It's always funny when these threads get made and the same UHHHHH AKSHUALLY semantics crowd comes out to correct people. No one gives a frick. I specifically interchange "play" and "read" in reference to VNs just to upset little babies like you. It makes no difference. You completely understand that both words mean the same thing in this context. Get over it, go play a VN instead of being a little b***h since apparently you have mastery over the English language and can enjoy a written story, then post about it here.
Absolutely fricking not.
Tsuneki's route needs no explanation
The other two "decent" routes just feel fricking weird and uncomfortable, even when it's a lot more traditional in its romance. The artist being forced to write the scenario really shows.
What's wrong with making a Omnibus show? Guess I should finally watch Photokano (but that one seems to have such a slow pace that I started and interrupted it twice) and that one with the incest whose name escapes me.

My guy, that shit is lightning fast. Each girl gets like an episode and a half at most and it's a 12 episode series with tons of girls >What's wrong with making an omnibus show?
There isn't but Amagami is the gold standard and Seiren is multiple pegs below it. You want some satisfying rom-com writing but Seiren just comes off as weirdly fetishistic and not even in a good way like Amagami was.

outside of manga, with Anime it feels hard to find straightforward anime that doesn't either ask you to buy the manga or ends it all in the end.
I mean when I look at Amagami it feels like watching people who start as friend and become a couple while other times there is this alienation, this divide between two who will confess at the very end but until then they live with a self imposed wall between each other.
>Finished Fata Morgana as my first VN. It was amazing and my favorite game. >Currently starting Umineko as it was on sale >Its very calm and cozy so far
>has only read 2 VNs >pick the literal troony ones
Why do you moronera clowns insist on coming here instead of 41% yourselves on some public place where you can finally get the attention you crave?
Umi is just a test.
You either fall to your knees and worship illusion.
Or rise to the challenge and become the contrarian truth seeker, scourge of the demiurge.
Do not fear the question itself.
Fata Morgana is still, literally, no contrarianism or faking it for attention, the single worst VN I have read. If VNs count as games, then it's also in my bottom 5 of games. Its writing is irredeemable trash. The music was good though.
one of the worst parts about being fat that I don't see a lot of people talking about is that your pants always keep falling down. I can't even walk from my car to the front of the store without having to keep pulling my pants down as they keep trying to slowly slide off of me. suspenders are definitely a must as a fat guy
I only ever played Katawa Shoujo when it came out. I went with the adorable blind girl route. I tried playing it again to go with another gril but I couldn't find it in myself to ignore blindie.
I just read this EVN called South Scrimshaw after an anon linked it from the speculative evolution thread on Ganker. It's like a fictional nature documentary about some whales on an alien planet. I'd recommend it to anyone who finds speculative/alien ecosystems or biology interesting.
They're samey as hell, but when they hit, they hit. I like harems, milfs, impreg, and wild sex. It delivers. Now, if they could just not have the chick fall after one frick, they'd be the best in the business.
>babby's first VN list >includes Saya no Uta
there is your answer. Have fun. It don't even take you a full day and it's absolutely worth it.
Tsukihime (and Kagetsu Tohya) are also excellent but maybe not for your first.
Read Yume Miru Kusuri next and then read Swan Song.
Add DraKoi to that list, it's very short and if you like it then you'll love Demonbane by the same author. >the melty blood VN
Read Mahoutsukai no Yoru, it's fully translated and finished unlike the Tsukihime remake that's been split into two parts. Mahoyo is also a direct prequel to it that doesn't spoil anything.
>currently bought
all muv-luv, originally bought the very first one that popped out on steam but it got deprecated and for some reason i can't redeem my code for the new one anymore
kuroinu (not even on sale wtf)
doukyusei (the remake, not the og one)
great deceiver
yu-no (the remake, not the soulful og one)
all the clannad stuff
majikoi
i walk among zombies (all of them)
baldr sky
then i went to jast usa and johren to check out more hentai stuff and bought starless, closed game, school days and shiny days plus the 18+ patches for those steam stuff
can't find the official 18+ patches for muv-luv though
>can't find the official 18+ patches for muv-luv though
they're honestly not worth it, they change almost nothing
here are literally all of the changes in the all-ages version:
one sex scene per route in Extra and Unlimited gets replaced by making out and then a fade to black
chizuru and meiya have their arms moved like an inch to cover their nipples in one scene each, and sumika's skirt covers her panties in one scene(but you still see Kei's panties like 20 times for some reason)
1 sex scene in Alternative gets replaced by making out and fade to black
All of this shit is, frankly, unimportant. You can go find the CGs on sadpanda, they're mediocre, and you can just read the dialogue in the censored version of the scene and mentally insert "PLAP PLAP GET PREGNANT" between lines and get the same effect.
There is exactly one important change, though: the twizzlers scene in Alternative. It's plot important and the censored version is fundamentally different. If you play the censored version then, when you get to the twizzlers scene, it is worth it to go find the uncensored version of the scene somewhere and watch it. Other than that, the censored version is fine.

