I think many people just couldn't appreciate the mountaintop because of burn out, the area has some decent dungeons and mogh is still goated
I hated it moreso because it was just a massive waste of potential in terms of level design. You hear of a place called the Mountaintops of the Giants and think it's gonna be some perilous area that will have you thinking more about the terrain than the combat. This was just them poorly communicating the 2nd phase, you were supposed to hit his hands as he takes double damage on them.
This is the first Giant in these that has lived up to my expectations of fighting a giant. He is fricking massive and doesn't look like some abstract faceless golem. It's like From is obsessed with putting giants in their games, but they're afraid to commit to the concept of "what if man but huge" because it's inherently kind of goofy.
It still suffers from the usual problem of hugging ankles and being so close that you can never actually see the thing you're fighting against, though.
>It still suffers from the usual problem of hugging ankles and being so close that you can never actually see the thing you're fighting against, though.
The real issue here is that if you don't do this, you're just building the window-dressing for a gimmick fight, or there's no reason for it to be literally a giant. If there was some kind of Dragon's Dogma-esque system built around climbing bosses and hitting them, it might be easier to translate that into a better fight in the same vein as the rest, but it's not built around that, and thus cannot generate the same degree of intensity.
>because it's inherently kind of goofy.
Its not goofy, its just impossibly complicated to work normally, ike i said
Rykard was fine because they gave us a big frick you range weapon. Placi is fun because (or despite?) of how slow it is.
Problem is when a thing gets too big it just becomes unfeasible to create a normal fun fight against it, it just needs some gimmick to make it work.
We had ceaseless discharge and dragon god as "giant fire enemies" and they both try a gimmick to make it work. When it becomes too big you have to do a gimmick.

Eh, i've seen the footage of climbing and while its visually more engaging than pedicure i doesnt seem that more mechanically interesting, no offense of course, DD seems like a fun game overall. Do they still play up the darkness/night aspect like during the first game early showings?
>i doesnt seem that more mechanically interesting
It's just fun to climb up a monster to hit it's weakpoint
Any boss bigger than x4 the player size inevitably ends up just being boring unreadable visual noise.
If an enemy doesn't fit on the screen when I swing my sword at it should not exist.
MonHun does it just fine, it's an issue with how a game is designed as a base.
I -could- say it's because FROM makes explorative games and can't focus on single fights as much as MH... But DD pulls of giant boss fights too.
FROM ankle-snipping is just tired now >darkness/night aspect
I haven't actually played DD2 yet, just beat DDDA a decade ago
fighting big enemies is just a pain in general
it works in monhun because the whole game is basically a battle of attrition and endurance, like, you're purposelly putting yourself in a bothersome situation
plus most monsters move like they're spastic so their head is lowered and level with the player
Any boss bigger than x4 the player size inevitably ends up just being boring unreadable visual noise.
If an enemy doesn't fit on the screen when I swing my sword at it should not exist.
comet azur/meteorite of astel, envoy's longhorn, mohg's spear/marais/rob, black flame tornado
literally just brute force it with shard spiral/pest threads or % damage the fricker
what annoys me the most about the fight is how loud the music is
>lose patience in my STR/FTH run and jump to rykard >realize that you can literally stunlock the second phase to death with the serpent hunter's WA
I'll keep that in mind for future runs so I can gold scarab him, welp I wasn't expecting that to go so easily
How the frick are you supposed to use the godslayer greatsword's WA by the way, that damn thing takes forever to charge and the black fire DoT only hits for a second
all bf spells and aows kinda suck because you can usually output far bigger numbers with status or select gear
with the godslayer gs you basically smack them around and use the wa when there's a huge opening, spamming it is not very good
>Make a boss in an arena that you think would encourage the use of torrent >Boss actively reads any attempt to use him and punishes
I don't even know why the horse is there tbqh. It gets worse with elden beast since the arena is equally big but you can't even summon torrent but otherwise this is maybe the worst boss concept in the game
It's always fun seeing the bosses people hate in souls games, they're almost never the same ones I hate.
