I say this with not a single bit of irony, I wish we had way more depressed earthbound RPGs. I would love to play fifteen more games as quality as Undertale.
There was a time on Ganker in the late 2000s/early 2010s where all anyone did was talking about indie games. Super Meat Boy, Limbo, Stardew Valley, Darkest Dungeon, Papers Please, Hotline Miami, FTL, Shovel Knight, Amnesia, Binding of Isaac, Minecraft, Monday Night Combat, Braid. This is on top of games like Cave Story always being mentioned among games people should have to play.
Then something happened and all anyone here knew how to do was engage in culture war. All that mattered was the state of AAA games.