is pretty correct. The H is all shit and hell, maybe without the moronic Twizzlers scene you might actually like bawdmika .
I will say losing the nipple suits is a net loss, though. I'm the kind of person who thinks most H is generally pretty awful in most VNs but I do like looking at anime booba.
So I played Nope Nope Nurses and despite the kinks being right up my alley it had zero choices, which frustrated me because the protagonist sucks. Any similar VNs?
it's shit
it is still THE single best example of JOP bullshitting. Kamige until translated, then we see how shit it is, then they claim it's a bad translation, they never said that, all the above; take your pick.
Other titles like this are Musicus, Muramasa (not bad but not life changing as claimed), shit like that.
nobody was filtered by this pseud VN, dogfricker. It's always funny when the kneejerk response to objectively bad media that one can't defend is to repeat 'filtered hurrrr' like a parrot

So you looked at the sex tags, not understanding that it's psychological horror and went into a moral panic?
Why are newbies like this?

said no one about VNs ever, dogfricker. I still don't read trap shit, you homosexual.

You're still hung up on the sex tags.
Do you do this with movies too? Read that there's "gay rape" in Shawshank redemption and call anyone who watches it a homosexual?
>isekai >cute and funny heroine >tale for children that turns out dark >the evil is a mad queen >the side characters are all psychos >most of the plot is literally "lol drugs" >memorable design for the main character
It's memorable for a reason
>Muramasa (not bad but not life changing as claimed)
This VN made me mad >DUDE there's no such thing as justice and might is right so I'm going to kill everything and become god >DUDE there's no such thing as justice and might is right so all killing is bad and killing a literally hitler psychopath who murders a bunch of innocent people or rapes women is just as bad as killing a child that has done absolutely nothing to anyone LMAO
I finished Ciel's nuroute, it was okay. It STILL feels like Arc's 'bad route', but they did make Ciel much more likable and sympathetic even though she gets tortured in a way that makes the OG version look weak. I'm still angry we don't get Arc's good end and have to wait for the Far Side routes in 3045 from our underground bunkers.
Currently about to fire up Rain Code. I love me some Dang it Ron Paul so I hope it's half as entertaining
It's kinda weird because the Roa in that route is exactly how I imagine the stoic man striving for eternity. I don't see how random murder sprees or what he did in France fit his personality as wanting to see how humanity ends up; it seems like that shit is antithetical to that goal.I know OG Roa is 'gone' and the new Roas are nothing but bloodlust + his drive + the host but still
A big recurring theme in Nasu's work is that true immortality is nigh impossible.
In order to avoid degradation of the soul you need the 3rd magic, which has been lost to history.
The 3rd magic has only been activated once in Fate, and that's when Illya cast it on HF shirou to save his life before she died herself.
so by definition it wouldn't be in Tsukihime unless Zelretch did some planeswalking frickery since Fate worlds have way weaker Dead Apostles and no True Ancestors iirc
It is unknown how the 3rd Magician would be able to return in Tsuki, correct. Fortunately based Narita said frick you to Nasu's timeline autism and strange Fake has both Fate and Tsuki characteristics.
Also Samurai Remnant potentially has a strange Fake character in it by virtue of Jester, a vampire and master of Assassin. We learn in Volume 5 or 6 I don't remember that his original body is actually a woman named Dorothea.
in Samurai Remnant one of the masters is named Dorothea, a mage and master of Assassin.
It's like they're trying to leave us right on the edge of a story universe.