For Elden Ring the only boss in the entire game that I fricking hate is the godskin duo
I beat him on my second attempt and thought the fight was shit.
All you do is attack his legs and dodge every now and then, I'm not sure how that was fantastic from a gameplay perspective.
I'm playing this for the first time and in my 80 hours I have not been invaded or even seen a summon sign from a player once. Why does no one want to play with me?
Sometime i feel like im a 200iq genius because the people i saw b***hing about this dude and other bosses makes me think i live in a world of moronic Black folk
NOOOO YOU CHEATED YOURSELF AND THE GAME >t. Black folk that overlevel the frick of every single challenge in the game and waste hours just grinding mats and farming souls

Hes 90% of the posts in a thread. >anon points him out >thread friends to a halt because he panics >he only comes back if people start insulting him >uses his posts to call himself based
why is this game not balanced at all?
hit and run tactics on your horse or spamming projectiles from afar will get you through 98% of the fights.
you don't even have to engage with your enemies, why is the design so shit?
>choose to not do mechanics
NTA but does it only count as engaging in a fight if you get in their faces?
Anon's just going magic mongolian on their asses, not his fault the game can't cope with it.
anon the defining thing about a good boss fight is the boss can not be cheesed easily and can deal with basically anything you can do.
it was the devs who put horse combat and magic spam in the game. but they didn't program the enemies to be able to deal with it.
The only bosses I didn't enjoy in the entire game were ulcerated tree spirits and elden beast
The rest were great and I wish there was a rechallenge option like Sekiro has.
I've beaten him with ash summons, Alexander and solo and I still hold the belief that this boss is a mistake. Truly a low point on the journey. How do you get Rykard so perfectly with a dedicated monster slayer weapon and then ignore the aspect that made that fight so good with fire giant? Boy I sure can't wait to see jack and shit while I whale on his leg instead of marvel at his size as I dodge his attempts to flatten me.
When I first beat the game, I died more to him than I did to the Godskins, Gurranq/Maliketh, Mohg, Godfrey/Hoarah Loux, and Radagon/Elden Beast combined. The same thing happened during my most recent playthrough. For some reason this fricker just filters the hell out of me.
I remembered hearing all kinds of shit about this dude, that you needed torrent to fight him, that he was bullshit and ruined the game, etc etc and then i got to him and he was a bog standard big dude roll souls fight that takes like 3 attempts on average
Torrent movement is extremely helpful, and so are his charged attacks, but the game is designed for you to mount and dismount to DPS (in fact dismounting gives riposte-like iframes)
>Torrent movement is extremely helpful, and so are his charged attacks
it's not, horse is a moron trap and exists purely for moving to places where you can't teleport to
No, without Torrent, Fire Giant AOE attacks and movement would almost feel challenging, but you can actually chase him down and trivialize most of its ranged/flame pillar/slow projectile attacks thanks to Torrent
>trivialize most of its ranged/flame pillar/slow projectile attacks
you can trivialise them by not being shit
this also has a bonus of not being bogged down by a moron horse

it can mix flame of the fell god with other attacks, or throw fireballs/pillars all around him, it's not just one attack
he's probably the boss whose difficulty is most affected by your level.
if you rushed through a lot of the game and haven't levelled so much you'll struggle a frick ton but high levels clear him on few attempts.
>people keep calling fire giant a DPS check >I got by just fine smacking him with a keen zweihander with giant hunt
Am I missing something here? Does he do something different if you don't kill him in a certain amount of time?
