Slight upgrade just because old Eri was absolutely hideous. Just looks like an npc now.

Looks fake to me. Eri had white eyes before. It feels like GF is trying to create a sense of surprise by completely changing Eri's appearance.
At least Mela's appearance is pretty consistent, the only difference is that she no longer has makeup and her hairstyle has changed.
Massive downgrade, should've let her keep the eye makeup and some hair styling.

I knew the official art made her too fricking lanky even with the boots on. Her 3d model when she's a Team Star boss clearly shows she's much shorter than what the official art depicted.

>get bullied for being different >go bad and extravagent >get crusehd and punished >become a blank npc with no individuality left that praise all the people that bear your ass off
wait.... the bullies actually won, wtf is that message.
Japan has a strict belief that school delinquency can only be atoned for by becoming a completely normal model student, and the fact that Team Star never truly turned over in full in the basegame likely didn't set well with parents.
Your brain is going full moron because it's trying to make sense of a full moron post.
Team Star here are decked out in school uniforms because they're trying to raise their grades, and Ortega, Mela, and Atticus are floundering. Giacomo and Eri enlist the player as a tutor, because they don't want to burden Penny with even more trouble and Giacomo and Eri are bad at tutoring.
As it turns out, Ortega's having trouble in literature class because of characters in stories speaking in double meanings, which confuses him. He finally gets it when Giacomo mentions that he does the same shit, he says one thing but means another.
Atticus sucks at math, and sees no reason to improve at all. He's an artist, what need does he have to learn this shit? Eri reminds him that they paid a stupid amount of money for all their Team Star gear, and a lot of material was wasted when they finalized their outfits. Atticus then resolves to get better at math to save money and succeed as a tailor.
Mela's grades are failing because she's extremely distracted that she doesn't have a life goal while everyone else seemingly does. At the player's suggestion she decides to try pursuing a career as an artist, because that crazy frickwit of a professor named Hassel essentially goofs off through his lessons, but still works as an artist, has fun, and gets paid money for it. So if he could do it then she could too.
Then Penny walks in, mad that she thought they didn't want to talk to her anymore, and then mad that they didn't want to lean on her for help when they were in trouble, since they're friends. She's actually a great tutor, and takes over for the player in teaching the others. Eri thanks you with a gold bottle cap and the team star grunt outfit.
omfg that is actually really fricking adorable. do I need the indigo disk to do all this? or to just beat the team star members in the rematch? I love this gaggle and want more screen time for them.
..also, do you think we could get photos of Non-Star Ortega and Atticus please? they're the only ones not in this thread.

It's the opposite, Mela chooses to pursue the same career as Hassel because she respects how much fun he gets to have as one. If you get paid to clown around and goof off then you've made it, haven't you?
they were bullied for being different and excentric. in the end they got "better" by losing all sense of difference and excentricity. The bullies were right.

The message was "stop being original and doing your own thing, return to your rightful place as a cog in the machine my little wagie"
sasuga Japan
Why do you think the player character doesn't get to leave their uniform behind?
I mean look at the history of gamefreak being bullied by its toxic fanbase, of course bullies always win.
Japan has a strict belief that school delinquency can only be atoned for by becoming a completely normal model student, and the fact that Team Star never truly turned over in full in the basegame likely didn't set well with parents.

sasuga Japan
Why do you think the player character doesn't get to leave their uniform behind?
It’s not that deep, they were acting out, but now they’re not. It’s a based message for anyone who isn’t still going through a moron phase trying to be “different” for the sake of being different. Grow up
The same bullies that were driven out of school pissing themselves in fear and didn't come back?
The Team Star Kids are less "extra" now because they are back in school and not delinquents anymore. And that comes with a dress code.
The idea that they somehow "lost to the bullies" because of their more standard look is silly.
>The Team Star Kids are less "extra"
They're less everything, not one of them in this quest expresses any kind of personality other than generic good student.
>It’s a based message
"based" quite literally means "doing what you want without caring how other people think of you"
did you forget about that somehow
This is the way of thinking of real Japanese, what you see in animes and movies are pure escapism that they are not allowed to express in public, in college I met a Japanese guy who was happy to be able to use a public gym and show off his muscles. Since in Japan it is not well regarded, he explained to me that it is because people think "If you have free time to exercise, you should spend it doing something better like working or studying" it is considered selfishness and that applies to almost everything in general, they do not seek to stand out, but rather communal harmony.
I also heard that a biracial girl was forced to dye her hair from natural blonde to black so she wouldn't stand out at her school.
It's a shame that irl bullied fricks don't learn to get with the program; instead they double down and become trannies and fricked up western society pushes and enables their bad decisions.
This, you can tell which anons in here still haven’t learned the lesson team Star did and are still deluded enough to think that trying to be weird and different will lead them to a happily ever after. The reality is that humans are social beings and a degree of conformity is necessary for stability and social cohesion. Until you’re able to realize that, you’ll never stop being an outcast.
>People are more than they appearance,
lol no they aren't, it's the same "I'd totally kill the joker" teenage logic they bark when peolpe note how ugly they are both inside and outside. nobody intelligent sports a side cut or a brocolli head
The way you dress and style yourself is a form of self-expression. Being rendered incapable of self-expression like the Team Star people have been is, at the very least, suppressing their personality if not removing it.

