Good question...
For being the most technologically advanced human faction within IoM, their tech looks like Da Vinci's drawings copies made by someone with sledgehammer shoved in their skull.
The entire AdMech miniatures line basically exists to be cut up for kitbashing purposes. I've never actually seen a whole AdMech army out in the wild, but I've seen tons of conversions that use their bits to make other Imperial armies look more grimdark.
He'd look great if you just kitbashed him with freaky digitigrade legs that would let him raise and lower. I imagine messing with his height would set off waac alarms though.
huh, right, so, not so knowledgeable on wargaming, but typically, Infantry tends to not have a great deal of methods to get height advantage Line of Sight, so this infantry kind of solves this by, well, being a stilted heavy marksman. so it can look over obstacles, get LoS on VIP, Priority targets, HQ, whatever it is you want to shoot at. so think likeyou got this big wall with no ramparts, plop him up against it and if the walls is the right height, he can shoot over and maybe get partial cover
It's not disturbing looking. GW has lent hard on raygun stuff for admech since they gave them models. He looks like he's from a scifi comics chapter called "RONALD RISK MEETS: PROFESSOR X AND HIS DASTARDLY STILT-MEN".
And somehow it's still not as cool as that would be.
What the frick is the point of this unit? Both current admech chicken walkers can already act as snipers. The Sydonian Dragoon can already act like a sniper when equipped with a Jezzail. The Ballistarii is already a sharpshooter. Why the frick does the Admech need yet ANOTHER sharpshooter unit?
Actually, why don't they just make the 30k admech range in plastic? They would be much better received than the longleg sniper, and the work is already done...
I honestly don't know. Some anons believe that Jes Goodwin doesn't like how the 30k Mechanicum look. And that he wants 40k Admech to stay how he envisions them
Actually, why don't they just make the 30k admech range in plastic? They would be much better received than the longleg sniper, and the work is already done...
They were going to.
Tl;dr they didn’t because they didn’t tell FW 8th edition (or primaris) was happening
And then Bligh died
The weirdest thing is that there obviously is a big difference between the first and second waves. There was its share of moronic stuff then too like pic rel but all the moronic da Vinci, cowboy and random ww2 elements( like on the hovercraft) shit wasn't there yet, that's just a random idea he got later.
Electro-priests, and especially fulgurites, look atrocious and don't mesh at all with the rest of the faction. For the longest time I was convinced they were some old metal holdovers from the pre-Skitarii codex era, but no. Somebody actually designed that for 7ed.
they were mentioned in the soul drinkers book when they first assault some mechanicus base for a chapter relic the cogfrickers were hiding, back in like 2002

Yeah but the resemblance with the pale/blueish bald dude thing is amusing.
I know there's no way they designed and produced models within like a year.
Because GW will now have to gaslight people again why it's not feasible to resculpt a whole FW resin range for plastic extrusion molds, even though the process is known and it's not as difficult and expensive as GW made it out to be. Throw in some "small indie company" and "please understand" and you've got your usual GW defense front.
Meanwhile two brothers and a dozen warehouse workers make extrusion molded plastic kits in full color retail packaging for kickstarter exclusives shipping to maybe 3,000 people total.
I'm just waiting for their 15th Kickstarter where the full encounter decks are too tall to be placed on a table in a room without vaulted ceilings, and the game has expanded to include Superhero, 1940s detect fiction, and blaxploitation themes.
Because that was created during the Alan-Bligh era of Forgeworld by people who actually had a vested interest in Warhammer and not just onions soaked marvel inspired art students who applied to work at GW after hearing about 40k through a WoTC grapevine.
It's a Vultarax Stratos-Automata, and the visual similarity between it and blight/bloat drones is intentional, since the 8th edition Death Guard codex points it out.

No.
I just mean in general.

Nope, people get mad because "design is wronk".
By that logic someone should be able to turn up to a Napoleonic war game with their officer kitbashed to carry a tommy gun and expect to not be laughed out of the store.

My point is 30k is meant more like a historical war game than 40k. And the community has embraced that.