It really is Dragons Dogma 1 vs Dark Souls again isn't it. Why does DD cause Fromsoftgays to become so insecure, you guys never acted like this with Nioh and other ACTUAL soulslikes
/v/irgins and dogmasissies hyperventilate and get an aneurysm if a boss doesn't let you sit on its head and then stagger for 20 seconds and drool in an idle animation for 5 minutes
it's because Fromsofts only gameplay is combat and when another game comes out and does combat better than you objectively, they have nothing to say. DD has an actual archery system and an actual magic system too that mogs Elden Rings. Melee combat is also better due to how much more versatile/interactive it is (environmental, vertical through climbing, grabbing/throwing enemies)
>minor dips for a month >still ran fine on about anything >after a couple patches dips are entirely gone and ER runs on absolute toasters including average Ganker pc and deck >never had shit like npc popping in in ps3 tier 2 meter range >cancer's ligma >20 fps at best on streamtard $5k pcs >won't ever be fixed because crapcum doesn't care all their slop runs like shit
have a nice day
For some reason, ER just stops working if I don't play it for a while. It will just crash. I need to do a file check for it to work again. What the frick is up with that, it's like files just keep vanishing from my pc.
I fought him fairly like every other boss on my first play through
On my current play through I just NIHILd him to death because the fight is a fricking chore
I have successfully managed to make Farum appear from everywhere in the map (except some spots in dungeons, I'll have to look into that). I sadly had to remove the central tornado because it was glitchy as hell and looked too dark. Here it is from Caelid. Do you like it?
What's a FUN weapon for a FTH/DEX build
I swear every time I try DEX I get bored and inevitably return to my trusted FTH/STR hammer routine, but I want to give it a good try this time
Traditional DEX weapons (i.e. light and fast) are trash in ER if you don't go for status buildup. Posture damage is king so heavy weapons will always be more powerful.
Guardian Swordspear is REALLY good but like other anon says it feels like a big heavy thing that happens to scale off DEX.
That thing with Giants Hunt is good enough to do a whole build off of though. Easily top 10 weapon in the game while being a basic drop.
What's a FUN weapon for a FTH/DEX build

Wait, so people aren't memeing when they complain about that boss being hard? But the boss fight is just >punch his leg until it breaks and second phase starts >get to legs again and punch until death while he can do nothing about it >only occasional move a tiny bit away in case of fire
If the complaint is that the boss fight is a bit shit because you are just slashing ankles until the fight is over I agree.
"We need a dps check boss"
I have no issues just Square Off'ing him to death with the standard longsword
I'm doing a Square off run right now. It's also a Strength only run. This Weapon skill is OP as frick.
square off fricking owns, I "discovered" it in my first play through and spammed it since
weapon arts are moronic tbh
>I'm too good for summons or an actual good aow
>the post
at that point just spam lion's claw
Square off is cheaper
already did that run.
>Dark Souls 3 had multiple greatswords with square off (or whatever the frick it was called in that game
>can only put it on straight swords in Elden Ring
But why?
Tons of Weapon Arts in DaS3 feel subpar in ER like Stamp (Sweep).
At such point why don't they just implement a parry system like in Sekiro?
Square off is so bad in dark souls 3
But it's literally the opposite of a dps check
Boss takes 10% damage and you have to play carefully in a war of attrition to slowly bring him down
>Zoomers just now discovered the basic sword skill since DS3

The real issue here is that if you don't do this, you're just building the window-dressing for a gimmick fight, or there's no reason for it to be literally a giant. If there was some kind of Dragon's Dogma-esque system built around climbing bosses and hitting them, it might be easier to translate that into a better fight in the same vein as the rest, but it's not built around that, and thus cannot generate the same degree of intensity.
>because it's inherently kind of goofy.
Its not goofy, its just impossibly complicated to work normally, ike i said
We had ceaseless discharge and dragon god as "giant fire enemies" and they both try a gimmick to make it work.
MonHun does it just fine, it's an issue with how a game is designed as a base.
I -could- say it's because FROM makes explorative games and can't focus on single fights as much as MH... But DD pulls of giant boss fights too.
FROM ankle-snipping is just tired now
>darkness/night aspect
I haven't actually played DD2 yet, just beat DDDA a decade ago
fighting big enemies is just a pain in general
it works in monhun because the whole game is basically a battle of attrition and endurance, like, you're purposelly putting yourself in a bothersome situation
plus most monsters move like they're spastic so their head is lowered and level with the player
That dude offers up his severed leg to his god for power in order to defeat you.