After Gou I think leaving them all separate works in separate worlds is not the worst idea
Me either, I honestly just started it because I wanted to play as an ojisan hanging out with cute JKs on an island. It skips back into present day too for a third act. Then gets MORE confusing before it ends on a kind of big mystery tying together all kinds of threads. I still enjoyed thinking about it though.
before I go to sleep for work in the morning (3pm) I will either fiddle with playlists for work or read a visual novel
perhaps one that I started and didn't finish
perhaps I'll start yet another one
gonna grab the 2 robotics games on steam then probably replay steins;gate before the first robotics.. played chaos head Noah a few months ago, want to play the main games in the series in order
I want to play this vn so bad bros
I fell in love with the anime back when it aired and I am going through the LNs right now, but I hate knowing that they'll probably be unfinished forever. it hurts being an EOP
I think I may be twisted, I fricking hated Yukino and dropped the show at in S2 at that crappy "genuine" episode., I only watched it because 8man was fun.
I mean, all the characters were all sort of self-destructive to a degree and had issues, and some of them could potentially hurt others and all, but Yukino I found to be way less likeable than everyone else, so her popularity confuses me. Is it a "I can fix her" thing? I'd fricking kill myself if I had to spend the rest of my life with her.
Didn’t really like Yukino either, but I was glad that she won because she’s the one 8man really enjoyed being with. The characters in the show are generally not people you’d want to interact with in real life. Just don’t self insert.
You are not crazy and right about Yucky-no
You were tricked by the usual horse race betting jovial atmosphere of harem show threads on Ganker, plus add in 8man's unique appeal among harem protags.
>I fricking hated Yukino
I love romance manga / anime and I despised it because it was more a drama than anything else. Every single relationship that is built up is done so to create drama at the expense of someone else. It was fricking exhausting to get through.

"genuine" ruined oregairu and nothing will ever change my mind about it, I don't give a shit if "that was the point".
should i finish up baldr sky (only did rain route but she seems like the best girl but her ntr scene was disappointing and I know the true heroine is sora but i like aki and rain more so far so I'm not too excited to finish off this route)
or play clannad
yeah but like im a kyou and tomoyo gay so.....
i've went through the VN for two routes (tomoyo and I forgot her name but i got cat NTR'd). also still kinda pissed off about the cat NTR. anyone have a save that finishes that route and that route only? holy frick how the frick did I get NTR'd by a fricking cat. I swear to motherfricking god I'll read her rape doujin again
Absolutely awful opinion, I don't even know where you're coming from with this.

All the Key Visual Novels are vastly better in their original form, Clannad included. The only exception might be Angel Beats, and only because it was never and will never be finished.
If you're a Kyougay (good taste) it's definitely worth it because there's a lot more scenes with her in there, even outside of her actual route (which sadly has a lot of focus on another character).
I haven't regretted spending 25 dollars on it. It's pretty long (I'm at 45 hours and I'm a fast reader) but the different routes are all varied enough that the content is distinct, and the games are unique. 4 per route * 16 routes.
depends on how much of a schizo otaku you are, since most VN are deeply tied to otaku subculture
I'd say stuff from the sciadv series tends to be fine for beginners (Steins;Gate and the like) but you should keep an open mind
aside from that, obviously, trying anything that catches your eye no matter how dumb the reason isn't a bad way to go at it, even if you'll feel lost in the beginning
one of my first VN was The Silver Case and it's what made me go deeper into the medium, and I doubt anyone would recommend that to a new guy. basically, do research and try stuff out

Karakara in japanese. After that one of these:

-Nekopara vol 0 and/or 2
- Nonary games
- Ai The somnium files
- Zero Time Dilemma
- Replay Umineko
Is Summer Pockets worth reading?
I've liked all the older Key stuff, but opinions seem to be mixed on that one, and it has a different author I believe.
>Is Summer Pockets worth reading?
Eh it's okay, the mixed opinions are representative of the vn itself. It's not bad but it's not great, there are certainly worse visual novels you could be reading. If you still believe in the "key vns are exceptional" meme you'll be seriously disappointed.
literally the most soulless key novel to date
It has a different author AND artist, and also discarded some of the company's staple design choices. I couldn't bring myself to finish it personally.
Damn, that's kind of what I expected, but it's still depressing to hear. I've been gradually going through all the Key stuff for years, and have come to the end. I've got no idea what to fill that gap with now.
I'm actually pretty happy to see reasonable human opinions. I used to post on /vn/ and have since the board split but I do so less and less as time goes by. When the translation came out, I thought I was taking crazy pills because those frickers were jerking it off hard.
It's nowhere near ANY other Keyge. It feels like it was written by 7 different people who didn't talk to each other at all during development. None of the fricking stories have anything to do with the true route and reveal nothing about anything (except the one chick I already forgot and the existence of the butterflies).

