FPBP, morons think that there is one objectively best RPG, intelligent people realize that taste is subjective and that the best RPGs are the ones you enjoy playing the most.
Intellectuals play a variety of RPGs to broaden their experience and figure out what game suits their personal tastes best. Then they go back to playing Pathfinder 1e because they have all the rules memorized and their friends need to be spoon fed
D&D 5e or if they started earlier. Unless the GM is a geek and gets them started on his pet system, they'll play whatever is popular and varied enough, and D&D fits the bill. It's make believe with friends, the system doesn't really matter. Intellectuals can be particular on some topics, but are mostly the same midwits as everyone else on the rest.

ACKS to self relate their ability to do lots and lots of minute number crunching >Humanities
Heavily homebrewed dnd5e to self fellate their ability to talk for hours
Old mechanically heavy RPGs like Chivalry and Sorcery, Runequest 2e, Traveller, Twilight 2000 etc but run closer to tabletop RPGs wargaming roots rather than modern storygames.
HERO System filters so many people it has to be that one. Build whatever you want, if you can. Also, the character builder software is $20 to act as a further filter. You need to be smart and employed.
They try several and then end up settling into a homebrewed monstrosity that combines what they like from several games and is mechanically rooted in the first game they really got into, despite not really being compatible with the core rules at this point. Their horrific abominations don’t function outside their playgroup, collapsing in on themselves without the guidance of the brewer’s intentions.
The ones that fit their tastes

D&D since you become exhausted due all thinkingg.
Maid rpg, of course
There's some pictures/paintings of famous generals/philosophers playing historicals so those probably
The game.

Why did you feel the need to hurt everyone like that
This and because their friends refuse to try anything else...
Frick you anon, you hurt my feelings

Hey now, my group did switch over to Pathfinder 2e fricking kill me I'm so tired of it.
5e. obviously

Whatever the frick they want, since they're not moronic enough to obsess over whether they're an intellectual or not.
F.A.R.T. the sniffin'ing
they especially like to argue about which edition/translation is best.
This sounds like something old /tg/ would homebrew.
>Fastidiousness

What's the game like?
It stinks!
If I told you, you and other low-IQ plebs would infest my game so I won't.

The ones the make themselves.
How is your war against general threads, OP?
Well they took out the ASOIAF General so that counts for something
GURPS or Traveller, PF2E if they're into heroic fantasy
They min/max their portfolio spreadsheets instead of ones for children's games
The kind I play. Idiots play the kinds of TRPGs that you play.
Chess
Extremely abstract shit that everyone else calls missing mechanics. This is a hobby for midwits.
I think they'd appreciate mechanical rigidity.
Freeform because only a midwit would need rules.
Enjoy what you enjoy. But don't insult others over your crippling desire to confirm your beliefs as superior.
The game for intellectuals and women? 40k

>nobody posted the obvious answer
GURPS. It's blissfully simple and yet expansive, just like Euler's identity.
>blissfully simple
why is everyone going on about how complex it is then?
also it isn't suited to do stuff beyond realism
FKR

Are any of them good for a single person to play by themselves?
D&D because anyone that calls themself an intellectual is an exact middle of the bell curve normalgay.
Begone from my thread foul demons. Anyone who uses AI art have no soul and therefore are less than human.
Or else what
dunno if it's a breath of fresh air, but Sword World 2.X could work.
either that or Nechronica.
Intellectuals play wargames or board games, not RPGslop.
Roleplaying games (when played correctly) are wargames. Stuff like PbtA and modern D&D are storygames and not roleplaying games.
Delta Green
Why is this board filled with so much ugly AI art?
AI image generation has reached the stage where morons can easily use it, and said morons have no self-restraint so they spam it constantly.
I don't know, I'm not an intellectual and none of my friends are. Us non-intellectuals play WFRP and Call of Cthulhu.
Big bang theory says they play dungeons and dragons.