It isn't.
It's also fact that during the Great Crusade and the Heresy there were shit tons of experimental and weird shit happening with technology within the Imperium because they were actually back then because the Emperor fricking told the Mechanicus to get on with it.
There's a reason why there's like 3 patterns of bolters in GC and in HH, mainly phobos, tigrus and umbra. But those are not the only things that existed.
The universe of 40k is vast, everything that GW shows and makes is just a minor fraction of all the shit that exists within it.

That's not an excuse. The fact that GW had good homework to use as a template for 40k just makes their decisions around the Admech all the more rediculous
You don't get to specify that the right answer to a question isn't allowed because asdfg. The exact issue is that it's wildly expensive if you don't want t trash green army man tier plastic from China, not all armies are represented and also it's a niche game.
>Durr well just play this version of the game that doesn't suck that nobody plays
No, I think I'll just demand that the core game not suck, that seems like a better plan.
Ok, so I'm thinking of some way to convert this abomination into something that looks decent. I was thinking of one of the pteraxii with the sniper rifle of the skitarii, a servoskull for decoration and a head with visors or something like that. Maybe it is at the top of some ruins to add the needed height. Thoughts?
I was thinking of some sort of baroque observation tower/sniper's perch, maybe with kataphron treads as a base and just putting him on top with regular legs instead of stilts.
Someone at GW decided AdMech would be the Jules Verne Weird West in space faction and I honestly have no idea why when the HH big stompy combat servitors and cyborgs seem like a better fit.
Did someone associate the red desert of mars with the old west and decide to roll with that?
I would actually prefer if it looked like a skitarii centaur inspired by the quadrupedal stilt carrier from Duran Duran Arena. Just add a couple mechadendrites to handle guns. The whole concert-movie is already some some sort of Technobarbarian ritual to appease the Warp. Though then it might look too much like the Dragoons.
I have no idea how no one in GWs extensive design process stopped and said "this looks fricking moronic". My guess is they just didn't care enough and know the paypiggies will buy 20 of them anyway. Then 20 more when all their legs inevitably snap off.
would appear to be very much a model that's only practical on the modern style of table of L shaped ruins with no rubble and perfectly flat printed mats
GW needs to just make Men of Iron the new necrons (mechanical beings of unknown origin who come out of nowhere to attack human settlements and leave having massacred everyone). GW desperately wants a robot faction but never executes it right, so now you have Admech's cyborgs and the Necron 'living metal' ghostbots and the Votann with their Ancestor Cores and kinbots but not a true Abominable Intelligence that learned to hate and really fricking hates all meatbags and meatbag-adjacent races.
Lemme tell you, i fricking LOVE this moron, its so stupid and unnecessary its exactyl the kind of thing Admech are about, and continues with the aesthetic of rust-desert crossing pilgrims/nomads they keep touching on so much.
i said as much before, every year Admuch just keep getting more of a mechanical turnip28 vibe than the marching death of precision we think they should be and really I'm loving it.
Of course a Turd28 fan would love this, your entire hobby is built around >Does this fit the source material's vibe? Or previous descriptions and depictions? Pff, who cares, it's LULRANDUMB and looks like rejected Tim Burton movie concept art with a piss filter wowee!
30k has Tech Guard which are the ACUTAL admech guardsmen that GW tried to make skittles into for a brief moment in early 10th, they are all but lobotomized factory workers hastily augmented to be line holders with basic weapons and armor.
40k admech can actually take basic servitors as well but for some reason GW made their version BS 6+ instead of the 4+ space marine ones get, so they are the worst unit in an awful, AWFUL index. Along with being pig ugly ancient models.
Yeah? And what if the primary function is to take apart both the mechanical and organic into their base components?
I always feel like Admech is inches away from being a good Necromancer army, a part of me just wants just to have swathes of low quality hordes of slow moving servitors that are shit until they finally get to you, backed up by a techpriest or two that can heal them back into being. Necrons should be the ideal Necromancery army but it sure as hell ain't.
i just feel like they're missing a beat for a very different kind of gameplay only a single addition of a model will require.
>Tech-Thralls literally being cyber-zombies >Backed by more elite cyber-undead in the form of the Skitarii (Grave Guard) >Alongside giant single-entities like the Automata (Vargheists/Vargulfs/etc) >All led by the Tech-Priests directing them with merely a gesture. >Also Ad Mech in the fluff have really good ships and artillery like the vampire Coast
Frick anon, I think you might be onto something...
He must struggle as frick to sit down and stand up.
Like this always get me about mechanics designs. Those are his legs now. They don't just pop off, and then he gets fitted with normal legs. To the omnissiah he has been blessed with long strides, and a son of a b***h time if he ever falls over or needs to get gum off his heel.
he would just take them off, anon. he probably has regular legs he can use.
Bro, that thing looks like it's gonna fall over from a strong breeze
If that thing's representing the west then I don't think money is enough to save it
If anti-40k rhetoric keeps getting tossed around, other franchises will overtake it. 40k is the last bastion of the west, culturally. No matter what happens, you need to show loyalty and support it. Otherwise, our culture will die
The entire basis of the design comes off as GW trying to just make him vaguely fit in with Ad Mech 'weird techno spookiness'.
And in doing so, they're giving Ad Mech yet ANOTHER sniper that they have no fricking need for.
This has been a consistent theme since GW originally tried to make the Ad Mech two distinct factions and then merged them, they don't seem to have an idea in mind for what the Ad Mech should be in regards to playstyle or general design, so just throw darts at a board with Wild West Cowboys and old Ad Mech art.
This is in comparison to Marines having a general jack of all trades theme that then gets refined depending on chapter (or DID before Primaris) or SoB being a fast, close ranged mechanised army. Or Guard being the Wall of Guns and Tanks.
It's even further been fricked with Votann becoming a thing, because before GW seemed to be going with Ad Mech as the Dawi in Space, with tanky units and really really good shooting, but slow and with limited fast movement/transports.
Hence why I think they just need to bite that fricking bullet and accept Ad Mech are the Vampire Counts of 40k like 30k did ages ago. And even that is slowly being erased.
Tl;dr: Alan Bligh's death and its consequences has been a disaster for 40k lore.