I don't know how to feel about Air. It had a fun cast, great atmosphere and great music but the plot is so fricking stupid. I understand that I'm missing some japanese connotation or some hogwash homosexual who huffs farts jerks over the metaphysics of it but that last arc was so fricking STUPID.
how come people huff farts over this VN's writing but then when the guy makes the same twist in an anime people fricking make him suicidal.
It wasn't bad though, there was some really corny dialogue but I did tear up a little when the moment did happen. but lmao "BUT THIS IS THE START LINE"
What was so stupid about it? I was half expecting the magic bullshit to just fix everything in the end like Clannad. Having it just give him once more chance to help her, and having her actually fricking die as the final victim of the curse seemed kind of ballsy. Overall I liked it.
I still cannot take BRO I TURNED MYSELF INTO A CROW!!!!!!!! LOOK IM A CROW!!!! seriously. That and the "timejump" literally added NOTHING to the plot rather than just give more characterization to Misuzu who's been sorta a non-character until then. The last bit where they completely phase MC out of existence is just fricking weird. Just felt like it could've been made a little better. It reminded me a lot of Mai's route writing where nothing happens and then OOOoooOOOo metaphorical shit and then sudden tragedy just for the sake of it.
Fair enough. To be honest I had been spoiled a little bit about the crow thing before reading, so I was sort of wondering where/when/why that would happen all the way through. Maybe that's why it didn't seem so out of the blue, I just rolled with it. Speaking of Mai, I didn't even really get that ending, so maybe I'm just moronic. Did she die in the end? I'm still not fricking sure.
Mai's ending is open ended. You can think of it as either ways. idk though that was my least favorite route. makotogay through and throughout (and idk why but people are making lots of hentai with her now so im winning in life)
I guess some people refuse to read 'dated' VNs or play old games for being 'clanky', but it obviously wasn't an issue for the otaku of it's time. It just boils down to personal taste.
good thing the writing and story are also as terrible to match! I mean, one of the climaxes of your VN is literally Home Alone on a mountain vs special forces soldiers.
The fan base deserved Gou and deserved to have feces placed on their chests gently.
But he's right, and they literally defeat a group of Special Ops soldiers with bucket traps and holes in the ground and log traps like a Looney Tunes cartoon
I'm playing through World End Syndrome at a glacial pace. The Saya route was fine but left too many questions unanswered. Going to try for Amana or Maimi next. The game itself is alright, but I can mostly say that just because I like the artwork and some of the characters. Story's leaving a bit to be desired right now. Saya is a qt, though.
>starts off as a smart, satirical, funny parody critiquing shitty generic high school romcom anime >eventually becomes a shitty generic high school romcom anime
So which one of these VN that I haven't finished should I start reading again, Kanon or Snow? I think I went with the chuuni girl in Kanon, have any of you read it? which one do you prefer?
I don't know about Snow, but it seems like Snow was better in terms of atmosphere and writing compared to Kanon. Kanon really feels like a prototype of the 'Key formula'
If by "chuuni girl" you mean Mai, that's the worst route in Kanon. The others are quite a bit better. I wish Sayori got a real route instead.
No idea about Snow, though.
I don't know...I don't want to do the main girl because I feel as if her route is the last one you should do, is the Asuka clone girl that constantly lies route good? I really want to get into late 90's early 00's moe, but I don't know, I don't really like how Key implements routes into their VNs, I guess other studios copied their system back then.
Makoto's route fricked me up, I rate it really highly, but that's probably mostly because I happened to relate it to some stuff I went through in real life. I don't know what the consensus opinion on it is. At least one other anon in this thread is a Makotogay though, so that's a good sign maybe.
Also you can do the "main" girl's route first in Kanon with no issue if you want, it doesn't make much difference at all. It doesn't really have a true route like other Key VNs. The real problem with the routes in Kanon is that every girl has a horrible fate if you don't pick them, so the fricking guilt trip gets worse and worse the more routes you do.
Not really makotogay but I feel like her route is basically accidentally good and brilliant. I mean, it is just quite rare when old visual novels actually give a good background for a 'mischief moronic girl' character and not solely for the purpose of """moe"""