Nobody said 'they have the same design philosophy as the first couple of gens.' What was said was 'wacky elemental or otherwise themed trainers.' 'Wacky' is a very broad word, and it should've been obvious from context that it means the trainers dressed differently or distinctly from the people around them rather than having to fit in.
Also, fun fact: scarlet red hair isn't a natural tone, Lorelei and Lance were already using unnatural hair colors in Gen 1.

Because he's the fifth gym leader. Anon, saying 'look this guy has natural hair color' doesn't erase that gym leaders with unnatural hair colors existed in Gen 2. In fact, fully half of them have unnatural hair colors.

I see you're just going to keep ignoring half my argument about the hair and any other arguments in general then? The only paldean gym leader with completely natural single coloured hair is this monstrosity. What do you get from denying the obvious fact that human designs are way more complex than they were in gen 1?
Anonymous
Because you are trying to change the argument. The point is, and always has been, that trainers had wacky themed outfits. This has been proven true since RGB, the original game. Then you tried to change the subject to be about unnatural colors, which has been shown to be true since RGB as well (and, when you insisted on only talking about gym leaders, got shown that gym leaders have had those since GS.) Now you are trying to twist the argument into being about how modern designs are WACKIER, which has absolutely nothing to do with the original point I made and that you contest, and I'm tired of chasing the goalpost as you keep moving it.

NTA but when is childhood non-conformance ever praised or rewarded in previous games? The only time it really comes up is in Gen 7 with Lillie, whose actions are justified because Lusamine is an abusive parent, and Team Skull, who are portrayed as misguided youths and, while not completely villainous, aren't cast in a good light for rebelling the way they choose to rebel. The same applies to Team Star. Their initial justification for rebelling is solid, but they take it too far for too long and just end up turning into a bunch of causeless rebels accomplishing nothing but squandering their chances of receiving a proper education.

It's not about it being directly praised so much as it not being directly attacked. Of course Iris doesn't need to wear a school uniform, she's not a student. You're mischaracterizing a school's dress code pretty heavily here, it's really not that big of a deal. They aren't being forced to attend the school, but if they want to make use of the facilities and resources on hand then they need to abide by the rules. I dunno, they all just seem to be wearing clothes that match their jobs. You could argue the trend of gym leaders and E4 members having careers with Pokemon training and battling being more of a sidegig leads to more restrictive character design but I don't really see how that ties into the issue of conformity. I like how you actively ignore the actual argument being made in the post, that shows off brilliantly how you are dishonest. The point is that they dress like this while NOT working too.

But that's not an issue with the characters or their designs, that's an issue with the developers not giving enough of a shit about keeping the player immersed to give the characters with uniforms casual clothes for when they're not working. Has absolutely nothing to do with conformity, either.

Anonymous
Anon, you do realize these worlds are not REAL, right? Everything wrong with them is an issue with the developers. Putting everyone in work clothes 24/7 is a developer decision, how it reflects on their character is a developer decision, and what it says about the world is a develop decision. We cannot sit here and speculate 'maybe they own and wear casual clothes sometimes' because these non-real people are never stated or shown to do so. What we are shown is them having work clothes on at all times, even when pokemon battling, so we have to assume that's what they do. If the developers disagree with that, they should've shown us otherwise. Anything else is just speculation.
Anonymous
Yeah, it's speculation, but it's also just a safe assumption that anyone who lives in a functioning society that isn't an autocratic hellscape has casual clothing for when they're not working. There's nothing wrong with making claims based on speculation when they're logical. You never see anyone use the bathroom in these games either, are you gonna claim no one in Paldea needs to shit because saying otherwise would be speculation?

That's assuming pokemon is like the real world when it patently isn't. Even if it was, everyone in this game could be exceedingly autistic and has made work their entire personality and life. There are many people like that in real life too. We have no reason to assume the people in this game aren't all in that same sphere of soullessness. Trying to treat baseless speculation as canon like you are, on the other hand, is just opening yourself up for unwinnable arguments. You have no evidence, but I do, the game itself is evidence for these people wearing work clothing 24/7 like the idealized Japanese bugman.

The irony here is that the dress code at the Academy in SV is pretty light by real world standards, students having a different uniform for each season is way more than most real students get. And the faculty's dress code seems pretty lax based on the different outfits most of the teachers wear. You clearly never attended a school that enforced a dress code or required uniforms if you think this is bad.
Anonymous
I did attend a highschool that mandated uniforms. It sucked, and the school in SV also sucks for mandating uniforms.

Anonymous
>Where does the game say that?
Just look at any of the characters that aren't associated with the Academy and explain what dress code they're being forced to conform to. Is Iono being punished for expressing herself and dressing this way, both on stream and in public?

Anonymous
>Just look at any of the characters that aren't associated with the Academy
Okay, I see:
>Aside from characters actually involved in the conformity plot who mentions conformity?
Anon, don't be stupid. Also all the other characters in this game aside from Iono wear extremely normal clothing, they're all very muted and normal which drives home how standing out is bad.

What's wrong with this character design, exactly? She's a baker. What would you like her to dress up as, a baguette?