Sad, many such cases.
>remember Simpsons in the 90s? Everyone loved that shit! So we do that, in plastic. >Jarvis, you've done it again! Just for that, I'm leaving your wedding picture up tonight while I'm plowing your wife.
I think its neat. The actual torso/dude looks great, and the extendo-legs to shoot over stuff - while silly - feel like the kind of conversion/background setting element you would expect to see somewhere.
Its biggest issue imo is that its not really "the relese for the edition" material.
Its moronic by definition. A sniper does not want to stick out over the top of all other battlefield combatants. He does not want to stick out over rubble and ruins.
He should lay low and hide.
Stop complaining when gw takes a risk and designs something weird, you might not like this one but do you really want vanilla primaris marines with no soul or creativity ever again?
Theres got to be a fricking middle ground between Primaris yet again and...this fricking thing.
How about some more genestealer cults? Or maybe a refresh of the missing Dark Eldar stuff?
The hilarious thing is 'thing on stilts' isn't even a new concept for modern GW. Warcry has this glorious motherfricker
Its called a Blissful One.. He and his fellow Slaneeshi cultists practice ritual mutilation and amputation. because they're basically ripoff Cenobites.
He is the best stilt man GW has ever made.
The goofy mother fricker is supposed to be firing a powerful rifle off of the stilts. Needing to reposition and not be knocked down by recoil makes the whole concept moronic.
I was sketching out a different profile because I think the idea could be sound (spooky sniper guy with bug eyes stalking around on creepy slenderman legs)
But the 40k admech aesthetics are just such absolute dogshit. The curvilinear trimmed, steampunk gun with wood furniture. How all skitarii have stupid pants with their knees cutoff.
It's just such an abortion of an army. They need a redesign like Tyranids going from 2nd ed to 3rd ed.
>buy a heavy weapons team for 60 dollars
Or >buy an aberrrants box and assorted bits for 90 dollars to make the heavy weapons teams actually fit my army
Frick it. Money is fleeting. Kitbashes are eternal.
>Then what the frick is stopping us from throwing ourself off the tansvector and giving up >Saying, "yeah the forgeworld is dying" >the magos hates us >the space marines are leaving >the xenos are contacting us >We may be alone >It just be me you and me. >but that's okay, because do you really need anyone else?!
?t=161
At least it'll be fun to call of duty montage some characters with this guy once in a blue moon with the relic upgrade.
My only hope for 40k admech is something like what Fires of Cyraxus was supposed to be, allowing you to use mechanicum models in 40k.
I seriously don't understand what they were thinking, the admech have the opportunity to be one of the most unique, weird, body-horror army around, and instead you get their basic troops having big blue friendly eyes, moronic flintlock weapons, stupid davinci gliders and robots that are 10000x uglier than their 30k counterparts. I wish we could go back to the Crimson Guard bros...
Why is there not a single admech mini that isn't a robed techpriest or robot that isn not laughably bad?
Good question...
For being the most technologically advanced human faction within IoM, their tech looks like Da Vinci's drawings copies made by someone with sledgehammer shoved in their skull.
But the Kastlans look like shit as well.
It's basically only 30k admech that don't look fricking moronic
Go-Go,Gadget legs!
>Retractable legs
That would actually be a neat explanation for this mini. Otherwise, it's bloody idiotic.
we live in a post-primaris world. there is no longer, and never will be again, such a thing as "too stupid for 40k".
I wanted looted vehicles back.
A model you cant actually transport or use anywhere. Frick I thought the ankles on the tau battlesuits were moronic.
Designed by someone who doesn't actually game
>someone who doesn't actually game
That's 90% of warhammer market share.
Uhmm turn your brain off and just buy it, ok chud?

