What kind of individual can actually stand to consistently, willingly consume this? I put 2 hours into Origins yesterday and I can't even be assed to do even one region of the fricking game let alone the entire fricking game map... it's the very definition of "soulless" tedium.
How does this shit have enough of a fan base to keep pushing out yearly installments?
They can't do yearly installments anymore it's been 3 years since Valhalla came out
They can't do yearly installments because they keep insisting these games be 20hr+ affairs when they functioned perfectly fine as 8-10hr long games before the RPG bullshit.
More like 100+ hours, that's how long Odyssey and Valhalla are. They could make a 20 hour one a lot faster.
I really should check out this $9 physical copy of Odyssey I grabbed out of boredom for PS4 at some point then just so I have a better frame of reference. I stopped the series after they stopped releasing them on PS3.
Did mean to play Origins at some point though on PC which I heard was quite alright for someone that was big into Brotherhood/Revelations. Frick do I miss the multiplayer though.
This and it's all hundreds of hours of boring fricking shit and they just keep making the game worlds BIGGER.
Yeah but then how are you supposed to collect 1000 useless collectibles? Don't you want to travel 10 minutes through nothingness to get another price of useless loot you'll just ultimately sell.
the early ones were 20+
ac1 was a bit shorter because all the open areas between cities were just templars and there were hardly any side quests like doing leo's inventions, the conspiracy stuff, etc. from 2 onwards.
Even then man... Why keep making the frickers? They're fricking BORING. My question still stands.
Modern Asscreed has no fanbase per se. People back then followed the series for Desmond and Ezio as the games has an interesting continuous plotline. Nowadays it's kind of a historic wankfest that people buy in order to walk over the pyramids or fight in the Colosseum or whatever. It's also the kind of game you give to your dudebro friend who has all versions of cod and you can't think of anything that would make him happy
only because everything these days turned into a nebulous "action rpg"
the early ones were fun
Do the modern games still have that modern day animus plot? Because never once while I was playing did I switch over to that normie dude in the virtual reality bed or whatever.
Did they just eventually do away with that stuff?
ive only played egypt and greece new ones. they unfortunately still do it but you're never kicked out of the animus for very long. nothing as annoying as 4 where you had to walk around the office with a tablet collecting a bunch of crap
They still have it, the characters are different but it's the same shit.
worsly, the people outside the animus started being all females, so it made even less sense.
What was that Apple of Eden thing from the earlier games? Was that shit ever resolved? Was it just "muh technologically advanced progenitor race" or some shit?
You meet members of that race in Odyssey, they basically created humans as a sort of slave race and the humans with eagle vision like AC protagonists are mixed blood humans with the strongest bloodlines left from their race.
yes. when you play 2 onwards it introduces precursors/those who came before/isu who made all pieces of eden to control humans. further games show isu mated with humans and made demigods of sorts like the mc of odyssey.
just finished as:unity and watched a summary video
its bullshit
People like me, who have 500 hours on each RPG title released so far.
>I put 2 hours into Origins yesterday and I can't even be assed to do even one region of the fricking game let alone the entire fricking game map... it's the very definition of "soulless" tedium.
You are the problem, not the game.
Only games I have 200+ hours in are New Vegas and Red Dead 2. I can do it, there just has to be... interesting stuff to do.
sasuga attention span anon-san
>What kind of individual can actually stand to consistently, willingly consume this
You do not look like that
It was my comfort food when I wanted to play something and turn off my brain while playing it.
Because, young autist, people have different tastes and preferences than you. I know that's a very hard concept to understand, but it's nonetheless true. There are anons - gamers just as skilled and soulful as you - that think your favorite games are boring and shit. Their views and perspective are just as valid as yours.
Stop throating feces
They're fine if you space them out. Problem was Ubisoft saturated the market.
>mfw chilling out in the dunes with Bayek taking my time and game keeps pushing Aya and Egyptian/Roman politics in my face
Anyone who makes threads like these should always be forced to write their own favourite games to play first.
No.
Exploration is le fun
I didn't play the viking one though because of troony shit and viking is simply overused and boring as a setting.
I also skipped Unity, Syndicate and Revelations.
Black Flag > Origins > Brotherhood > the rest
The early ones were genuine. There was something sincere and lovely about running around historical locations with immersive atmosphere and nice ambient music.
holy normalgay
die in a ditch

IIRC like with many such cases, the suits had a dispute with the main writer(s) who wanted to finish the Desmond Saga with an AC taking place in 21st century playing as Desmond himself, so we ended up with the AC3 we got instead.
Those games aren't particularly bad.
>Unity
Amazing parkour and stealth, everything else is forgettable.
>Syndicate
Fun turf wars.
>Revelations
Ezio and Altair in the same game.
>Amazing parkour and stealth, everything else is forgettable.
This. I just tried Unity thanks to that Ubisoft+ promotion. The parkour got a nice upgrade and getting randomly impaled or shot and killed dead is definitely more Assassin-y than anything I'd done in Black Flag (the last one I'd played).
But good god does the game take a very quick turn for the worse. The MC is fun and wienery for a bit and then he joins the Assassins and it's like watching some 12 year old's fanfiction. Instead of presenting some fun story or the history, I'm just met with a billion symbols of things I really do not care about doing.
Name of the pic?
Watch a summary of 1, play the Ezio games and finish with 3 when Desmond died.
got shit after black flag.
they blatently abandoned the stealth aspect of being an assassin which made every gameplay mechanic. Ezio Auditore de Firenze ftw
I played odeyssey a bit and it's also horrible. They for some reason threw everything unique about assasins creed out of the window to be a witcher clone. Some may remember from the last thread but I couldn't even assasinate the main target on the 2nd island. I was lvl 8 or 9 and he was level 10. I had to assasinate, disengage and assasinate him THREE FRICKING TIMES. And I didn't even mention how janky the cutscenes and gameplay are especially that zelda slow motion dodge lol. The world is bloated with garbage and caves with shit loot. I'm just really glad I pirated it
