i'm inclined to say buying an xbox one and supporting it for a decade is being a b***hboy who just lets things happen. pouring your money into a platform with worse hardware and worse games does not teach the company behind it to course correct.
Xbox hardware is better than Sony and Nintendo, if ever so slightly, software's better too (quick resume, autohdr, smart delivery, back compat, dev mode), the only thing missing is millions of dollars used to coerse developers into making exclusives
>where his money goes
The past tense is "went." And where it went is to all of those games and consoles he's already played. If the concern were about his ability to continue enjoying the things he already owns, it would be legitimate. But as it stands, if he ends up displeased with what the future holds for the brand, he's more than free to divest by not buying the product anymore.
Microsoft could have brought out steam in the early years. Would have been more profitable than their console endeavors. They also too egotistical to put things on steam right now and instead put their multiplats on the Microsoft store which no one is going to use.
No one knew how big Steam would truly get. Pc gaming was a little b***h compared to consoles at the time and MS was much more successful with the 360 than Steam was.
Valve is privately owned, MS can't just acquire their nonexistent shares. Assuming they hypothetically could(they can't), if Steam was bought out by MS in the early days it wouldn't have developed into the Steam we know today. It's a non-starter, Microsoft is fricking moronic. If anything, the world would be better off if Microsoft never took off.
They did try, with MS even saying that the were making their own platform (Games for Windows Live). Gaben saw the writing on the wall and started investing on Linux.

Also, adding to the fact, you cannot move your Steam ganes to another storefront/competitor. So anyone that's using Steam now is literally locked into Steam. Same goes for any game released on other platforms. Also, PC physical releases now come with Steam Activation Keys. For all intents and purposes Steam is a monopoly. You will not find any PC Gamer that doesn't use Steam because they LITERALLY do not exist.

Yes this is how you establish a monopoly decidedly. Look at 6th console gen. PS2 despite being the inferior product launched a year before gamecube and xbox and went on to be the best selling console of all time with 15 years of active support while GC and Xbox were both monumental flops.
Being first to a market does not guarantee you will keep that market. Plenty of times the first mover got has gotten taken over by competitors. MS Office displacing Lotus Note and 1 2 3 would be a good example.
>muh monopoly
No you fricking moron, it's because every other launcher has a fraction of the utilities Steam has. Something like controller support should be a fricking baseline feature.
gays for windows shills came out in 2008, microsoft had no preexisting condition that prevented them from competing when at that point steam wasn't that big except they were overconfident buttholes that though forcing people to "upgrade" to vista for halo and making people buy a subscription for online wouldn't keep them from being the winner just because xbox was doing well at the time. And steam wasn't the first digital storefront for games either
i would use gamepass if it wasnt such a bad app and the files wernt served in whatever proprietary encryption shit theyre using which makes it impossible to find your settings or use mods. they've done this to themselves.
>monopoly
Not at all. It's just the least worst launcher. If they added controller support and more weeb games to GOG I'd probably use it just as much as I use steam.
>Even if you make something as good as gog nobody will use it.
But gog is not better than steam, it does not have the catalogue breadth because half modern devs are homosexuals who wont put their games on gog because they're scared of piracy boogeymen. I have plenty of games on gog, they are very specific niche and old games. I have plenty on steam, they are not specific old games but a wide variety. I also use steam as my primary chat client because msn messenger doesn't exist, skype was garbage and discord is dogshit for homosexuals. I already have steam open for my games, so the fact it lets me chat to my friends is an easy bonus. Steam workshop makes for the easiest modding process in most cases, free. Reviews on steam are better and more user focused except for the times a developer cries like a b***h to valve to remove their massive negative review count. Gog lacks those things.
I own zero games on most other platforms because their platform is garbage and offers me zero utility even comparable to what I have let alone better
Xbox loyalty is weird because it's insane they even have a following after the hellscape that was the Xbone reveal and the the following era of said Xbone, like it genuinely blows my mind seeing these people try going to bat for a company that actively tried to frick it's entire userbase over

It's literal shit you moron. There is no way to can pretend Microsoft Store was anything other than puree crap. You can't select which directory to install under, you can't move temp files in the directory without regedit, you couldn't, for the longest time, have multiple downloads at once.
In all ways it is the worst storefront. To make things worse it's the only storefront who's stability depended on Windows update so it would corrupt and crash constantly.
If Microsoft, the people who make windows, can't out compete steam on their own operating system then the problem isn't that Steam has a monopoly, it's that everyone else is just fricking awful at it.
It's not weird. Gaben worked for Microsoft for 10 years and knew he could do what Microsoft could not.