Anonymous
>She's a baker.
She's a pâtissière not a baker, world of differences.
>self expression
Black person what the frick are you going on about lmao
They were a bunch of autistic losers who started dressing up to pretend they were special, and now they've been dealt with they went back to being regular losers.
What fricking personality?
They were non-characters, they were just there to pad out the game and because GF feels the need to have some "evil team" even when they have no idea what to do.
You could remove these homosexuals from the game and nothing would change.
No idea why they even show up after the DLC like anyone cares about them.

Anon, they had big, obvious, bombastic personalities. This isn't about whether they were GOOD characters or whether this is a GOOD game, in fact, they're both bad, but that's aside the point. In fact, anon, us complaining about this story development is driving home how the game is bad, so I'm not sure why you are taking issue with this.

>Giacomo: DJ >Atticus: Chuuni ninja >Ortega: Tsundere richboy twink >Mela: Punk >Eri: Heel
Wasn't that hard.
I think a lot of people are missing the point that their Team Star outfits are deliberately played up for their ‘performance’ of rebellion, it’s not something they’d wear 24/7 (besides Ortega and Giacomo maybe).
Mela’s punk get up is meant to be distracting and loud, and hinders her movement. It wouldn’t work in a school and whilst her makeup being gone is sad it’s also… just school. She doesn’t need to prove herself.
Atticus probably still wears his out of school when he’s LARPing, but it covers his face and identity which isn’t good in a school setting when he should be mingling and learning there’s more to himself than living in a fantasy.
Eri’s is clearly just her performance wrestling gear and she likely again wears it when it’s appropriate.
>it’s also… just school
Literally her entire life is school. Japanese kids wear their school uniforms more or less 24/7 for 12 years of their lives, there's no real 'after school you can dress how you like!' going on there, and the school in this game is absolutely inspired by Japanese styled schools rather than anything in actual Spain.
Reminder that they made their costumes as part of a defense mechanism for being bullied. If there's no threat, then the mechanism doesn't need to be active anymore. They still wear their costumes at the bases as part of their roles as Star Trial Captains.
>T-THE GAME IS SAYING SELF EXPRESSION IS BAD
Yes it is lmao
Stop pretending you can "say" anything through your looks beyond the amount of parental issues you have.
They always have those, since managing their bases is their official role as battle instructors. Students are now officially encouraged to take on the bases to improve their skills. The player should really get a costume of their own, since they're officially the new big boss of Team Star.
>Pop by the Asado Desert to go look for Moltres >Can't find him >Stop by Porto Marinada to see what's available >Atticus is there, hawking replica gear he made of famous trainers >First one is a replica of the "Dragon Gloves", which I don't recognize >Old Man in the auction pushes the damn gloves up to 375,000 Poke before he finally backs down >Next item is a replica of the Expansion Suit helmet
Well damn. I wonder if the other Team Star members are around somewhere.
oh my god she is going to make strong children
CUTE
Wtf? From the thumbnail i thought she was showing her pantsu
when they said she was bullied for being too pretty they meant it
Holy shit they’re actually cute as frick
WHOA
SEXOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
I'm sorry, nemona...
you've been surpassed.................
She's fricking cute, wtf
If this was the b***h with the ugly face paint, this is a MASSIVE improvement
yup, it's her
Should've kept the hair the same. She looks so bland and generic now
She should take up sports. She has the build for it
I don't get it. She's ugly.
wow she’s so pretty
It's Creati!
Jesus christ shes beautiful
I hate it. Give them back their makeup, I take back what I said about about it
Watch out guys, we got a badass over here.
>character with troony mask detransitions in the DLC and looks attractive
Holy fricking based.
>"detransitions" into a less drag queen looking troon
Uh-huh. Sure.
mentally ill
Slight upgrade just because old Eri was absolutely hideous. Just looks like an npc now.
Massive downgrade, should've let her keep the eye makeup and some hair styling.
Jesus Christ how horrifying.
She just looks like your average latina now. Not a bad thing honestly. Better than most ugly designs this generation unironically.
WOULD watch her crack crabs open with her bare hands for hours
I'm impressed. She actually looks normal now. She actually looks like a girl and not a troon.
Whoever fixed her deserves a raise.
>and not a troon
rent free brainbuck.
She looked like a girl from the start
>She looked like a girl from the start
Kek. Sure she did, troony. Sure she did.
Don't fall for obvious bait baka
didn't think her hair was dyed
>hair isn't white
>no bow
ruined, but she'd be perfect if she had them. giacomo also looks like a fricking nerd, fujos lost
>giacomo also looks like a fricking nerd
He was always supposed to be one though, he was the student council president who was too strict with rules and regulations.
At least Giacomo kept his hairstyle
big shiny 5head
I swear Giancomo reminds me of every hispanic friend I've had that ditched school. The hair, the lazy eyes, the bulky clothes
For me the friend was Bulgarian but yea same. Literally exact same thing going on.
*kisses forehead*
AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAAHHAAHHAHAAHAHAHHAAHHAHAHAHAHA NONONONONONONONONONONO AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHHAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA AND STILL SHE'S MORE FEMALE THAN RIKA AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAAHAHAHAHAHAHAAH...Okay tbh she looks like the typical spanish girl image in my heae
>normified
>no new rematches in blueberry disk
Mela was already posted here
SEXXXXXXXXXXXXXOOOOOOO
>actually kind of short
I knew the official art made her too fricking lanky even with the boots on. Her 3d model when she's a Team Star boss clearly shows she's much shorter than what the official art depicted.
Why does she have a midge torso and arms, but normal legs?
Meeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeh
They should have let her keep the lipstick. That's really my only complaint.
That and the eyeliner are for when she breaks your bed and your hips
both are cute
Okay she is cute but absolutely not the type that too cute that gets bully
They all look bad now ngl
Chucky from Child's Play.
I WILL corrupt her again.
All I can see is picrel
Anon why do have so many AO3 tabs?
there's also a poipiku tag, probably a shipping fujo
she looks more like an apple now, makes her name more obvious
She's normal
GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOD DAMN
Wait, in a world with impossible hair colors hers was actually FAKE? That is super bullshit.
so was melas, hers seems to be blonde naturally and dyed red
What? Anon look here
Even with a normie haircut, her haircolor is still red with yellow in the top.
anon, do you know how hair grows?
the border of the 2 colors is even splotchier than it was before, and no longer has a the appearance of a consistent pattern, because her blond roots are growing out
does her girlfriend show up at all?
She turned to God and finally stopped being a lesbian groomer.
Do we have Ortega or Atticus?
Apparently not.
So they bullied her because she was too pretty, because everyone else was completely ugly, right? She looks kind of plain.
Plain is good.
They finally did her right.
her wrestling gear was great, get the frick out
They keep normiefying our girls! STOP IT!
why arent they allowed to wear their cool costumes anymore
They choose not to in order to fit in better because they're afraid other students will keep thinking they're bullies.
They grew up
I just unlocked the tutor shit, so everyone has dialogue with everyone or is just a select group of people?
RAPE RAPE RAPE RAPE RAPE RAPE RAPE RAPE RAPE RAPE RAPE
>the shirt curtain straining against her huge breasts
god damn
They look like real people now. Good
>They look like real people now.
Nah, Giacomo still looks like Stu from Rugrats.
videogames aren't real life nor meant to be realistic, kys
There is nothing wrong with acting like a normal human being. They just are not clowns anymore.
How the frick are people initiating this shit? I want to see just how DOMESTICATED the academy made Team Star for myself.
Mommy
I get the hair. BUT THIS GIRL WAS WRESTLING WITH CONTACTS IN?!
Did you really think she had white eyes?
Yes?! Hassel has bright red eyes as his natural colour, and Iono has frickin tiger teeth; so I wasn't really that questioning about white eyes.
>him
anon was lazy.
..also. where's atticus and the posho one?
She looks super hawt
Meela is still best girl though
Is that the unicorn looking b***h?
big girl
Giacomo is Inspector Gadget.
Meanwhile Pennie can still look like a manga freak because her other side is a famous electric Vtuber champion.
>Mela gets to stay with her red and yellow
>But no, Eri definitely dyes her hair
Why
mela's hair is naturally like that .w.
And what about Penny? Surely her hair isn't natural
Penny is biracial
Half blue half red
>Half blue half red
this almost sound like penny is a fujo bait
her hair is fricked up because eveelution pee is highly chemically damaging
Penny is a Brit. She’s never natural.
drag queen wig, you can tell just by looking at her
Looks fake to me. Eri had white eyes before. It feels like GF is trying to create a sense of surprise by completely changing Eri's appearance.
At least Mela's appearance is pretty consistent, the only difference is that she no longer has makeup and her hairstyle has changed.
I like that no matter how Mela's hair is styled, it still looks like a flower.
This is the world of Pokémon, so it is expected you have strange looking hair.
that's the point of her character though
>bullied for being "too beautiful"
>it's the definition of a 6/10
>get bullied for being different
>go bad and extravagent
>get crusehd and punished
>become a blank npc with no individuality left that praise all the people that bear your ass off
wait.... the bullies actually won, wtf is that message.
The message is that he lost and was funny
I mean look at the history of gamefreak being bullied by its toxic fanbase, of course bullies always win.
Japan has a strict belief that school delinquency can only be atoned for by becoming a completely normal model student, and the fact that Team Star never truly turned over in full in the basegame likely didn't set well with parents.
How tf did they win? Or is this just my brain going full moron.
Wow, that's lame.
duality of man
omfg that is actually really fricking adorable. do I need the indigo disk to do all this? or to just beat the team star members in the rematch? I love this gaggle and want more screen time for them.
..also, do you think we could get photos of Non-Star Ortega and Atticus please? they're the only ones not in this thread.
So yeah, the bullies were right, they were freaks and can only progress by being normies. Good lesso for a slave like you. obey
>So if he could do it then she could too.
Hasselbros, we get no respect.
The bullies were right.
they're still the same people, they just try to not look like alt kids LMAO.
>they are the same but now htey don't often the bullies sight
literal bully logic there.
At least the school schooting in the next dlc will make sense.
>they don't often the bullies sight
..bro. are you an ESL? cause what the frick is that?
also, I really doubt they'd be bullied again. 90% sure they're like the kids nobody fricks with now because of the gigantic starmobiles.
>I can't argue back, surely this missing letter will BTFO any disobeying people
so, quite a bully yourself I see.
I can only guess you meant to say "they don't offend the bullies sight"? As in they are less of an eyesore now?
That's an unusual way of saying it if so.
>That's an unusual way of saying it if so.
not really, they weren't ugl per say ,it's only in the bullie's eyes. They made them comform tho that and not to real normality.
I am genuinely just so fricking dumbfounded, man. but after seeing
, I have a better argument.
sure, the bullies won in that accord, but there's a dresscode, y'know. I'm a bit confused on why eri's hair isn't white still, but it probably was just a wig.
>they are the same but now htey don't often the bullies sight
Stop looking like schizos and freaks, that's the message
They lost, that's all you need to know.
The message was "stop being original and doing your own thing, return to your rightful place as a cog in the machine my little wagie"
sasuga Japan
Why do you think the player character doesn't get to leave their uniform behind?
It’s not that deep, they were acting out, but now they’re not. It’s a based message for anyone who isn’t still going through a moron phase trying to be “different” for the sake of being different. Grow up
>they were acting out, but now they’re not.
yeah because the bullies that told them to stop being themselves won.
Which is why it's awful when escapism like pokemon tries to lean into this real world shit.
Team Star losing their outfits was a mistake
>Before DLC
Mela >>>>>> Eri
>After DLC
Eri >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Mele
I want to bully her with my wiener
She’s normal now.
She's cute
>this still won't make the nsfw artist more interested in her
>no artist will draw protag and eri handholding and going on a date
those cowards... they truly deceived me
It's a shame that irl bullied fricks don't learn to get with the program; instead they double down and become trannies and fricked up western society pushes and enables their bad decisions.
