Story doesn’t matter in a video game. If I wanted a story I’d watch a movie or read a book; both of which are mediums where the quality of storytelling is drastically better than video games
Graphics don't matter. Once we got past PS2 era, it stopped mattering. That was the era when graphics were finally adequate to convey things in a game without having to rely on walls of text.
Once we were able to do that, everything more advanced became optional.
graphics do matter TO A POINT. I hear that CDDA is better than Project Zomboid. Has more features and shit. But the graphics are SO ASS even with a texture pack or whatever it's still basically unplayable unless you have some sort of advanced autism. I will always play Zomboid over CDDA just because the graphics suck for CDDA.
Graphics also goes hand in hand with art direction. Good art direction usually results in good graphics.

Its bad how graphics is used interchangeable for either. The common term should be visuals.
For example comic style can hide low res textures and get away with a lot of missing tech features. If you want to do realism you however have to rely on big textures and expensive special effects. Your style choice basically sets the requirement for graphic quality and the visual reception is how well tech can implement the chosen style.