Guess I should pick Kanon back up, also, was there a route for Nayuki's mother?
>Does anyone know more VN like paranormasight though?
Spirit Hunter and Spirit Hunter NG. Fair warning; they have jump scares. Don't be a pussy though. Top tier atmosphere, good spooks, and no 'it was science!' all along asspull; like Paranormasight it's all occult all the time.
oh and since I'm shilling they're on sale right now. Good time to get them since they're annoyingly full price most of the year. I love both games but telling people to buy them for 50 is a hard sell.
well no, it's not a kamige, but it's cheap and solid, and has good ass art since it's the TWEWY artist. It's worth the price and pretty good for that team's first foray into VNs. I wish SE hadn't just sent it out to die, though.
I'll just copypaste from an older 'Steam hidden gems' thread
Visual novel plugging time:
Paranormasight - VN by Square Enix that is pretty great. Set in the 80's and developed with the real life town, check out a horror and ghost story with 360 panoramic views from 40 years ago. Plus 80's women's hair cuts give me big wood.
Cho Dengeki Styker - my favorite VN of all time, worth the price (even for the all ages version because the H is just whatever and not part of the greatness of the VN), but it's not on sale at the moment so if you gotta pirate or wait for a sale, do it! The closest we will EVER get to a Super Sentai VN and a story that shits all over American super hero shit.
Spirit Hunter 1 and Spirit Hunter NG- Often goes on sale because you're not going to want to spend 50 each on these even if they're great, I get it. Wish list this shit, because these are two of my favorite horror VNs. Working in jump scares AND a spoopy atmosphere along with cute girls, cool bros, and some very mild gameplay, both games are a wild ride and there's really nothing else like them out there. Imagine Corpse Party if it were actually creepy and not made in RPG maker.
Master Magister- another expensive title that you're probably going to want to wait on a sale for, this follows a young magister administering his court alongside the Shinsengeumi in the time right before the Tokugawa fell. Part Phoenix Wright and mostly VN, this shit has one of the best fleshed out and long 'bad' endings where you help the villain. Highly recommend for a unique setting and good fun.
Bonus: Return to Shiroganasu Island . This used to be an unknown gem, but word of mouth hit it and it sold pretty damn well. It's also really great for being a one man show and thus I break the rules to put it here still because damn it, it belongs here in spirit. It's got messy art but it's a fun as frick detective and paranormal tale set on a shithole island. Features girls who need a sandwich
Master Magistrate is decent, just don't expect AA-tier levels of writing. It carries the feeling of an amateur writer's attempt at creating an engaging mystery in that vein because the details aren't quite fully polished.
I went into it looking forward to both the mystery and the romance in the main heroines' routes that open up after completing the fourth chapter.
I didn't care much for the romance in the alternate 'bad' ending as it clashed with the darker tone, but I'll admit that it had a very emotional scene at the end.
The character routes tend to go in wildly different directions, and they can either spoil or drastically improve your impression of the girl compared to how they behaved during the main story, as my ranking of the girls at the beginning of case 1 completely flipped after reading all their routes.
You can't play VNs as they're not vidya

Frick you, and nice argumentum ad hominem.
Why would you "argue" with someone so uninformed?
I don't know why I bothered replying.
Yeah why did you spout nonsense when you don't know shit. Do reflect on that.
nah it was the other guy who did that, I reprimanded him. but nice try
that's not universally true

>Finished Fata Morgana as my first VN. It was amazing and my favorite game.
>Currently starting Umineko as it was on sale
>Its very calm and cozy so far
>calm and cozy
>starts with Battler freaking the frick out on a plane and boat
>thinking fata morgana is anything but boring shit
>umineko with ps3 sprites
Tw*tter is two blocks down homosexual
yeah, the original sprite is definitely better!
Unironically a perfect example of soul vs soulless. You just can't have the sheer impact of this shit with the PS3 sprites.
Who are you quoting
>has only read 2 VNs
>pick the literal troony ones
Why do you moronera clowns insist on coming here instead of 41% yourselves on some public place where you can finally get the attention you crave?
Umi is just a test.
You either fall to your knees and worship illusion.
Or rise to the challenge and become the contrarian truth seeker, scourge of the demiurge.
Do not fear the question itself.
>Not the prequel to Fata
What a fricking moron you are
>prequel
Is that A Requiem for Innocence?
The first chapter is the only good part of Umineko.
Fata Morgana is still, literally, no contrarianism or faking it for attention, the single worst VN I have read. If VNs count as games, then it's also in my bottom 5 of games. Its writing is irredeemable trash. The music was good though.
This. It's the only thing I've ever watched/read and can't understand on any level why people like it. It genuinely baffles me.
>Fata Morgana is still, literally...the single worst VN I have read
read more than three VNs
simple as
100% true
Umineko is the best VN ever made, enjoy the ride.
You guys should play Baldr Force and Baldr Sky. They're both excellent.
I'm reading Kara no Shojo HD.
I read the original non HD version years ago. It made me unable to enjoy any VNs that aren't dark, bleak and depressing.
literally me
is that real?
How does mating press work like when youre this big? Asking for a friend
you laugh but you know that fupa is making her cum when it flops on the clit.
Moechad imposing fear to chuunigays just by his own presence.
Looks like a chad
I'll show you a FAT CHAD.
>webm
The real chad is that trampoline withstanding it all
The inertia that this tub of lard has is terrifying
>triple backflips into the club
>slaps your girls ass and invites her to mcdonalds
what do

