DF looks and feels like some weird gay Disney cartoon but they finally ironed out the gameplay for the most part. There is no ridiculous developer incompetence and game design moronation drama to obsess over so people can actually look at the game objectively and decide they are terminally addicted and will play forever or they are tired of the same gameplay loop they have been trapped in for 10+ years and can just stop playing.
The people happy with the game aren't going to be super visible (especially because the game looks like actual genuine furhomosexual slop now) and the number of being assmad at the developers has decreased substantially. You still get some of the more hardcore followers who don't play the game but are hoping it will return to lulcow status and weird neurotic obsessives spitefully hoping the game dies instead of just not caring about it anymore.

that and the tone of EVERYTHING is some gay corporate HR handbook pride parade bullshit. everyone is awesome, everything is about affirmation, it's like if you fed Warcraft lore books to an AI that was initially trained on self help books. it's that same bland writing that Overwatch had where the banter between the characters was so flaccid because anyone really jabbing anyone would go against that same corporate HR pride parade atmosphere.