Bullying isn't something to learn from; it happens for no reason. It's not the victim's fault that people around them are shallow c**ts
Cope
>Has her soul and personality deleted
>her soul and personality is her costume
She's worthless then
She now looks and acts like every single other student, anon. She has no personality.
If she's still among the strongest at battles, she still is distinct.
>Nuh uh she's distinct because she does pokemon battles in the pokemon battle academy
Are you stupid?
Yes. If she can body Xavier the student freely, she can be somebody like the player character or Nemona.
>she can be somebody like the player character
Someone who also has no personality or soul?
your appearance is literally you, yes.
That's woman/salty simp talk anon
People are more than they appearance, anyone worth their salt knows that
>People are more than they appearance,
lol no they aren't, it's the same "I'd totally kill the joker" teenage logic they bark when peolpe note how ugly they are both inside and outside. nobody intelligent sports a side cut or a brocolli head
The way you dress and style yourself is a form of self-expression. Being rendered incapable of self-expression like the Team Star people have been is, at the very least, suppressing their personality if not removing it.
>Franchise that, from the beginning, has been about wacky elemental or otherwise themed trainers, some of them 60+ years old
>Suddenly in SV having unique outfits and hair is BAD and you should dress and act just like everyone else
It's incredible how many cucks there are in this very thread who applaud disposing anything unique so you can fricking blend into the rest of the machine like a good soulless puppet.
>Franchise that, from the beginning, has been about wacky elemental or otherwise themed trainers
No, they looked normal in RGB
>No, they looked normal in RGB
That is normal for the 90s, yes.
The one real exception. Everyone else is pretty normal.
>That is normal for the 90s, yes.
Anon, nobody dressed like that in the 90's. I know you're like 12 years old so the 90's might as well be a hundred years ago for you, but believe me, nobody was running around in a cape.
They were in anime. What's supposed to be weird or heavily type themed about Sabrina, the shoulders?
What about Jasmine? Not exactly screaming rock/steel trainer is she.
>highly reflective fivehead
>flat as a sheet of metal
Anon she can only be a steel trainer
>They were in anime
Your argument is now 'it was normal in anime'? Anon, anime is wacky, the entire point of argument being made is that trainers in previous games were wacky but now the game is telling us wacky is bad and everyone should look and act like a normal Japanese schoolchild or salaryman.
>What about Jasmine
Not from RGB like what your original post
was about.
There is a colossal difference between "guy with a cape" and whatever the frick Mela is wearing. Hair is also very different, everybody is two toned fantasy colours now when in gen 1 every gym leader has a natural colour.
Even fricking Larry whose gimmick is looking normal has different coloured streaks. You can not honestly say they have the same design philosophy as the first couple of gens.
>What is greying hair
Nobody said 'they have the same design philosophy as the first couple of gens.' What was said was 'wacky elemental or otherwise themed trainers.' 'Wacky' is a very broad word, and it should've been obvious from context that it means the trainers dressed differently or distinctly from the people around them rather than having to fit in.
Also, fun fact: scarlet red hair isn't a natural tone, Lorelei and Lance were already using unnatural hair colors in Gen 1.
I said gym leaders, and Lorelei is dressed completely normally compared to this b***hes transparent skirt.
>I said gym leaders
Like the Elite Four are actually distinct from gym leaders in design philosophy, but whatever anon. Have the first gym leader in Gen 2, he has blue hair.
>B-but Penny is wackier and
Again, aside the point.
I wonder why you didn't post Chuck.
>>B-but Penny is wackier and
>Again, aside the point.
No anon that is literally the point, that they don't design humans like they used to. That is entirely the point.
>I wonder why you didn't post Chuck.
Because you are trying to change the argument. The point is, and always has been, that trainers had wacky themed outfits. This has been proven true since RGB, the original game. Then you tried to change the subject to be about unnatural colors, which has been shown to be true since RGB as well (and, when you insisted on only talking about gym leaders, got shown that gym leaders have had those since GS.) Now you are trying to twist the argument into being about how modern designs are WACKIER, which has absolutely nothing to do with the original point I made and that you contest, and I'm tired of chasing the goalpost as you keep moving it.
>short pink hair with low twintails
>baseball jersey with shorts
>thick thighs with cute socks
Peak Pokegirl design.
Lacey has nothing compared to the OG pink pokegirl.
Isn't Whitney a schoolgirl as well? Her being able to wear clothing she likes vs. a school uniform all the time is another difference here.
Maybe Lacey would look more cute if she wore something like Whitney's outfit but her current school uniform is absolutely hideous.
Klara is the better designed pink haired DLC girl but even then she still isn't cute as Whitney to be honest.
Yes. Whitney was shit
>He likes this girl more because she fricks dogs
>The point is, and always has been, that trainers had wacky themed outfits
Judging from that picture your idea of wacky seems to be "booty shorts". What is whacky about Brock, Misty, or Erika? Consider that in gen 9 we have this guy
styling his beard, eyebrows, and apron to look like waves because he has to advertise he's a water trainer at all times or this guy dyeing his hair green, styling it to look like thorns, and carrying a thorny vine around because you have to know he uses grass types at a moment's glance. Not to begin comparing Ryme with Agatha.
>Given the picture you posted
About unnatural hair colors in Gen 2?
There you go ignoring everything to attempt some lame gotcha again.
I'm just continuing on with the topic change you made prior, anon. Maybe you shouldn't have changed the subject in the first place if you didn't want to talk about this.
I never even complained about fantasy hair colour, it was that plus the constant two tones in gen 9. You’re the idiot who keeps trying to move the goalpost to make it exclusively about hair colour. Name 1 major kanto trainer that is visually type coded even remotely as hard as Mela, Kofu, or
Brassius. Protip: you can’t.
>when in gen 1 every gym leader has a natural colour.
>Hair is also very different, everybody is two toned fantasy colours now
I am terribly sorry about your selective blindness anon.
You made a false claim, anon, you have to deal with that.
