I don't think the nip melodrama translates to English very well but the voice actors in latest FF did really good with some incredibly cheesy material, so I don't think there's really any excuse anymore. It's just sad that writing and direction in games never improved and, if anything, is getting worse. They should have just stuck with a minimalist story if this was the best they could do. Some moments were nice, at least, usually ones where Ganon was on screen.
Yeah, I remember how that scene was shown in one of the first trailers and everyone mocked the english VA because of how lacking of emotion it was compared to every other language. I mean, it's the scene after the entire castle is destroyed, her father is killed, her friends die inside the divine beasts and hundreds are murdered by the guardians yet the VA couldn't even be bothered to pretend she was sad.