It's so easy, even Arkane could do it right yet GW still fell flat on their face.

Ronald Risk sounds awesome I hope he kicks Professor X's ass
No refunds. $28 in silver.
No mercy.
Ripping off all the i28 and blanchitsu derivatives to cycle them back into 40k. Its sort of funny.

It's been on "hiatus" for ten years and apparently they're now finally going to finish it.
There's also spinoff called Claudia Chevalier Vampire, if memory serves it's slightly less "metal" and slightly more "vulgar" than Requiem.
Good luck hiding that thing in a game that uses shitty true line of sight
Good like hiding FROM it, which would appear to be the point
Aren't they shorter than the chicken walkers with sniper rifle?
It has lone operative, you don't need to hide it
Yeah, that's a miss for me. I DO like a lot of new AdMech stuff like the Ironstriders, though. When was the last time they did a pass on servitors?

imagine if that thing dangling between his legs was his wiener
That's his prolapsed fart tube.
Shut the frick, idiot
I have no idea how no one in GWs extensive design process stopped and said "this looks fricking moronic". My guess is they just didn't care enough and know the paypiggies will buy 20 of them anyway. Then 20 more when all their legs inevitably snap off.
Well I see SOMEONE played Dishonored.
Imagine this with redundant mechandrites, a huge sniper rifle and a couple of servoskulls floating about. That would have been good
There
Seems a bit short. Plz add two storeys of legs.
STILTMASTER 40,000
I think it looks cool af tbh. For me it successfully rides the line of goofy and cool looking.
There, I fixed him. Shouldn't ever be a very difficult conversion.
https://minicompare.info/?sydonian-skatros=&sydonian-skatros-snipped=&skitarii-ranger-a=
Yep. Looks way better. I get that they're probably supposed to be mobile communications network node towers, but they're just really outta place.
I unironically like it.
would appear to be very much a model that's only practical on the modern style of table of L shaped ruins with no rubble and perfectly flat printed mats
He's great, I love him
Might do a small mechanicus force because of this guy
GW needs to just make Men of Iron the new necrons (mechanical beings of unknown origin who come out of nowhere to attack human settlements and leave having massacred everyone). GW desperately wants a robot faction but never executes it right, so now you have Admech's cyborgs and the Necron 'living metal' ghostbots and the Votann with their Ancestor Cores and kinbots but not a true Abominable Intelligence that learned to hate and really fricking hates all meatbags and meatbag-adjacent races.
The future. Get with the times, grandpa.
I call him Daddy Longlegs
That is a Sydonian Skatros anon, it says in the pic. Get your eyes tested and stop wanking to Slaanesh r34 you virgin
Sydonian Skatman w Meltadong. What is your problem
Of course a Turd28 fan would love this, your entire hobby is built around
>Does this fit the source material's vibe? Or previous descriptions and depictions? Pff, who cares, it's LULRANDUMB and looks like rejected Tim Burton movie concept art with a piss filter wowee!
Turnip28 has soul. Nu40k is corporate slop. The solution is to start killing 40k players en masse.
The concept is sort of fine if somewhat redundant because ironstriders exist. The execution is fricking terrible though.
Necromancy at its finest
So we can have
Basic servitors
Praetorian servitors
Some walkers
Non duck tank
Unchaosed robosaurs
Servoskulls swarms
Some units from 30k
Why there is no basic servitors? Basic b***h servitors with wrenches and blowtorches. This should be base of AdMech army, and skittles more elite.
Workers work, soldiers fight, using either for the other purpose is highly inefficient.