That claim isn’t false moron. Lance and Lorelei are not gym leaders, and they’re still more normal looking than Penny.
>Like the Elite Four are actually distinct from gym leaders in design philosophy, but whatever anon. Have the first gym leader in Gen 2, he has blue hair.
That was your first attempt to move the goalposts and make this about hair colour, if it didn’t work the first time why would it work the second?
I’m still waiting for the type coded gen 1 trainer.
>You made it about hair color
I do hope your selective blindness gets better anon.
I hope you've learned your lesson about changing goalposts.
You were moving the goalposts to try and teach me? Thanks anon, I appreciate that.
I see you didn't, what a shame.
>I’m still waiting for the type coded gen 1 trainer.
Brock the Rock type trainer is named Brock.
Misty the Water type trainer is named Misty and wears a swimsuit.
Lt. Surge the Electric type trainer is named Surge.
Koga the Poison type trainer is a ninja (they used poison.)
Sabrina the Psychic type trainer is a psychic herself.
There's also Erika the Grass type trainer who engages in traditional Japanese sakebana (flower arranging) and aromatics while wearing traditional Japanese dress, but I grant you this one is a bigger stretch, especially if you're not a nip.
That just leaves Blaine the Fire type trainer and Giovanni the Ground type trainer without clear connections between their names, jobs, or hobbies and their type.
I did say VISUALLY when I first asked, sorry for not reiterating. Those are dub names anyway, and are you really gonna say Sabrina is just as type coded as Firehead McFireboots the fire trainer?
You're rights on they definitely went overboard on the hair this gen, making everyone look like a Twitch streamer. It's one thing I dislike about the games even though I like them more than Swash. Don't let that anon gaslight you
>Anon, nobody dressed like that in the 90's
90s anime but still.
>Your argument is now 'it was normal in anime'? Anon, anime is wacky, the entire point of argument being made is that trainers in previous games were wacky but now the game is telling us wacky is bad and everyone should look and act like a normal Japanese schoolchild or salaryman.
>replying to two different people
>That is normal for the 90s, yes.
Wow now that's some drooling moron nonsense, are you even old enough to post there, broccoli piece of shit?
>No, they looked normal in RGB
I hate how tertiaries who never were involved in the franchise are now spamming these revisionist nonsense based on instant feefee status and quick gis.
When you fight Brock he's shirtless and doing a mummy pose
>No, they looked normal
The lack of a "too" in Clair's statement makes it seem like she, much like Misty, doesn't believe there's anything wrong with going out with that outfit.
You forget that they are students in a school that enforces uniform.
And we're being told it's a good thing and they should always conform and never engage in self-expression because the way trainers in all previous games dressed is bad.
Which of those trainers were in a school that enforces uniforms?
>Ignoring what my post says to repeat himself
No I didn't.
They are part of a school, and that school forces them to wear a uniform.
>And we're being told it's a good thing and they should always conform and never engage in self-expression because the way trainers in all previous games dressed is bad.
And again, which of those trainers were rolled up in a uniform enforcing school?
Are you being obtuse on purpose?
>Are you being obtuse
Are you? The game is telling you straight out to always conform and never be wacky, which is a firm departure from how people dressed in previous games. Them being in a school is irrelevant. The game never draws some kind of distinction of "Conform in school but have fun at home or as an adult!" or whatever, like you're imagining it does, it is say, unilaterally, "The nail that sticks out gets hammered down."
No, the game is telling you that kids can't ignore school rules.
The game is telling you that self-expression is bad. I'm convinced you are autistic, anon, you can't actually integrate what anyone else is trying to tell you and keep repeating yourself.
Because you are moronic.
They were kids going full moron and becoming attention prostitutes and now they regained their sanity.
>They were kids engaging in self-expression and now have zero personality and dress and act like everyone else
Yes, in stark contrast to people from previous games.
No, those were adults, not kids having an autistic meltdown.
>Nuh uh the moral/message changes when they're adults!
Where does the game say that?
The moral message is that kids are moronic.
>Kids are moronic for not conforming for their entire lives and looking and acting like everyone else
In stark contrast to previous games.
Except others had their own reasons to have that fashion.
In this case it's an autistic meltdown, and that's stupid as frick.
The ultimate reason is self-expression, which we are being told is bad.
If what you want to express is stupid then yes, you are stupid.
And being a kid will never be an excuse to being stupid.
This is a pokemon game, wearing goofy outfits isn't considered stupid anywhere but in S/V.
Probably because only in SV they are in school.
And they are kids in a school where they enforce uniforms.
You don't follow the rules, you get your ass kicked out.
So self-expression is always bad. Seriously anon, this obsession with rules is a classic sign of autism.
>obsession with rules
Black person what the frick do you expect?
Even your own playable character is forced to wear a school uniform at all times, why should these four morons get to break the rules?
>Even your own playable character is forced to wear a school uniform at all times
Which is one of the shittiest parts of the game, yes.
That's irrelevant, the point is they dress like normal because they are in school, not because of some moronic Twitter-tier meltdown you are having over something as meaningless as "self expression".
>the point is they dress like normal because they are in school
And the game's message is that self-expression is bad and conformity is good.
Iono is not in the academy and dresses like a clown.
The game has no message, it's fricking Pokemon.
In previous games, child trainers were allowed self-expression like the adults were, unlike now where we're being told it's bad. BW2 didn't feel the need to shit on Iris for dressing like a princess then tell us she should wear a school uniform at all times and get an adult career.
The fact that you unironically tie these stupid outfits to "self expression" seems to me like you unironically dress like a moron irl.
In which case yes, I think self expression is a bad thing since absolutely nothing of value is ever said through looks.
Your appearance is always a form of self-expression, anon. It's one of many avenues but it is indeed one.
>You dress like a moron