He ain't going out like a b***h, son.
Any boss bigger than x4 the player size inevitably ends up just being boring unreadable visual noise.
If an enemy doesn't fit on the screen when I swing my sword at it should not exist.
Even that giant baby from Lords of the Fallen is better than the Fire Giant
>finally decide to play astrologer
>it's the most fun I've ever had in a video game
He's perfectly fine, you're just bad.
literally
LITERALLY
just run up to his feet and hit them. roll when he tries to hit you. literally.
dont bother with the mount
comet azur/meteorite of astel, envoy's longhorn, mohg's spear/marais/rob, black flame tornado
literally just brute force it with shard spiral/pest threads or % damage the fricker
what annoys me the most about the fight is how loud the music is
i thought this boss was cool as frick first time I fought him. homie rips off his own frickin leg for a chance to kill you.
>lose patience in my STR/FTH run and jump to rykard
>realize that you can literally stunlock the second phase to death with the serpent hunter's WA
I'll keep that in mind for future runs so I can gold scarab him, welp I wasn't expecting that to go so easily
How the frick are you supposed to use the godslayer greatsword's WA by the way, that damn thing takes forever to charge and the black fire DoT only hits for a second
all bf spells and aows kinda suck because you can usually output far bigger numbers with status or select gear
with the godslayer gs you basically smack them around and use the wa when there's a huge opening, spamming it is not very good
>Make a boss in an arena that you think would encourage the use of torrent
>Boss actively reads any attempt to use him and punishes
I don't even know why the horse is there tbqh. It gets worse with elden beast since the arena is equally big but you can't even summon torrent but otherwise this is maybe the worst boss concept in the game
It's always fun seeing the bosses people hate in souls games, they're almost never the same ones I hate.
For Elden Ring the only boss in the entire game that I fricking hate is the godskin duo
He has the same problem as the ancient dragons where you just mindlessly swing at their undersides while their attacks happen off screen.
fantastic boss that filtered shitters
I beat him on my second attempt and thought the fight was shit.
All you do is attack his legs and dodge every now and then, I'm not sure how that was fantastic from a gameplay perspective.
>a bunch of vtubers are better at the game than most of nu-/v/
Comical. Humorous even.
>vtubers aren't supposed to know how to play games... because
I'm just laughing exactly cause many here would think that they wouldn't be, maybe even the same that whine and complain about bosses being bullshit.
I don't hate them because they're assumedly bad at vidya, I hate them because they're lying attention prostitutes.
I'm playing this for the first time and in my 80 hours I have not been invaded or even seen a summon sign from a player once. Why does no one want to play with me?
you have to summon someone or use an item to be invaded, and you can only see summon signs if you use an item
Drop down the balcony in the Roundtable and kill the invading NPC. Use the item you get to allow invasions.
Use Finger for summon signs.
I think you need to use a consumable to see summon signs, also only coopers get invaded unless you use taunter’s tongue.
>HAHAHA DISABRED GIANT
Sometime i feel like im a 200iq genius because the people i saw b***hing about this dude and other bosses makes me think i live in a world of moronic Black folk
I beat him on my second try. I didn't even know people had a problem with it, the horse made it piss easy to dodge
Anybody else suffering from constants crashing and freezing, any solutions to it?
play on console :^)
kys schizo
This but Demon of Hatred from Sekiro.
Fricking Miyahacky, I never bothered with ER btw
/v/irgins and dogmasissies hyperventilate and get an aneurysm if a boss doesn't let you sit on its head and then stagger for 20 seconds and drool in an idle animation for 5 minutes
>that pitiful FP bar
what the frick are you doing?
leveling only vig and str like average moronic soulsperm
Black person you do not need that much fricking FP.
zased
Here he is getting banned on steam and advertising it on Ganker. This is from the BG3 threads.
>thread immediately dies
Dragonirian samegays hard
Hes in the bg3 thread trying to talk about himself lol
Holy fricking based.