>Tech-Thralls literally being cyber-zombies
>Backed by more elite cyber-undead in the form of the Skitarii (Grave Guard)
>Alongside giant single-entities like the Automata (Vargheists/Vargulfs/etc)
>All led by the Tech-Priests directing them with merely a gesture.
>Also Ad Mech in the fluff have really good ships and artillery like the vampire Coast
Frick anon, I think you might be onto something...
Sold!
he would just take them off, anon. he probably has regular legs he can use.
That was fast
oshit, yeah someone challenged him in a reddit and he was already on it
>him
shes got a c**t, breasts and womb. and the enough mental illness / daddy issues to make onlyfans prostitutes look normal
the artsy ones are always crazy
"artsy"
Please
true art is born from suffering of the author, not from suffering of artist's sadomasochistic bullybait OC
>Sadomasochitic bullybait
You are a taxonomist of mentally ill art
gogo gadet legs
Who would win in a fight?
Gadget is essentially a Magos so my money's on him.
You will buy it to keep western civilization from falling.
Praise be the trumperor of kekind. Anti40k agitation will be met with as much force as neccessary.
First the Fusil-Major, now this?
Is there a Manlet at GW trying to cope or some shit?
Don't you dare talk shit about the big boy lookin after his Dad
>heh Manlets. When will they learn?
He must struggle as frick to sit down and stand up.
Like this always get me about mechanics designs. Those are his legs now. They don't just pop off, and then he gets fitted with normal legs. To the omnissiah he has been blessed with long strides, and a son of a b***h time if he ever falls over or needs to get gum off his heel.
I was assuming those weird springs on the legs are meant to imply they can telescope to reduce/increase his height as needed.
Yes I know this is just me trying to cope with the design.
But his design looks cool af. You people are all wrong and have shit taste and I hate you all.
No his design is further proof GW has no fricking idea what they want the Ad Mech to be as an army.
Elaborate?
>Reddit spacing
> waaahhh my 55 IQ points can't handle the concept of paragraphs
>everything must be one unbroken stream of consciousness or I shit myself
>redditgay doesn't know difference between paragraphs and reddit spacing
Sad, many such cases.
A long boy.
WARHAMMER? MORE LIKE MANLETHAMMER LMAAAAAAAAOOOOOOOO
OHNOONONONNOONO
>remember Simpsons in the 90s? Everyone loved that shit! So we do that, in plastic.
>Jarvis, you've done it again! Just for that, I'm leaving your wedding picture up tonight while I'm plowing your wife.
What did GW mean by this
It's his dilator
James Workshop is tapping into the kinky cosplay market now.... how devilish.
How does he shit?
See
You may not like it but that is what peak performance looks like... For a uh. Stilt... Sniper infantry guy.
hey remember when a game made to be kinda moronic had stiltwalker units already?
I think its neat. The actual torso/dude looks great, and the extendo-legs to shoot over stuff - while silly - feel like the kind of conversion/background setting element you would expect to see somewhere.
Its biggest issue imo is that its not really "the relese for the edition" material.
lmao astartebabies on suicide watch
Greatest pleb filter GW have ever released. Pure 40k and if you don't like it it confirms you as a try hard and probably a secondary.
Again, the concept of a sniper on stilts COULD work. But this isn't a good way to do it. Pic related, some random dude sketched this idea.
Forgot pic related.
>made it kriegslop
Every time
Mechanicus dragoons have single spike helmets you fricking tourist.
Making it invisible is a great improvement
>Again, the concept of a sniper on stilts COULD work
Dishonored (vidya) did it before.
