What the frick is with all these complaints about this game being "too hard"? It's easier than fricking Super Metroid, and WAY easier than Fusion.
In Super it was actually realistic that you might run out of health and die while exploring if you got careless, whereas Dread showers you with health pickups nonstop. The bosses in Super are roughly on par with those in Dread in terms of difficulty, with the added inconvenience of not having checkpoints right outside the door. Then you have Fusion's bosses, which make everything in Dread look like a joke because they hit much harder relative to your life pool, take way longer to kill, and in Fusion you don't have a million different tools to effortlessly escape danger like you do in Dread.
Have the people who find this game hard actually played the other games in the series?

Yes
I find it weird, too. Strikes me as astroturfing more than anything genuine. The enemy attack telegraphing is super obvious. Once you see the pattern once, it's over.
I've died more to emmis than I have all other reasons in the rest of the franchise (besides mp2 spider ball guardian) put together
>died more to emmis
That's not really "dying" though, because you get an instant game over and you never have to go more than 20 seconds in an EMMI area at once, so you lose no progress.
Besides staring at load screens for 10 seconds
Oh so you lose 30 secs of progress, that changes everything
I died more in this game than in Super but yeah, the generous pickups and checkpoints kept it from feeling harder. Just a game with some challenging EMMI encounters and bosses. Honestly though I don't think any non-attention-seekers are actually complaining about it being hard. People bring up the difficulty sure but it's usually in the "oh ok, I gotta pay attention to these bosses, cool" kind of way
You must be trolling because the other games are a cakewalk compared to Dread and even Samus Returns.
They aren't though. I died more to Kraid in my first playthrough of Super than I did to him in Dread.
Are you kidding? I died more to Kraid in Dread that I ever have in the 25 years I've been playing Super Metroid.
>in the 25 years I've been playing Super Metroid

Frick off. I remember the first time I played Super Metroid and it wasn't nearly as difficult as Dread is. In Super Metroid you will not die more than once or twice fighting a boss for the first time because they literally only have a few attack to learn and avoid. In Dread not only do they have many attacks but they hit hard too and so it can take a while to figure out the perfect strategy to fight them.
Then you're moronic I'm sorry to say
No, you're moronic for finding Dread Kraid challenging in any way, when all his attacks are extremely well telegraphed and completely predictable, meaning that it should never take a person with a functioning brain more than two attempts to kill him.
What do I do after defeating the 2nd EMMI?
I'm just running around getting filtered by these heat rooms and I see no clear path forward.
So your most recent upgrade was the Spider Magnet?
If so you need to locate the boss that gives the stealth cloak, the path to progression immediately after EMMI 2 is a room with magnet walls to climb and a wall at the top of the room in the middle that can be shot to be broken
No, I have the stealth cloak. I made my way to the elevator for Cataris and there's fire rooms wherever I go.
you have to redirect the lava flow which opens thermal doors, if you've already done so then check your map
I did that before killing the emmi, unless you're telling me that I have to do it again then shit.
You have to do it a lot. Just explore, that's the whole point of the game.
You talking about the white one? If I'm not wrong this one gives the spider magnet, loof for places with blue thing which you can use to climb and go to Cataris.
Nevermind I'm moronic. I found the breakable wall to the right of the Cataris elevator.
was about to tell you that but i'm glad to see you found it yourself
keep at it anon

