it's not that good as a metroidvania but it looks really unique and the combat is cool
being flawed but unique is better than being average and generic
I'm saying HK's game world is frickhuge. A lot of time you might feel the passages are pointlessly serpentine or that you've traveled for a long time before reaching something important. But the game reeks of atmosphere, if you even get a LITTLE BIT invested you'll feel like you're exploring this cool place.
its really just braindead Ganker contrarianism
Either that or fans of a few metroid-likes that are eternally assblasted because HK gets all the spotlight while their prefered games get ignored
HK is so universally aclaimed and noticed for a reason, theres a reason it reaches mainstream level on a genre where otherwise people dont care as much >far better interconnection and maze-like world in the game, with route variety so two people's first playthroughs can be significantly different >mid-lategame bosses are far more dynamic and fluid than the standard for the genre >some very great aesthetics and attention to detail >more bosses than nearly any other game in the genre (For a reason) >generally very huge size while keeping quality consistent, very well crafted lore woven into both text and environmental storytelling, yet its never vague but instead concrete and concise
the only part of the game that one might dislike is the beginning. usually the aesthetic (And the fact that other metroid-likes often start just as, if not more bland) will keep it up though. It starts slow and tutorial-like with very easy challenges & only one way to go, but suddenly the game opens up and all the challenges get so much more interesting. You will always have a lot of possible places to go and about 4/5 of them will hold some extremely good reward that lets you reach more places or more content
whats bad about it?
the only annoying part is compass costing a charm slot, but its tolerable
the only thing that gets in the way of exploration is that new areas of the map only fill when you rest at a bench, but if youre unable to pay attention to the paths youve been through and how they might connect with eachother or other nearby paths, thats just your brain's fault
Guacamelee 1 was amazing. 2 improves on the combat but is also filled filled with worthless padding gauntlet rooms and shit puzzles.

They are "from mexico", that way they don't get deported all the way back to the bottom, you should see our bus stations they are filled with a different kind of dindus
While a lot are from Mexico, most of them come from either central or south America, since Mexico doesn't deport them and gives them asylum at the border cities, so they just use it as a checkpoint to try it again for whenever they get caught by La Migra and get sent back.
we literally put them in metal boxes and then deport them but they just keep coming, some cities are unironically overrun by migrants, in my city they all live in the local trains while the locals give them food and clothes instead of giving them the boot.

Gotta love that every time Californians try to virtue signal on behalf of Mexicans, they fail horribly
both kings from tekken are the singular good representations of mexicans in media because they aren't filthy and disgusting.
that is to say that they aren't accurate, but are easily the most likable of any mexican character in gaming.
i hate mexicans.
Guacamelee STCE and its sequel did really well , a fun metroidvania, good secrets (ie the"good endings" required challenge mode level stuff that was pretty significant and the expansions were worthwhile), and the battle system was great not to mention supporting co-op all the way through for 2 ( Guac1 STCE) or 4 (Guac 2 ) players. Even the memes of the day are fun to look back upon.
As far as other games with Latino settings or characters (outside of like... El Fuerte in SF4, King/Armor King from Tekken, Mortal Kombat Khotal Khan and other designs inspired by mesoamerican godsor myths, or other fighting games with a Latino character etc >Pato Box
Developed by a mexican, one of the best punch-out alikes + platforming/adventure >Aztez
Aztec battle arena strategy. Bloody and well made. You fight not only other Aztecs and control city states for resources but the Conquistadors show up at a certain point who all fight entirely differently and you can either try to fight them at once to push them back, or you can let them frick with your enemies but they also expand their territory and may be too strong for you to take down if they do that. >Abyss Odyssey

this game was the worst metroidvania I ever played

Whoops meant to post this in the Hollow Knight thread
kek I didn't actually play hollow knight, is it really that bad?
Hollow Knight's only crime is that it stretches the points of interest too thin, but if you like the sense of exploration you might not mind.
what do you mean? are you talking about something like this poster ?

Godhome's kind of lame and the Abyss is undercooked, but overall it's fun and that anon is a gay.

it has a bad map system
that makes exploring annoying by design
whats bad about it?

Then you haven't played much, because this game is ok. Not amazing, but not bad either.
certainly not guacamelee
The better question is who cares?
Yo is this homie OP seriously gonna shit on Guacamelee?

Mexico =/ Latin America
Latin America needs to be nuked , stupid brown and poor immigrants
but most brown immigrants are from mexico, not the rest of latin america, I don't get what you mean with this.

>get a checkpoint in mexico so you can go further up
sounds videogames enough to me
Mexico isn't anywhere near culturally irrelevant to warrant a hero.
I heard the game is good but I literally don't know a thing about the protagonist except that he's Mexican

And I love how latinx are completely powerless to stop it.
We can always cross our fingers that Russia glasses the west coast. Then the world can finally heal.

King's story is literally based on Fray Tormenta, a real life person that actually became a luchador to save an orphanage.
hes based on a japanese wrestler iirc
His mask is based on Tiger Mask, yeah, but his backstory is based on Fray Tormenta.
>he doesn't know king was actually inspired by nacho libre
I mean, even if true, inspired by something inspired by the original story technically means it was still inspired by it.
>hispangloid thread

Any DBZ one.

wat?
why would they google shit in english?
Why aren’t there any games where you play as Santo? I just found out recently he’s like Superman down there.
artstyle and combat were my favorite aspects, I wish there were good Mucha Lucha or El Tigre games.