>sniper on stilts
Its moronic by definition. A sniper does not want to stick out over the top of all other battlefield combatants. He does not want to stick out over rubble and ruins.
He should lay low and hide.
>*pop*
This is honestly one of the worst minis I've ever seen from GW.
I just don't understand it's purpose. Is it good on the tabletop cause of the height? can it snipe duders or something?
>skat
Looks like it.
Why don't they just make new servitors and robots? You know, what people actually want?
If this was an Ork model, it would be brilliant
If it was a Grot it would have been perfect.
Stop complaining when gw takes a risk and designs something weird, you might not like this one but do you really want vanilla primaris marines with no soul or creativity ever again?
Frick you Jes, your designs SUCK
it's a skitarii on fricking sticks
Theres got to be a fricking middle ground between Primaris yet again and...this fricking thing.
How about some more genestealer cults? Or maybe a refresh of the missing Dark Eldar stuff?
How about something that isn't just thing on stilts?
They had two years to review this damn thing.
The nurgle swamp guys are neat too
What’s wrong with stilts though
Just not liking it isn’t a good enough reason.
The goofy mother fricker is supposed to be firing a powerful rifle off of the stilts. Needing to reposition and not be knocked down by recoil makes the whole concept moronic.
Why does it have a swinging exhaust wiener
This character will cost like 50 points while the model will cost 45 dollars.
And every admech army will want 3 of these ugly c**ts because cheapo lone operative is god tier utility.
They might one day. They are suffering from a major identity crisis right now due to lacking most of their 30k stuff.
I still can't get over the fact that these guys got the higgens D-Day boat when the Imperial Guard are a direct analog to WW2 Americans.
Paint the Chimera red, give it to Ad Mech, paint this green, give it to IG.
Because the Chimera makes it 110% redundant.
I meant swap them. Better still, scrap the Chimera, give IG this boat, then actually give the Ad Mech something more impressive than a floating box.
That's one of the most absolutely fricking moronic ideas I have ever read on this site.
First day, huh?
Or just ditch the dumb boar entirely and let admech take whatever vehicles they like since, ya know, they build the fricking things.
Chimeras are amphibious.
They dont have a front ramp tho
I saved this edit when the hovershart came out. good shit.
oh damn 40k has LCACs now?
>buy a heavy weapons team for 60 dollars
Or
>buy an aberrrants box and assorted bits for 90 dollars to make the heavy weapons teams actually fit my army
Frick it. Money is fleeting. Kitbashes are eternal.
Or, you know, just print most of the bits and use some bodies
The mechancum could go in all sorts of weird and wacky ways but GW seesm deadset on 'cyborg slaves in red robes with wooden guns'
Gw have less imagination for their setting than disney does with star wars.
Fricking amazing is what it is.
Admech's solution to the Manlet problem.
Marvel finna sue them for unauthorized use of Stilt-Man.
>Then what the frick is stopping us from throwing ourself off the tansvector and giving up
>Saying, "yeah the forgeworld is dying"
>the magos hates us
>the space marines are leaving
>the xenos are contacting us
>We may be alone
>It just be me you and me.
>but that's okay, because do you really need anyone else?!
?t=161
At least it'll be fun to call of duty montage some characters with this guy once in a blue moon with the relic upgrade.
>finally i can punch that stupid armiger pilot in the face for taking my favorite spanner wrench
40kgays will defend this and try to cope with this
A shit concept.