You need to understand this, you played metroid, you know how to not be moronic, that's not the same thing with all the others homosexuals jumping in and treating this game as their first metroid. No wonder people are crying about difficulty, they have problem figuring out were to shoot.
>quarantine + new Animal Crossing = more casuals getting into games, particularly Nintendo games
>these people get other games for their Switch like BOTW and Mario Kart, aren't very challenging so they assume this is the standard
>they decide to try the new game releasing for their switch (Metroid Dread) having never played the other Metroid games, let alone many retro games or 2d platformers in general
you know what happens next
I've played every game in the franchise multiple times on normal/hard modes and Dread is easily the hardest of them, enemies do far more damage in Dread generally, especially with the bosses which can deal up to 4 E-tanks on HM, before the 3DS games, you could more or less heavily facetank through a good chunk of 2D Metroid games and be fine
No one is talking about hard mode, we're talking about a default first playthrough as that is what all the pathetic homosexuals whining about the difficulty are complaining about.
You homosexuals thought Metroid games were hard?
Why are you all comparing it to those old dusty games, instead of Return of Samus by the same developer on 3DS?
(Though I find Return of Samus to be easy as well, despite people online complaining about the counter mechanism etc)
play it on Fusion mode bro
"I don't have the amiibo"
no excuse, theres a homebrew app that lets you spoof amiibo
>nintendo became mainstream once again
>normies get into nintendo game
>new metroid have a shit ton of marketing and hype from mouth to mouth
>get into a game that doesn handhold you that much
>y cant metroid crawl?
it’s the price to pay for nintendo being such a casual company that panders to normies
You'll never have samus top you while she threatens to suck the life out of you if you cum before she does
Just checking in here. Fighting the final boss. Any tips anons?
Super bomb the suns and black holes and slide when he charges.
Deal damage to him whilst simultaneously avoiding taking damage yourself.
accept my friend request homosexual
contrary to what the other anon said, don't PB the black holes, save those for the sun
the most efficient way to take out the black orbs is to shoot 4 missiles at them
start a speed boost from the bottom left, jump, then jump and wall jump, slide to break the blocks and keep going until the left side where you can store the charge, then go back and bomb the blocks and then shinespark up, much easier method
Beam spam on first phase, mostly spam missiles on third and final phase but spam some beam between missile shots if you can get the rhythm.
There are no tips that can save you anon. His strength agility and intellect are far superior to yours. I calculate that the only logical response is to submit
>In Super it was actually realistic that you might run out of health and die while exploring if you got careless, whereas Dread showers you with health pickups nonstop.
Bait: The Statement
>I've played the game 8000 times and completely memorized it so it's super easy now
Shut up
After you hit a certain point in dread every enemy shits out blobs that restore health and ammo.
Glowing red indicates he's going to do one of the counterable attacks, you can duck/slide under the (nearly)full-screen attack and then counter the follow-up he does if the first part doesn't connect.
You're pretty squishy to start with, but making use of the bonus health + ammo from counters should be enough to get you through even if you're having trouble avoiding hits.
I'm telling you, She's so squishy you don't even have a chance to learn those counters. You can't trigger those drops and avoid those attacks if you don't know what's comming.
Lol you're a disingenuous frick.
It's hard as frick. I can pull the stuff off but yeah it's frickin hard dude, .webm took a frickin hour
In Metroid dread you will take over a tank worth of damage per hit with gravity suit from regular enemies.
In Super Metroid you will take less than 50 damage with gravity from Ridley.
Enemies do a LOT more damage in Dread and you can't just damage race bosses to death anymore.
This is a good thing since it means you need to learn how to dodge, but people going in with Super Metroid expectations are going to get walled until they learn it doesn't work that way anymore.
Yes but in Dread you have an instant teleport move, a counter and the ability to freely aim at any angle, making it far easier to kill every enemy before they ever get close. The enemies in Dread may do more damage per hit, but you don't end up in situations where you're swarmed by enemies because you couldn't hit them before they got close and you have no easy way to get away from them, and so they hit you over and over again, which is what happens in Super. You almost never take just one hit of damage in Super, you take several.
You don't end up in those situations in Super either since you get tons of I frames when you get touched by an enemy. Dread doesn't give you mercy invuln btw so enjoy losing several tanks if an enemy backs you into the corner.
I'm honestly shocked that anyone thinks Super is difficult for any reason besides getting lost.
I don't think I ever died after getting Varia so I'm curious as to which parts of the game were killing you. There aren't swarms of enemies in Super because the game can't handle that much action. Were you just ignoring wave beam or something?
>if an enemy backs you into the corner
This can literally never happen because you can just mash the melee button and the enemy will be slapped away.
That doesn't magically mean the enemy doesn't do damage.
That it can be dodged does not mean that a player is going to know enough to do that. Furthermore since you die so quickly that means a player is unlikely to have time to learn through experimentation before dying.
This is why Dread is difficult and Super is not. In Super you have dozens of second chances. In Dread you get 3.
What a fricking 10/10 game
easily game of the year, I mean honestly what tops it? psychonauts 2?
I died more in Super Metroid, but I was 7 years old when that game came out, and 90% of those deaths were crocomire.
Dreads super fricking generous with Checkpoints, but the Samus is such a glass canon and you die too fast to learn the enemies patterns unless you scrounge up every energy tank available.
Samus got all the Thot genes and all the Mawkin genes, and the Metroid genes.
But who got all of Samus's recessive genes.
Playing them side by side I think Super can be harder. Bosses don't always have attacks you can dodge 100% reliably. Plus Super doesn't hand you full health and missiles all of the time. I think you could argue that these are different approaches to difficulty and not just an absolute scale, but still.
>It's easier than fricking Super Metroid
>I know a precise speedrun strat for this boss, so the game is easy
Once more for the drooling autists like the guy I'm replying to: THIS THREAD IS ABOUT THE AVERAGE PLAYER'S FIRST TIME PLAYTHROUGH EXPERIENCE WITH THE GAME
Horseshit
I didn't die once playing Super. I remember dying few times in Fusion.
In Dread I have died multiples times. It is not NES tier in terms of difficulty though.
>The bosses in Super are roughly on par with those in Dread in terms of difficulty
LOL
Game felt nice to play and every death seemed fair, since gameplay encourages you to find enemy patterns. The overworld is not overwhelming with teleports in crucial points of the map. Final boss was worth it’s difficulty free aiming is crucial and you’ve got to counter. Favorite game playing this year
Does anyone have the end screens/archive artwork in ultra-res quality? Google isn't helping out
>It's easier than fricking Super Metroid
No, it isn't. Stop being silly.
Game is pretty hard if you have shitty controller with 20% deadzone
luckily i had a spare controller
Zoomers ruin everything.
Counter/parrying is shit and needs to go, QTE's have no place in Metroid and it reduces all the enemies into "wait and counter when it attacks so it dies in 1 hit" since if you don't a lot of the enemies, especially late game, take ridiculous amounts of damage to kill.
Waiting is a "you" problem, not one with the game.
Nah it's shit game design. Imagine if you took Dark Souls and made it so every enemy had triple health unless you parry them which kills them instantly. It's reductive, repetitive, unengaging and slows the game down. None of the other Metroid games pulled this shit because they were designed by people who knew what they were doing.
Just trannimal crossing twitter zoomies
I beat Yakuza and Nightmare and I am so useless at old school 2D games I'm fully capable of getting a game over by 1-2 in the original Mario so I assume classic Metroid was always really fricking easy unless you're speedrunning and have no power ups.
