Monetization sucked ass, so people left. To the point where they went
      >HA HA! Just kidding about our soft-launch, we were uh...
      >STILL IN OPEN BETA! (Yeah that's it and morons like believe us!)
      >PAY NO ATTENTION TO THE $100 EARLY SUPPORTER PACK WE MADE! SEE YOU IN A YEAR!
      >Only for us to repeat the same mistakes and have the game die a second time!

Also sMellee pedos didn't like it, which killed it.

Yet another GaaS game with barely any content and an unhinged MTX store

Fighting/smash clones aren't for the general public, if they get any traction its because of the prizing in events, only very autistic people enjoy playing these for extended periods of time.

      >only very autistic people enjoy playing these for extended periods of time
that goes for every fighting game ever

You can't compete with Smash's roster at all so stop trying to make mismatched crossover rosters that don't appeal to the fans, and you can't get Meleegays to play anything else so stop trying to cater to them.

Smash clones have to realize that appealing to Meleegays is pointless. They want to yiff with Fox on Final Destination on a CRT until the end of time, no matter what they say.

You're thinking of Nickelodeon All Star Brawl, Multiversus didn't go the full wavedash autism route.
The problem multiversus did have is that the game is balanced around 2v2, so you either had to bother a friend every time you wanted to play, play woth a moronic PC AI,or play with randos.

    >release game
    >take stupid peoples money
    >game dies
    >close up shop, "see you next year!"
    >"what? no, this was never the real thing. you just assumed that. later!"
and they fricking got away with it, too

Not enough reindog, thus not enough revenue, thus taken down. Sad. They should've given people what they want. (More reindog)

I wonder who is behind these posts...
      It's Reindog.

I don't like having to log in and grind dailies just to unlock characters.

    Shit got old fast.

Game just isn't very good. It feels floaty and shit, it's too complicated for its own good too. On a personal level, I hate what they did for Shaggy too.

Worse physics than brawl. Characters were floaty as frick and basically never died. Doesn't help that there's move staling in a game with like 8 moves per character.

battlepass grind and monetization grind killed it
    >first battlepass is super easy
    >make the next one a lot harder burning out a lot of people
    >selling costumes for 20 dollars, most other fighting games sell them for 5 dollars max
    >gamebalance was never good

The gameplay was ass, it's annoying to see people say muh roster was the reason people stopped playing as if good games need active support to keep their communities. Multiversus' issue wasn't that Joker or Daffy weren't in, the problem was that it was floaty as shit with no punish game and everyone could get by just by mashing dodge after every attack.

If they want people to keep playing it they need to add weight to the gameplay, as it is now it's like you're fighting on a stage made of soap in 0.4 gravity.

This. Multiversus is basically just hit trading until someone dies at 200%.

    >online doesn't work
    >balance is terrible
    >events and battlepass are extra grindy and they made it so you have to grind even more
    >costumes are ludicrously expensive
    >people stop caring because they aren't adding more characters after several months or fixing the online
    >"uh it was open beta. we're closing it. bye."
and it sucks because I was looking forward to playing Witch or Beetlejuice
maybe they'll pull it off and fix it, but people probably won't care by then

Don't forget that you had to go out of your way to even do local matches, rather than just having it as a regular option.

I liked it initially, but the lack of support, not fighters or stages but fricking support/bug fixing/updates, was frustrating. Then the new fighters very quickly were substantially power creeping over launch day. I think them taking the game down, while absolutely embarrassing, was the right call to make and I'm optimistic they can re-launch much stronger.

They didn't spend enough money on getting streamers to pretend to like it.

The release was supposed to be just a beta.
But it was so successful that the developers couldn't shut down the test, upper management wanted to start farming all those players.
Which blew up on their faces, couldn't make Content fast enough so it felt complete
