Making a shitty fan game, so I was thinking about this the other night when I was reminded Light Metal on Metagross actually does nothing and most Psychics are actually bad.
Eventually decided giving them both their mega's ability would be the best course of action and giving psychics a passive that does the same thing telepathy.
Yeah, I noticed basically all the viable psychics are dual types and actually hindered by their psychic typing.
this, just turn it into walmart mega gardevoir
Changing its HA to Pixilate would be the funniest thing, because it would implicitly confirm that megas would never come back. >"You want Mega Garde for Pixilate shenanigans? Here, now you can do those shenanigans. Now shut up about the mega."
It might actually be better than megavoir due to having an item slot and Gardevoir still has a a very high Sp.Atk stat even with the power creep. Back when I played VGC in gen 6, I ran a bold mega voir because 165 is absurdly high and will wreak most shit with low investment. Towards the end most other people started doing the same and not running much investment because it was overkill.
You'd think that Poison being more common as a Fairy counter would have helped Psychic a bit, but since Poison is also weak to fricking Ground anyway, it seems like Poison is mostly used as coverage moves.
In general, it's silly that most Psychics are glass cannons but have few type advantages and tend to get shitty coverage options. And of course almost all Fighting types have access to Sucker Punch and/or Knock Off.

Psychic is still overshadowed by being so strong in Gen 1 so it keeps getting nerfed

Megas will inevitably be back. They're in every other facet of the franchise and they sell merch of them all the time. Literally only the mainline games have a stick up their ass about them because muh surprises
>Magic Guard
Alakazam at home kinda vibe but at least it has Fairy STAB >Friend Guard
Would it be better than Eviolite Clefairy in doubles? I have no clue but I wanna say yes. Also fits with the whole, "opens a black hole to save its master" thing from the dex >Pixilate
I guess it works, but just copypasting the Mega's ability is a bit lame >Rattled
Doesn't really fit, but getting that speed boost from a knock off or u-turn could be huge. >Competitive
Gothitelle but better lol. Doesn't fit amazingly though, lore-wise.
Telepathy is a fricking abysmal ability in Doubles because it means you're wasting a moveslot on an attack when Gardevoir isn't on the field, and Gardevoir will have a wasted ability slot since it's using it only for not taking damage from your attack.
nah, telepathy is a useless ability in doubles too. its only use is on teams where you spam spread moves, but teams like that have better options. running discharge? you're better off with a volt absorb or lightning rod mon, they actively benefit rather than just being immune. hell, just running a damn ground type is better.
Like others have said, they're physically frail and tend not to have a lot of decent coverage, and their only advantages are against types that tend to get a lot of Dark coverage. Psychic isn't outright terrible like pure Grass or Bug, but the only time I ever think about having a Psychic type on my team is as a possible coverage move on a Fairy type. There just isn't much of an advantage to using one.
everything is stacked against it.
it hits just two types for SE while it's resisted by two and immuned by one, and that one just so happens to be one of the best types in the game.
it has three weaknesses but only two resists, one being itself which isn't really valuable when it's already a struggling type.
and there aren't any super-strong psychic moves to make up for it, either. psychic has no equivalent of draco meteor/fire blast/etc. so psychic types just don't hit as hard as their high spatk would suggest.
You'd think that Psychic equivalents to Skull Bash and Overheat would be a no-brainer, but it's like GF forgot that the type existed. I swear Lumina Crash is the first Psychic Move they've added since Gen V.
Gamefreak has been traumatized by Gen 1 Psychic and has gone out of their way to make sure that never happens again.

Slow start

magic bounce
magic bounce is the easy option but that's also hatterene's thing, at which point Garde is just a worse Hatterene

psychic was extremely cucked as a type after being OP in Gen 1. They've nerfed it to the point of being a liability now.

reuniclus would be extremely broken if it was a good type and not psychic, though.
it's absolutely hindered.

honestly a good idea. It's at least something.

no, it lacks redirection.

why are you moronic

imagine playing a game mode that never once appears in game
telepathy scarf gardevoir won worlds btw
weird how normal was the actual OP type and only recently has it started to get shit (and it still has that ever so useful ghost resist)
Dancer

ah the "wasted slot' ability
I just want Gardevoir to be good

Isn't it funny how the types introduced after Gen 1 tend to be the best types in the game (besides Water)