>Webm troon plays baldur's gate 3
The guy really is fricked from the molestation
Explains why he spends all his time invading and dying. Hes reenacting his molestation virtually.
Imagine your socials getting banned every time you try bragging on Ganker lol.
Hes 90% of the posts in a thread.
>anon points him out
>thread friends to a halt because he panics
>he only comes back if people start insulting him
>uses his posts to call himself based
You mean like a fricking RPG and not a Devil May Cry clone?
no, like boring shit
>use dagger
>blackflame buff thing
>r1 him to death
gaming.
>fell god fell from the sky
huh
He literally got slain by Marika according to the stone face shield.
bro's made of faces on faces wtf
He's really cool if you play ranged class. If you play melee he's boring. Kinda like dragons.
Both Fire Giant and Dragins are great for melee classes as long as you understand when to keep your spacing and when to move around and under the boss
I wish pyro incantations were stronger. I only ended up using the big ball one.
why is this game not balanced at all?
hit and run tactics on your horse or spamming projectiles from afar will get you through 98% of the fights.
you don't even have to engage with your enemies, why is the design so shit?
>choose to not do mechanics
>waaaaah why is the design so shit
I hope you realize that you are moronic.
>choose to not do mechanics
NTA but does it only count as engaging in a fight if you get in their faces?
Anon's just going magic mongolian on their asses, not his fault the game can't cope with it.
The game gives you tons of options to play. Its not Elden rings fault that the moron chose to play like a moron and ignore the fun parts of the game.
anon the defining thing about a good boss fight is the boss can not be cheesed easily and can deal with basically anything you can do.
it was the devs who put horse combat and magic spam in the game. but they didn't program the enemies to be able to deal with it.
WHAT THE FRICK WERE THEY THINKING?!!!
Exploitable monke
The only bosses I didn't enjoy in the entire game were ulcerated tree spirits and elden beast
The rest were great and I wish there was a rechallenge option like Sekiro has.
This fricker is absolutely massive, that lic really doesn't do him justice
I like fire giant because it's piss easy if you're not moronic and since most of the playerbase is beyond moronic you can always get summoned there
I remembered hearing all kinds of shit about this dude, that you needed torrent to fight him, that he was bullshit and ruined the game, etc etc and then i got to him and he was a bog standard big dude roll souls fight that takes like 3 attempts on average
everyone who gives an advice to do any horse fighting ever is a complete mouthbreather
Is every single big boss fight a foot massage simulator?
>WHAT THE FRICK WERE THEY THINKING?
Mmmh, I love feet. Yummy feet so good, nom nom nom.
>t. Miyazaki
Yes, see above
>trivialize most of its ranged/flame pillar/slow projectile attacks
you can trivialise them by not being shit
this also has a bonus of not being bogged down by a moron horse
It doesn't take that long to get on or off of torrent.
Feel free to post your own webm showing how you deal with Fire Giant phase 1 without using Torrent. I'm sure it can be done, but it would take much longer than using a tool specifically made to boost movement
run towards it
roll the wave
run towards the leg and dps it with whatever
wow it was hard
it can mix flame of the fell god with other attacks, or throw fireballs/pillars all around him, it's not just one attack
It annoys me that you don't use the cool heh ash of war on that weapon.
he's probably the boss whose difficulty is most affected by your level.
if you rushed through a lot of the game and haven't levelled so much you'll struggle a frick ton but high levels clear him on few attempts.
i did him at low level pretty easily but i did bring a (single) katana
>people keep calling fire giant a DPS check
>I got by just fine smacking him with a keen zweihander with giant hunt
Am I missing something here? Does he do something different if you don't kill him in a certain amount of time?
no, soulsperms keep getting hit so for them it's a dps check of doing enough damage before shitter flasks run out
what are some good sets that work with the greathelm?
Gelmir knight (really most of the knight sets, I just prefer gelmir due to its coloration), vagabond.=, scaled kinda works with it too
I used this with Confessor chest and I forgot what else. Works good for a paladin type thing.