Nobody dresses like an anime character in real life. That said, are you losing your shit because of anime characters not dressing realistically now?
>Nothing of value is ever said through looks
This is a testament to the fact that you look like shit, because even people who don't care about fashion care about good grooming. Saying "Nothing of value is said through grooming" implies to me that you don't even care about combing your hair.
>This is a testament to the fact that you look like shit, because even people who don't care about fashion care about good grooming. Saying "Nothing of value is said through grooming"
No, there's a difference between showering and wearing clean clothes and looking like a moron.
Now you're mischaracterizing the argument on purpose, anon. The clothing you wear and consider 'not moronic' is selected for you by a gigantic fashion industry and is vastly different from what was normal to wear a century ago. If you dressed as you do in 1896, you would be considered to look like a moron.
>Your appearance is always a form of self-expression, anon. It's one of many avenues but it is indeed one.
No, actions do.
Your clothes never say anything, even if midwits believe so because they have no personality and think they'll fool anyone into thinking they do because they wear flashy clothes.
The only thing you can express through clothing is whether you are an attention prostitute or not.
>This is a testament to the fact that you look like shit, because even people who don't care about fashion care about good grooming. Saying "Nothing of value is said through grooming" implies to me that you don't even care about combing your hair.
What does grooming have to do with clothing beyond whether they are clean or not?
Because the conversation line is about your APPEARANCE and not just clothing, narrowing it down to just clothing is disingenuous.
That doesn't mean self-expression is bad, it just means you can't show up to school dressed like a pro wrestler.
>That doesn't mean self-expression is bad,
But it does, because the conformity of the school is being praised and idealized where dressing as you like is demonized all throughout the game.
>dressing as you like is demonized all throughout the game
Aside from the students who are breaking the rules they agreed to when they became students at the Academy, where else in the game is dressing as you like demonized?
>Aside from characters actually involved in the conformity plot who mentions conformity?
Anon, don't be stupid. Also all the other characters in this game aside from Iono wear extremely normal clothing, they're all very muted and normal which drives home how standing out is bad.
>Anon, don't be stupid.
You're the one who said "all throughout the game" when you apparently only meant one subplot.
>Also all the other characters in this game aside from Iono wear extremely normal clothing, they're all very muted and normal which drives home how standing out is bad.
I dunno, they all just seem to be wearing clothes that match their jobs. You could argue the trend of gym leaders and E4 members having careers with Pokemon training and battling being more of a sidegig leads to more restrictive character design but I don't really see how that ties into the issue of conformity. Unless you're a seething NEET who's mad at the wageslaves for having jobs.
>they all just seem to be wearing clothes that match their jobs
So they are conforming and not engaging in self-expression, which was my point? Glad you agree now.
>Mad at wageslaves
I think people who wear their work uniforms at home or while engaging in their hobbies have no soul. Like this fricker who is walking around with a chef's apron at all times throughout his entire life.
Her clothing is excessively conformist, which counters the claim that people in this game outside of the school are free to act and dress how they like. Nobody in this game is except for fricking Iono.
>dressing as your job requires means you're conforming and not expressing yourself
Oh, so you ARE just a seething NEET. If you weren't you'd clearly see that Katy has clearly added her own little design flairs to her outfit, from the way she styles her hair to the detailing on her clothes. Being an adult that functions in society is about finding the middleground between expressing yourself and conforming to society's expectations. When you get a job you'll understand.
>people who wear their work uniforms at home or while engaging in their hobbies
I like how you actively ignore the actual argument being made in the post, that shows off brilliantly how you are dishonest. The point is that they dress like this while NOT working too.
But that's not an issue with the characters or their designs, that's an issue with the developers not giving enough of a shit about keeping the player immersed to give the characters with uniforms casual clothes for when they're not working. Has absolutely nothing to do with conformity, either.
I did attend a highschool that mandated uniforms. It sucked, and the school in SV also sucks for mandating uniforms.
>Where does the game say that?
Just look at any of the characters that aren't associated with the Academy and explain what dress code they're being forced to conform to. Is Iono being punished for expressing herself and dressing this way, both on stream and in public?
>Just look at any of the characters that aren't associated with the Academy
Okay, I see:
>all the other characters in this game aside from Iono wear extremely normal clothing, they're all very muted and normal which drives home how standing out is bad.
What's wrong with this character design, exactly? She's a baker. What would you like her to dress up as, a baguette?
>She's a baker.
She's a pâtissière not a baker, world of differences.
Largely irrelevant, but correct.
>self expression
Black person what the frick are you going on about lmao
They were a bunch of autistic losers who started dressing up to pretend they were special, and now they've been dealt with they went back to being regular losers.
>Nuh uh anon they deleted their personality and started conforming!
Yeah that's what I said, moron.
>Anon, they had big, obvious, bombastic personalities.
If they did I would remember them.
>Giacomo: DJ
>Atticus: Chuuni ninja
>Ortega: Tsundere richboy twink
>Mela: Punk
>Eri: Heel
Wasn't that hard.
So if the gimmick for Paradox Pokemon is that they come from an Alternate Timeline, shouldn't Guzzlord be a Paradox Pokemon?
You find them in an alternate reality Alola that was destroyed and consumed by them.
You could argue that the other Ultra Beasts are from different Planets, but Guzzlord is DEFINITELY on an Alternate Poke-Earth.
Don't worry about the particulars of the various UMP.
By the way, Mela still does her big steppy walk when she walks around, even if she's not wearing her giant boots anymore.
When do they show up?
Is this a side mission?
Also, there was a screenshot with the protagonist & their respective Professor. When does that happen?

