i played afk arena for like, 3 days (playing being a generous word), reached a level where i realized people were playing 3 lv1 guys and 2 lv infinite ultra maxed people to game the pvp power level and dropped the game since that is too much p2w shit for me
installed arknights the other day again, but really dont like the gameplay, weirdly enough managing the base seems more fun
the base building part of arknights becomes important in the late-game since it's the only efficient way to get the exp and currency needed to level up the units.
I don't care about the dudes and the furries in the game so why bother.

You're definitely not wrong there. Some of the more recent events have quite literally had word counts half as long as Stephen King's IT. Shit's ridiculous and I don't blame anyone for skipping dialogue.
I like this game but man frick theres too much dialogue.

got Mudrock, Surtr and W, all on release, the game became too easy there was no point on maxing most of the units much less the f2p ones.
i was just playing for the medals but got boring at some point.

Started the game this year. What are some must-raise 4* Operators? Jaye hardcarried me through Chapter 5, got him to E2 this month.
Myrtle is legitimately better than a lot of 5 stars, and arguably more useful than 6 star vanguards. No other 4 stars really matter much.
M9 Saileach makes myrtle utterly pointless, its a night and day difference.
Ridiculous investment for something totally unnecessary. A vanguard's job above all is to generate DP quickly so you can get your real units in. Being worse at that and having a higher deployment cost defeats the entire purpose.
Cuora's an excellent starter defender. She's definitely a top pick early on, though it might be better to not E2 her due to the raised deployment cost. Definitely gets outclassed by some higher rarity defenders later, too.
Anything past that is mostly personal preference, although Perfumer's global healing passive is nice to have.
A defender isn't supposed to be doing anything but blocking. Block 4 makes her superior to 95% of Defenders.

and raise Cuora. Hold back a bazillion enemies. Raise Cutter and deal enough damage to tear anything unarmored to pieces and shred drones. Raise Ambriel to pick off weaker enemies and leave the toughest guys for your DPS units. Raise Vigna as well for a big dick ATK charger.
Myrtle is a great DP printer but thats if you dont have the higher star flags. she starts faster and is cheap but the others are better. Cuora is the tankiest defender in the game so I definitely recommend her. She doesn't do damage but if you need someone to tank hits she's good for it. Vigna is a great charging vanguard and Meteor or May are good sniper picks. One for defense down and the other for slows when her damage falls off
Writing is horrible and the weird sci-fi/magic setting didn't click for me

unlike genshin or fgo, AK isn't that scummy with its gacha. decent rates with pity shared across banners.

Most say it because its their first gacha. Normies don't know nor want to know the truth about the publisher's massive greed. Sure gacha is bad, but some Asian nation's laws will prevent another Monkeygate while it will persist and worsen in the West.
Not that guy but from my experience playing gacha, arknights really is the least israeli of the bunch.
It's only after you play something like FGO that you realise how terrible gacha can be. I'd say the best of the bunch are AK and Girls frontline but obviously AK at the top.
Because it's hard to get myself to launch the game when I'd just be grinding so that I can progress but I don't particularly want to guidegay.

No native PC version. I'm not going to support their game unless they make a proper PC port. Emulator doesn't count.
The google play PC beta has arknights on the list does that count?
That's just a lightweight emulator. Still not native. If they're not going to spend effort on a proper port then they don't deserve my time or money.

I still wanted to like it, but sadly the game overall aethestic had shifted from somewhat grounded Rainbow 6 Siege tacticool scifi to a mish mash of everything. Also alt version of no one I cares about.
I already am playing arknights though.
Have yet to complete an event and I just beat 3-4.
I want to E2 pramanix but it takes so much shit to even get her to E1-70 nevermind actually promote her
I also want to focus on generally levelling all my other operators but I don't feel like I'm at the "optimal" point for doing that.
No idea what it is I need to do for that last tag slot to show up in the recruitment section but I assume it has something to do with having a level 3 office?

Getting an e2 early lets you borrow strong units so that helps but its good to get a lot of operators to like e1 30 or something.
You'll have to worry about rising units in chapter 4, since you can away with cheesing chapter 3. Though I don't know about your resources, I recommend rising a 4 star to e2 instead of the five star. (even then, Amiya should be your top checklist for e2).
