barely deal any damage, making 3 hearts challenge basically mandatory to not get bored to tears.
Wolf form was trash, intro is way too long, bug hunting is blatant padding, it has no identify besides trying to be OoT for the Wii.. yet it's still a pretty fun game. The dungeons are really good and plentiful.

OoT for the furry fanbase
Them clowns don't sit right with me.
Did anyone else notice the difference in the talking noises Midna makes after Zelda revives her? It's noticeably more somber.
She stops being condescending to Link.
One of the lines before they mix it up and add the effects is her saying, "Why are you so stupid?"
>4 hour long tutorials are AMAZING SOUL when nintendo game
frick you and frick this game
