Demon of Hatred is a souls boss that's doesn't fit Sekiro's gameplay at all.

Yeah, thats why old man isshin fricks ng+ players so hard, because he fights like a boss youve already beaten, but you need to react differently to identical moves. Once you get past that though his stats are really low but its still my favourite fight
Also old man isshin has the flashiest attack in the game and its worth fighting him to see it.
Different experience for me. I fought that old man before owl shinobi through savescumming and took me 10-15 tries, like most bosses that walled me in the game. Isshin saint took me around the same number of tries but it feels somewhat easier because I already fought his old version. I'm sure I would've struggled more if I didn't fought the old one.
In ng+ without charm and with demon bell, I defeated him in 1 try. Emma fricked me up a little in that fight though iirc.

i think different encounters are difficult for some and not others
some people say guardian ape is hard whilst he's a cakewalk for me, and the opposite with demon of hatred, though he's much easier with the umbrella that can block all the AOE fire attacks iirc
but yeah i can beat isshin real easy too. Even DSP beat him on his 3rd try and exclaimed 'was that it?'

isshin is a fair duel where all you have to do is deflect and mikiri right 50 times and then do few successfull lightning reversals. demons of hatred has weird hitboxes and bullshit fire attacks, same with owl's firecracker bullshit.

On my killing attempt I decided to use every single healing item in my inventory, all the persimmons and handfuls of rice and shit

After I beat him I looked up some strategy stuff and there was a lot I was doing suboptimally, but whatever lol - the fun of any of these games is the feeling of slowly getting better at the fight
