Besides this being bait, what the frick are you referring to? >Paradox >Domonions 6 >Civ 7 >Total War: Warhammer 3 >Company of Heroes 3
Bunch of them are coming out.
I always thought Chess was this cool intellectual game. One day I started learning it, but soon understood the truth about it.
It's a solved game where you're required to memorize hundreds of openings and react according to them. That's it.
There's no strategy involved. I lost all motivation to learn the game.
This was exactly what Bobby Fischer's sentiments were. He invented Fischer-Random variant but all the chess establishment was like NOOOOOO I JUST WANT TO MEMORIZE MY HECKIN' OPENINGERINOOOOOS, FISCHER-RANDOM REQUIRES AD-HOC THINKING I CAN'T LE HECKIN' DO THAT NOOOOO
Schools are great at teaching people to hate learning (it's probably the only thing everybody learns at school) so it's not surprising you'd see anons who don't want to learn outside of school either.
Why was Chess so fun when I was a little kid but now I find boring and pointless? I used to go to my local library (mom is a librarian) after school and I would play Chess in the Chess club they had there. I think I stopped playing once I got to high school. I would even play the Chessmaster game on Gameboy. And then it's like this switch flipped and it just stopped being interesting to me.
>Why was Chess so fun when I was a little kid
The adults pretended to be moronic so you could win and "have fun".
The other kids were moronic and quit that crap game when you won too much.
I never played adults though. I mostly just played other kids (8-12). I would also play against people on Yahoo games sometimes but I stopped when I realized people would just cheat by inputting your moves in some other software.
There is a huge difference between memorizing absurd amounts of precise opening lines(only required for top grandmasters, 0.0000001% of the playerbase) and understanding an opening on a basic level so you can reach a playable position that isn't fricked from the start.
Ah I see what you mean but it’s not really a threat imo. Kf2 to Qd2+ or Qc2+ to Kf1 so it’s not really anything, it’s just white getting hella material lead

>It's not really anything.
It doesn't need to lead anywhere. Black keeps checking forever and the king can't get out. This is a draw.
Qd1 leads to perpetual after your line, notice the bishop's diagonal. Qd1 Kf2 Qd2 Kf1 Qd1 Qe1 Qf3 then the eternal queen dance

That's why I think it's just Rg4. The move blocks the black queen's access to d1 and next move is gonna be Rh4 and the queen is pinned. I don't see how black stops that without allowing checkmate.
Rather than strategy games declining, it's just that other genres grow faster than strategy. As games become easier the people who don't want to do anything with their brains move from TV and online videos to games. The anons complaining that modern games are too easy are no longer the target audience.
RTS games got taken over by ASShomosexualS
grand strategy is still for autismos
games like civilization are just board games/grand strategy lite but more fun
I see a line where at least you pick up the pawn in e5. It's R7h6+ Rg5 R1h6 (if black takes the rook in h6 he loses the one in c6) black could try Kg7, but white could trade one rook and then win a pawn with tempo. Probably there's a better line, but this one seems safe.
Chess is more popular now than it ever was
Chess club is lame

This is an issue in America and China, and they're both paying for it.
Stop posting immediately, be quiet for several days.

R1h6+
did i write the notation correctly?
Yes, perfectly.
Rg6
Bh5
Kf5
c'mon, make my day.
Most gamers (including most anons on Ganker) are super dumb and have short attention spans.
Demographic changes.

f6
Brah just Rg8+, why worry about that pawn
Dunno, promoting would be a huge flex
That pawn will be protected anyway, Rg8+, Kh7 to Rxf8, material lead and protecting the f5 pawn and mate threat
I think there is perpetual starting with Qd1+
Yea but white move first though
Ah I see what you mean but it’s not really a threat imo. Kf2 to Qd2+ or Qc2+ to Kf1 so it’s not really anything, it’s just white getting hella material lead

I think you are correct
sneaky backwards move
There is probably perpetual after Qd1+
RG4 maybe? How does black stop Rh4?
Qe5+

Zoomers have been proven to have less of an attention span than a goldfish.

I was going to learn Shogi. But the learning curve feels steep while I have nobody to play it with.
Try lishogi.org. It has training material and online play.
Play Mahjong instead
This. You can get really autistic with mahjong, or you could just learn the basics and bullshit your way to victory (like I do)
same as chess bro what u smokin
I'm decent at the beginning of chess, but I always end up blundering an important piece near the end game. Game is bullshit.
no don't
rook to h6 skewer
