What makes the driving good is that you have to actively think about it, which results in engaging gameplay.

What makes the driving good is that you have to actively think about it, which results in engaging gameplay. You don't have to focus when driving in V which in turn makes it less engaging to play.

The oldest zoomers are somewhere around 26-28 now, depending on where your cutoff is.
Some of our parents were questionably lax when we were less than 10 years old. Although I personally got it from one of my uncles.

cutoff is old enough to remember 9/11 and life before it. literally a generation defining moment for millennials

            Anonymous

Ehh I remember 9/11 because my parents stopped watching me play with my alphabet learning toys and watched the news instead. Does that count?

The oldest zoomers would have been 9 years old when the game came out, unless your parents truly didn't give a shit you were not playing GTA 4 as a zoomer child.
GTA V was the zoomer GTA

The oldest zoomers were 12 so technically the upper end of zoomers could have played it as a tween, but yeah it's mostly a millennial game.

V is casualized driving by design, bigger roads with less traffic and arcadey physics
The driving in V is strangely close to Mario Kart whereas IV is just a heavier version of the 3d era's driving physics

Not to mention the soft body physics that were present in the 2013 release outright being removed from the game because it didn't sync well online

  9. 5 months ago

True. I also love the gunplay in 4 - more grounded and realistic guns with good punchy sound and actual recoil (unless you play the shitty PC port). AK for instance - I love how it looks and and feels in IV and absolutely despise the V rendition.

      Anonymous

      >unless you play the shitty PC port
You can fix the PC port with the downgrader and one patch that restores the console recoil. The game feels great to play on PC if you're willing to tweak it a bit.

        Anonymous

Yeah, I know, played only the PC version myself. My point was that your experience could be different if you played this port as is.

But that shit is hilarious, the problem resolves by itself as soon as you grab a controller, without patches or anything. Did they think we can't aim for shit with a mouse?

  10. 5 months ago

yeah and what makes it shit is that every car has weird jelly suspension and leans right or left like a fricking sail boat which is enough to dismiss all good aspects and makes it incredibly annoying to the point you try to avoid driving cars in a fricking gta game

even San Andreas had better driving

People always bring up the lack of lackluster driving, crash physics, and animations when it comes to V.
I contend that literally every aspect of GTA gameplay is worse in V. It is the most slapped together GTA in the series and unfortunately it's the one we've been stuck with for 10 years and counting.
    >90% of the map is super wide roads lines with fake buildings that continue in one direction into infinity
    >Like 4 different pedestrian scream sounds you will hear constantly on roulette
    >Guns sound like toys
    >The game generally looks lifeless and washed out
    >Any wanted level you have won't matter for shit if you get into a flying vehicle. No challenging dogfights like San Andreas
    >Broken personal space parameter programmed into every NPC
The one good thing they added was a ragdoll button. That was fun to frick around with. But as long as they keep adding first person modes and tv shows nobody will watch and just shit nobody cares about instead of focusing on what makes a good GTA game they won't have the mandate.

        Anonymous

i didn't mind it because i wanted trevor and michael to kiss but overall i agree with you. there wasn't any significant difference in gameplay among the three of them; it only existed to prop up a mediocre story and have some funny switch scenes to try and distract you from the fact the whole game is a glorified tech demo

        Anonymous

What I really hate is when they change to different clothes when switching over to them. It's like what, my choices aren't good enough for you clownshoe frickers?

This is just a glorified courier simulator, 90% of the missions in this fricking game are about driving something somewhere.

Thats literally every GTA you fat assed vixen. Drive here, get that, oo chase this guy, shoot that dude. Thats the entire series. What makes it interesting is WHY and WHERE. The classics were the worst about this, especially the mini-games like paramedic, taxi, pimping, firefighter, COURIER etc.

        Anonymous

III and V mix it up more with all the insane Hollywood-style shit that happens in them, IV was an attempt at making a more "serious" GTA and while some elements of it are great like the protagonist the missions just start blending together after a while because they're all more or less the same, the game needed more shooting, stealth and more bombastic setpieces.

    >Florian gives you that sweet sports car when you finish up his questline
    >one of the vehicles in the game for freeform destruction derby because the engine is in the back
I spent so much time causing carnage with that car. Just drive it till the front is flatter than a pancake, park up, got to sleep and do it all again. The body deformation system in this game was so good.
