Pals actually feel like friends, unlike Pokemon, which the game encourages you to view as nothing more than tools.
interaction with pokemon in the mainline games is very limited, this is where gamefreak dropped the ball. palworld is just scratching every itch gamefreak can't manage to themselves

This problem was getting bad starting gen 4 but it was by gen 6 that it became unbearable. Gen 7 was impossible. I have a 5 year old kid who got bored of Ultra Sun and asked to play Pokemon Rangers instead.

Most people playing this game are chinese, so all they have to do is create a red legendary dragon, call it the Nian, and they will be the game every rice eater will play.
Nintendo/Game Freak/whatever is held back by the "Our games are family friendly!" mindset while palworlds devs just want to get a fun ame. If Pokemon was given to intelligent brains or atlus etc then boom, you'll have your amazing pokemon game you all dreamed up.

How similar is Legends Arceus to Palworld?
The concept of just exploring and catciphing Pals in real time is much more fun than I thought. So maybe I should also give Arceus a try.
I personally loved PLA. The village in comfy and the quests often impact it visually, like capturing a mr mime to help protect the village will actually have him hang around at the gates.
It's a fun adventure even if it's rough around the edges. Much better than anything from GF post gen 3 to me

It's not open world rather there's the hub (Jubilife village) and the areas of hisui/sinnoh you can explore. Ball catching is there as is using smokescreens+bait. The mons are sort of lifelessly wandering in the overworld or occasionally sleeping.
Only achilles heel I think should be changed or remedied is feature actual evolution/metamorphosis, i.e. weaker pals get a new stronger form.

i only got 6 hours in it but as someone who played all Digimon and Pokémon games here is the secret. its really beginner friendly and attracts all players. lets be honest Pokémon gameplay is shit and very simplistic turn based design. this game takes the easy route and makes the battles in real time and the grind is way less painful than Digimon world next order and cyber sleuth. you're free to explore no matter your level. random encounters aren't a thing and the designs and interactivity is pretty solid for an early access. the pals show more personality than any Pokémon game
Pals do things outside of battle.
Ever since Pokémon got rid of HMs, Pokémon do frick all if not battle. You can't have a Squirtle watering a berry tree, nor a Pikachu powering up some batteries for you to use in your flashlight or generator. Pokémon are now just numbers and stats and do nothing but fight.
All I wanted is for Pokémon to do what they did in the anime, to have more uses other than being Pitbulls...
PLA honestly did so much in the good direction, only for game freak to roll back everything for SV. A shame.
They completely forgot that the feeling that you're on this adventure with your mons friends is that people want out of it. Actually, every other pokemon clone hasn't realized it either, except palworld it seems.

Because Game Freak just started making mainline console games this gen with the Switch.
Everything else like Pokemon Stadium, Colosseum and even Snap was either made by Nintendo directly or by 3rd party dev studios.
At this point, they are just experimenting as they go with each release.

It's essentially just Legends Arceus with more features and none of that silly dual style shit that no one experimented with.
Battles are real time and happen in the open world and you can put your pokemon to work and you can see them walking around and doing the grind for you. So it's Pokemon with realtime combat and automation, it's basically pure crack.

I like how the pokemon actually have different utilities and there's an actual reason to cstch more than a small handful of pokemon. Normally in pokemon you wouldn't bother with grass monkey unless you specifically wanted him on your team or if you're an autist you catch grass monkey so you can fill out the dex and let it rot in you box but in this game I'll catch the grass monkey because he can plant food for my other pokemon for me.