I'm amazed at the fact that people are actually discussing Pokemon design in this thread, this doesn't happen often
>T-THE GAME IS SAYING SELF EXPRESSION IS BAD
Yes it is lmao
Stop pretending you can "say" anything through your looks beyond the amount of parental issues you have.
Just because you're too autistic to pick up on social cues doesn't mean everyone is
but it's inconsistent because gym leaders have always looked extra in this world.
NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
None of this shit would matter if they just let us customize our fricking character.
>one of the dialogue options when you talk to Mela is “I want to raid your base”
What the FRICK did they mean by this
>/vp/ making a storm in a glass of water again
Guys don't despair, once you complete the sidequest they're back to their fancy outfits at the Star bases
They always have those, since managing their bases is their official role as battle instructors. Students are now officially encouraged to take on the bases to improve their skills. The player should really get a costume of their own, since they're officially the new big boss of Team Star.
but do they get proper level 80 rematches with 6 pokes?
Thicc
How many other side things are there after the story?
CHANGE HER BACK NOW!
>Pop by the Asado Desert to go look for Moltres
>Can't find him
>Stop by Porto Marinada to see what's available
>Atticus is there, hawking replica gear he made of famous trainers
>First one is a replica of the "Dragon Gloves", which I don't recognize
>Old Man in the auction pushes the damn gloves up to 375,000 Poke before he finally backs down
>Next item is a replica of the Expansion Suit helmet
Well damn. I wonder if the other Team Star members are around somewhere.
Oh now I remember, it's this homosexual's gloves.
She won
Is there a normi version of Ortega too?
oh atticus is really cursed
Holy shit, they managed to make Mela look a million times better than Eri just by taking off both their makeup. Insane.
>make Mela look a million times better than Eri
What's with SV having unattractive and non feminine looking girls?
Mela looked better with the makeup.