I use this with the Ronin Chest piece, Blaidd gauntlets and scaled Armor legs.
Most of the lordsworn soldier sets. Use with raya Lucarian soldier hands and boots and a soldier chestpiece of your choice.
The intended sets are blue/eye surcoat with chainmail but there's probably others that work.
>Brings up Dragons Dogma 2 for no reason
It really is Dragons Dogma 1 vs Dark Souls again isn't it. Why does DD cause Fromsoftgays to become so insecure, you guys never acted like this with Nioh and other ACTUAL soulslikes
meant for
it's because Fromsofts only gameplay is combat and when another game comes out and does combat better than you objectively, they have nothing to say. DD has an actual archery system and an actual magic system too that mogs Elden Rings. Melee combat is also better due to how much more versatile/interactive it is (environmental, vertical through climbing, grabbing/throwing enemies)
>DD has
it has fps issues, ps3 tier pop-in, one savefile for your whole life and trannies, crapcum shill
you described Elden Ring.
Remember when a 1080TI was getting dips when it first released? I remember because I had one. Your game is dogshit compared to kino Dogma
Elden Ring doesn't have Pop-In or fps issues, and you can have multiple save files. Are you moronic or trolling?
It actually has major pop-in in places like Liurnia
nobody as bad as ligma
fricking xenoblade has less pop in
some vegetation appearing very close isn't the same as animals, npcs and even enemies popping in your face
It does have FPS issues. The bellum highway/upper Liurnia zone falls below 60 very often, and I have a 3070.
>minor dips for a month
>still ran fine on about anything
>after a couple patches dips are entirely gone and ER runs on absolute toasters including average Ganker pc and deck
>never had shit like npc popping in in ps3 tier 2 meter range
>cancer's ligma
>20 fps at best on streamtard $5k pcs
>won't ever be fixed because crapcum doesn't care all their slop runs like shit
have a nice day
More like troony’s goblin homie you have like 3 enemies
I had a BLAST with it anyways.
For some reason, ER just stops working if I don't play it for a while. It will just crash. I need to do a file check for it to work again. What the frick is up with that, it's like files just keep vanishing from my pc.
Just beat him first try without summons or Alexander. You're just shit if you think he's hard
I fought him fairly like every other boss on my first play through
On my current play through I just NIHILd him to death because the fight is a fricking chore
I just wish his HP bar during his second phase was visually larger. I could hardly see if I damaged him or not the first time I fought him.
I have successfully managed to make Farum appear from everywhere in the map (except some spots in dungeons, I'll have to look into that). I sadly had to remove the central tornado because it was glitchy as hell and looked too dark. Here it is from Caelid. Do you like it?
I know it's the correct placement but it still looks closer than it should be.
Spammed Golden Vow-boosted Ancient Death Rancor and had my summon and Alexander distract him. Worked pretty well and got him down on my third try.
That's the impression I got, which is a bit sad
Maybe I'll just do Vyke's spear or try Siluria's Tree for a change
How about Bolt of Gransax?
flame art erdsteel dagger
Halo Scythe. Good luck getting one to drop though
>Just found out there's an enemy holding a chest that you can kill for a frickton of runes
Fricking hell this game has a tons of obscure shit
Guardian Swordspear is REALLY good but like other anon says it feels like a big heavy thing that happens to scale off DEX.
That thing with Giants Hunt is good enough to do a whole build off of though. Easily top 10 weapon in the game while being a basic drop.
Meant for
sorry.
Anyone have an extra Millicent's Prosthesis in pc?
>ankle slashing simulator
what a fricking disaster
crazy to think SoTC did better giant bosses on the ps2
Wait, so people aren't memeing when they complain about that boss being hard? But the boss fight is just
>punch his leg until it breaks and second phase starts
>get to legs again and punch until death while he can do nothing about it
>only occasional move a tiny bit away in case of fire
If the complaint is that the boss fight is a bit shit because you are just slashing ankles until the fight is over I agree.