>100’s of 1000’s
this guy spending $100,000+ on xbox? how do you spend that much, i doubt i've spent more than $5000 in total on games in the past 30 years and my steam library has over 400 games, and i'm including my computer builds into that.
>100's of 1000's of dollars. >investment
Gonna take a shot in the dark and assume this "investment" is just him being a consoomer, right?
Should have bought some stock, dumbo.
>MS announce they will become third party and that they won't release another Xbox. >A couple of years later, MS stops supporting their Xbox Series consoles. >Another couple of years go by, and MS closes the store in their Xbox Series making any purchase you made virtually inaccessible.
It's easy to see why Xboxgays are scare.
Let's see, every xbox game ever, most special editions, every console, MULTIPLE 360s (RROD), controllers and accs, DLC, and last but not least, 2 decades worth of xbox live subs.
Not gonna do 'every Xbox game ever', but six consoles at roughly 400 ea, 4 controllers per gen at 50 ea, 100 games at 60 per game, and a 20/mo subscription for 20 years, comes out to 14000. No clue if those prices are accurate but it's nowhere near '100s of 1000s'
I mean, he's obviously overblowing things, but if you do take into account mtx of Activision games, WoW subs, etc, you may reach the six digits figure spent on literal garbage.
by thinking "i'm an adult with a job, i can afford whatever i want now" and buying any game that sounds slightly interesting, inevitably acquiring more than you'll ever play, and having shelves lined with hundreds of games while you end up only playing a few live service multiplayer games with your friends.
"hellblade looks sick, i can't wait until it comes out." on release day you receive your pre-ordered copy from amazon at your doorstep. you free it from its envelope and shrink wrap and slide it between two other games on your wall. you go back to playing call of duty. you never even played the first hellblade.
They care more about product being on other product box then the mass of layoffs, cancellations, studio closures and talent bleed. Will never understand the consoomer mindset

