One that looks like my mom's dog or my mom's bear or my mom's Totoro. Why is something like Heliolisk part normal? No clue. Game Freak is inconsistent.

The only reason this thing and its evolution aren't Normal/Flying is probably because James Shitner wanted his trash to be special.

Lacks any elemental abilities or possesses a natural ability or behavior, like scratching, hitting or growling doesn't take any elemental energy as it's a natural thing.

Pokemon that possess an elemental type alongside Normal type usually have a reason for it like:

    Pidgey - Normal/Flying - It's a simple natural bird that can fly.

Pyroar - Fire/Normal - Is a lion with fire abilities but also uses it's voice/roars for attacking (Roaring is a natural thing)

Heliolisk- Electric/Normal - It uses it's frills to absorb sunlight to use for electrical attacks, it gets its normal typing because if it doesn't absorb sunlight (like at night) it won't be able to use it's electrical abilities thus being a normal lizard.

Smoliv - Grass/Normal - Is an olive that secretes/cries/sweats liquid/juice/oil which is something natural that plants and olives can do.

    Etc
