Johto is the only other region that makes sense. What Unovatards forget is that Unova's relevant history is before pokeballs would even exist.

Simple, back then everyone was a hulking chad like Drayden that wrestled Pokemon into submission and thus gaining their respect, even the 15 year olds.

      >Johto is the only other region that makes sense
How Johto is the ONLY region that makes sense?
What about Kalos with its rich history, unfunished buisness and its mythical that can create and go through portals?
What about Hoenn and its story from the past that got even deeper with its remake?
What about Unova and its story? And yes the original dragon is the key here, there's no way around it.

        >hoenn
alright buddy you can stop grasping at straws aint nothing in hoenn's past is worth a damn. it'd look exactly the same because hoenn is already a third world shithole still stuck in the past.
It's unique and sexy for that but nothing would look different

I don't disagree a proper 3D experience of Hoenn would be awesome.
but PLA wasn't just cool because it was open world. It was also about the region in the past. Why waste a legends game on it?

            Sinnoh is a modernized region.
There are giant cities and buildings everywhere, big bridges, solar panel walkways, an entire underground tunnel system that has pipes going to the surface, etc. So to see the land stripped bare and ruled by the elements in Hisui.

            Hoenn?
The routes are already pretty barren of any modern tech and ruled by nature. Sure you have the occasional weather institute or space shuttle but for the most part plenty of people still live simple lives in wooden houses with straw tops next to tropical forests.

I think any other region (besides Alola, which has the same "problem") would have a very clear distinct aesthetic theme they could use.

nta and I think any region could work theoretically work, but Johto is the best choice because the traditional Japanese vibe of the region fits with the concept of Legends, Celebi having time travel powers means it has the perfect set up, and Johto has many the shrines and traditions there that can be expanded upon and further explained: Sprout Tower sages, Dragons Den, Ruins of Alph and Unown, Ilex Forest shine, and the Burnt Tower incident.
Johto's traditions are one the the major things that lets it stand out from KANTOOOOO, the amount of seething from morons like >55274816 at Johto getting the spotlight is too good an oppurnity to pass up.

Sadly they will not do a Johto Legends since Legends Arceus came out only 2 years ago now, they wouldn't have had enough time to make a sequel. They would've also had to have anticipated just how universally well received the game would be, which Game Freak is notoriously bad at doing. They never know what fans want. So looks like we'll be missing it sadly.

Kalos would maybe work but it's lore is kind of underbaked an mostly revolves around the war, which Game Freak wouldn't really want to touch. Hoenn would work

I think Hoenn would be much better for a Legends game. More myths and legends and could really contextualize the weather trio as well as the Regis.

have it take place in the poke-90s and go hard on that 90s nostalgia for legends mewtwo.

A legends Kanto can be about the discovery of Mew and the creation of Mewtwo. Not every "legends" game has to take place in the 1800s. Also legends like games could take place and modern or future times. Maybe about the creation of Mewthree or Rainbow Rocket if they go down that route. I feel like the fanbase should prepare themselves for Gamefreak doing things other than just revisiting a region by going to the past

I just want Johto because I think an actual time travel mechanic with Celebi could be good hopping back and forth between past and future Johto. Unlike Arceus which just used it as setup or SV which you never actually travel. Plus Celebi is one of my favorite Pokemon which is the real main reason I want it

  5. 4 months ago

    >Kanto
Before the war. You help discover Mew and get a sample of it's DNA to Not-Team Rocket. Set in Poke 1930s.

    >Johto
Best choice for a direct sequel. Celebi being all about Time Travel allows them to send the protag back home, or to other time frames.

    >Hoenn
All the important shit happened in pre history. Perhaps a game set in the far future would work

    >Unova
The whole thing with the dragon. Poke Civil War

    >Kalos
Set it right after the aftermath of the weapon going off.

    >Alola
Another one that would be better off with a game based in the far future.

    >Galar
    Kaiju wars in medieval times.

    >Paldea
Use the time machine to send us to pre history or the far future.

cause Hoenn COULD work in the far future to keep that clear time divide...but then is it really a "legends" game? is it still hoenn?

They're never doing a future game. I can tell you all watch moronic Poketubers who don't understand how game development works. The reason Legends Arceus was set in the past is because it gives them the perfect excuse as to why the routes are empty, why there's no trainers, why there's no cities or towns except for base camp etc... this all saves time for game development. They are not doing a future game since it would be too much work for them. The only case in which a future game would work is if:
        >1. You discover a new part of an existing region that is uninhabited or untouched
        >2. A post apocalyptic setting where most things have been destroyed. This is too dark for them to tackle unless it's in an alternate universe. I could see this working with Unova, say if Team Neo Plasma were properly successful with freezing the whole region

It's not just the original dragon, the lore of Unova in general is worth getting into. The mix of cultures, the royal family/N's ancestry, Drayden's family history, the stuff about Meloetta, Unova's relationship with Kalos before or after the war and more notably what kind of land Unova could've been before modernization.

PLA worked because Sinnoh was crawling with Legendaries, the lore of Arceus basically being the pinnacle Pokémon worked to its favor. Sinnoh during settlement and pre-modernization was at least interesting to work with. Not to mention ancestors of recognizable characters weren't just limited to Sinnoh games, so it'd be interesting to see if
characters from other regions like Johto or Kalos had immigrants from Unova.

Sinnoh and Unova both had lore worth getting into.

Everything about Johto was either addressed in the anime, save for the GS Ball. I don't imagine a Legends type game would be worth it for much else.

Alola where youre a member of an expedition going to each island on boat. No big village, just small outposts where Hau’oli City, Konikoni City, & Po Town eventually are, no outpost on Poni because of the terrain. Most of the interesting “home base” content would be on the ship but maybe you can upgrade them to have a few interesting buildings.

You go around catching Alola Pokemon pissing off the local tribes who tell you youre tempting fate and eventually Necrozma (when they talk about these events in USUM he’s either Dawn Wings or Dusk Mane depending on the game, i dunno how theyd fix that but maybe you get a choice of either saving Lunala or Solgaleo from Necrozma.) He steals the regions light and you have to seek out the 4 Tapus, who don’t like you because you and your crew have been catching Pokemon and cutting trees to build outposts, and prove yourself to them in the first “Island Trials.” You then fight Ultra Necrozma at the end in a raid-style battle with all 4 Tapus.

Johto has a lot to work with. Ecruteak, Blackthorn city and the dragon clan, the start of Goldenrod city, the towers, ruins of Alph and the unknown, we could meet the pokemon that turn into the legendary beasts, Ho oh and Lugia, Celebi, Ilex forest, the slowpoke town, and probably more I'm not thinking about. They could do something with the moo moo farm (new variety of miltank), Lake of Rage, and have a story line with an ancient lighthouse, too.