You can't even select multiple directories to install your games it's unironically worse than fricking EGS
https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/all/how-to-change-location-of-microsoft-store-apps/90728bdb-7ae4-4da6-b897-277df4f089e4
have a nice day you moron.
>there's literally nothing wrong with it
because anyone "new" to pc gaming isn't a fricking boomer or moron, their friends have told them what to do or they've checked online first.
here's what's wrong with the ms store: dogshit pricing, dogshit library, dogshit support, no one click chat, no reviews, no workshop, no trustworthiness or reliability in their software or company at all
nobody uses it for the same reason nobody uses origin, or ubisofts dogshit or timmys platform: they are garbage from every possible angle. It is not 2004 anymore, and their storefronts are the equivalent of storefronts from 2004.
>but downloading a program and installing it is hard
No, it isn't, it's a literal 10 second job and you know you're getting consumer focused benefit and reliability for doing it.
>Why is that?
It's
SHIT
>There's literally nothing wrong with it.
You are a goddamn terrible, awful, and moronic liar for even implying the Windows store is good or was even acceptable
Literally worse than origin, Ubiplay, and epig combined.
>Why is that? There's literally nothing wrong with it.
>Game install gets corrupted arbitrarily during a software update and cannot be removed
>Windows store now permanently owns 50-100GB of the ssd space it reserved on your drive for the install.
>Cant even delete the game files yourself because the fricking store app has permissions to the virtual file store that supercede the the local admin and the system accounts.
>only option to get your space back is to format the drive.
>Woe to anyone who installs app store games on C:
Never using that piece of shit software ever again
Make a gamer friendly platform that is really good
Ms had a slow, mega bloated approach so he left and became a billionaire
Bringing more than hype, bringing games
It's a fricking piece of plastic, these manchildren are so annoying
He spent 500 bucks on that piece of plastic tho. If he knew he would have rather spent those 500 bucks on a different (much better) piece of plastic
>these manchildren are so annoying
And yet here you are in a manchild website's video game section.
Chad gene
SN0YS are worse. I would frankly be embarrassed to make this thread when so many examples of sn0ys acting like this exist when their games get ported to PC.
>muh silence is le deafening
It seems to me a quite justified complaint, they can't keep ignoring all this as if nothing is happening.
>Xbox loyalists
>When they haven't made a game since the 360
>hundreds of thousands of dollars on xbox related things
how? even with my most generous math to xbox fanboys I can't see anyone being over like 10k? what are they buying? shares in the company? how do you get up to 200k+?
>what are they buying?
Games?
I was already being generous by assuming xbox had some games (it doesn't) and that was factored into my 10k number.
The are apparently 6569 games across all Xbox consoles; to reach $200,000 you'd have to spend an average of $31 on every Xbox game ever.
Probably more like tens of thousands. He's not thinking clearly, the poor dear.
oh wow cool, another literal who twitter thread! awesomesauce!
lack of purpose outside of consooming
>loyalty
>xbox
that's one of the cutest and most based pictures I've seen today
Brand loyalty is a hell of a thing, aside from Nintendo, everybody is going multiplatform because triple A has such ballooned budgets that there is no way they can get the return that they need or want from a single platform.
This is so cringe. I've been playing games since the NES and never got this weirdly invested in a machine that plays games.
>100’s of 1000’s
This is pretty much how the average snoy behaves tbhwyf.
>hundreds of thousands of dollars on Xbox
lmao
do Americans really?
>The silence is deafening
If this man was born a few decades earlier he would behave the same way about some sports team.
This is the equivalent to a cult leader telling their followers that god isnt real, it was just a prank bro
>1000's of dollars
how do they pee like that as girls?
lots of kegels
he tells you why: hundreds of thousands of dollars of sunk cost
Any Xbox podcast/streams right now?
brand loyalty is fricking moronic
Bottom of the cope spiral.
>It's beyond over...
thats me on the right, sadly. I concede. I kneel
>i chose to be loyal to the worst brand in gaming and now i am mad that this hasnt paid off
cool
What happened ?
xbox will not release more consoles
XBOX is going in the FOREVER BOX
>indiana jones voiced by troy baker
i am vomit
>implying anyone will want whatever the frick their 3rd party console is supposed to be
You couldnt make xbox work lmao why would anyone want to do that with you.
hey it worked great for the uhhhhh 3DO and the uhhhh sega saturn? yeah xbox should feel honored to join their ranks.
It'll just be like the Steam Deck or steam machines except for Xbox. Seeing as how everyone is jumping in like asus or lenovo, I can see how it works.
I'm a PC gamer
But it's still sad to see another console die
most humans are religious. they killed god. then they killed community and society. so now NPCs worship ideologies, celebrities, the government, and corporations
Getting stabbed in the back after YEARS OF LOYALTY
Reading tabloids and then basing a personality around it.
>exclusive scoop: man on twitter says anonymous person confirms company is making a business decision that nobody believes is good for them
Imagine thinking that people have to come and reply to that dumb shit. It's the kind of person who gets no where in live because he spends 16 hours a day acting defensive instead of actually doing shit.
Well, he's not wrong about the heavy investment part. It stings a bit being told the thing you poured so much money into is going to die overnight. It's probably not the case but people are worried now, so a statement would be appreciated.
>spent 100s of 1000s
No. No he did not.
If he's been team green since the original xbox yes he did
Cannot wait for snoys turn to seethe.
Two more weeks, Andrea Pichinini
>Same guy who leaked this also claimed even Gears of War collection is going to ps5
it they ported the 360 games unpozzed i'd play it. if it's just the boring newer ones about wahmen i'll pass.
>flushing sounds
>the silence is deafening and damaging
It's okay, he'll find a replacement.
I will never buy a PS5, that shit sucks dick. But I would totally buy a Switch 2 if I could put my Game Pass and xbox account there.
Switch 2 will only be powerful enough to play XBox One games.
I would buy a PS5 Pro if it is jail-breakable.
Corporation culture. But it's no different than sports fanaticism or brand loyalty.
>investment
moron consumerism that encouraged fanboyism of corporations as their friends and not as corporations trying to sell products.
>100’s of 1000’s
this guy spending $100,000+ on xbox? how do you spend that much, i doubt i've spent more than $5000 in total on games in the past 30 years and my steam library has over 400 games, and i'm including my computer builds into that.
there is no skill in buying something
he has no skill, yet demands to be told if he should keep buying things?
>100's of 1000's of dollars.
>investment
Gonna take a shot in the dark and assume this "investment" is just him being a consoomer, right?
Should have bought some stock, dumbo.
Steam bros keep winning
what atheism does to a mf
>100's of 1000's
How many 360 did he go through?
He must have gotten pretty dizzy
This guy 100% is the kind of person who thinks Phil Spencer is his best friend
>MS announce they will become third party and that they won't release another Xbox.
>A couple of years later, MS stops supporting their Xbox Series consoles.
>Another couple of years go by, and MS closes the store in their Xbox Series making any purchase you made virtually inaccessible.
It's easy to see why Xboxgays are scare.
gta6 will move a ton of PS5s
no one will want to buy it on an Xbox console if the console is dead
How the frick do you spend 100,000+ thousand dollars on a console?
Even over decades how many fricking games can you even buy?
>100's of 1000's of dollars
who write like that, lmao?
>who write like that, lmao?
who writes like that, lmao?
I don't understand brand loyalty
One step closer to a consoleless world.
>What makes a grown man behave like this?
Spending "100's of 1000's" on a single console will do that to you.
how do you spend 6 figures on a single brand of consoles
by thinking "i'm an adult with a job, i can afford whatever i want now" and buying any game that sounds slightly interesting, inevitably acquiring more than you'll ever play, and having shelves lined with hundreds of games while you end up only playing a few live service multiplayer games with your friends.
"hellblade looks sick, i can't wait until it comes out." on release day you receive your pre-ordered copy from amazon at your doorstep. you free it from its envelope and shrink wrap and slide it between two other games on your wall. you go back to playing call of duty. you never even played the first hellblade.
Total GaAS Death
I never thought that and I am an adult with a job. I also learned how to pirate from DALnet bots, though.
They care more about product being on other product box then the mass of layoffs, cancellations, studio closures and talent bleed. Will never understand the consoomer mindset
>20 years loyal to team green
>the facade is beginning to lift
Grim
>Brandcucks seething
When will people understand that corporations aren’t their friend?
Guys, Phil here. I just wated to say this year Xbox will have the best line up of games in it's history. Bringing more than hype, bringing teh gaemez. Trust the plan. 14 more days.
>I've spent 100's of 1000's of dollars.
>100's of 1000's of dollars
>100's of 1000's
ESL here. Does this mean he spent a multiple of 100K, as in 200K+ on Xbox paraphernalia?
My second question would be: how? You'd have to buy every single game at MSRP across every region, wouldn't you?