zamn yuzuchads looks like THAT?
ABSOLUTE UNIT
one of the worst parts about being fat that I don't see a lot of people talking about is that your pants always keep falling down. I can't even walk from my car to the front of the store without having to keep pulling my pants down as they keep trying to slowly slide off of me. suspenders are definitely a must as a fat guy
Have you heard of belts my fellow fat man?
I'm too fat for belts.
use a boomerang
You can impregnate Yahallo?? Good VN. I thought that anime was bullshit. The ditzy airhead deserved to win.
you expected a harem anime that focuses more on the trap than the heroines to have a good ending?
Wait don't tell me... the trap can't win in the VN can he...
All of them.
source on these?
Any wholesome VN where I can play as an older ugly bastard who seduces, marries and breeds a cute JK?
No rape or NTR shit please.
if ugly isnt a must theres amaemi longing for you
>MC is your stereotypical young anime twink
Thats not what I was really looking for though...
Ojisan and Marshmallow is the closest yet
does the VN show more action than the anime?
pretty much namaiki JK library. There's lots of mid 30s men protagonists, but good luck finding fat ones outside rapey settings
i was going to post this but theres """rape""" and its a harem
Chii-chan from orcsoft is the closest I can think of right now.
>ugly bastard
doesn't exist outside of GENUINE or NTR stories.
But age gap romance is generally pretty cute
Steins:gate 0 because Maho is too sexy
Yui is a cuck.
I only ever played Katawa Shoujo when it came out. I went with the adorable blind girl route. I tried playing it again to go with another gril but I couldn't find it in myself to ignore blindie.
What VNs are for me?
Full Metal Daemon Muramasa
Grisaia
Is there a route for Yuimama?
I just finished Nukitashi and found it to be utterly underwhelming. I'm not even sure it comes down to the awful localization, it's just a boring vn.
b b but hentai prison is the real kamige, I promise
I will play Hentai Prison if it comes out in English but I'm keeping my expectations very low.
I just read this EVN called South Scrimshaw after an anon linked it from the speculative evolution thread on Ganker. It's like a fictional nature documentary about some whales on an alien planet. I'd recommend it to anyone who finds speculative/alien ecosystems or biology interesting.
I've been juggling Miel releases last I checked.
They're samey as hell, but when they hit, they hit. I like harems, milfs, impreg, and wild sex. It delivers. Now, if they could just not have the chick fall after one frick, they'd be the best in the business.
What does Ganker think of my babby's first VN list to try out.
>Yume Miru Kusuri
>Lovecraft meat girl
>the melty blood VN
>snoot game
Seems pretty bog standard
Add in Snow Sakura and Kana Imouto to your list too
>babby's first VN list
>includes Saya no Uta
there is your answer.
>Mahoyo
>finished
Why lie?
>currently bought
all muv-luv, originally bought the very first one that popped out on steam but it got deprecated and for some reason i can't redeem my code for the new one anymore
kuroinu (not even on sale wtf)
doukyusei (the remake, not the og one)
great deceiver
yu-no (the remake, not the soulful og one)
all the clannad stuff
majikoi
i walk among zombies (all of them)
baldr sky
then i went to jast usa and johren to check out more hentai stuff and bought starless, closed game, school days and shiny days plus the 18+ patches for those steam stuff
can't find the official 18+ patches for muv-luv though
>can't find the official 18+ patches for muv-luv though
they're honestly not worth it, they change almost nothing
here are literally all of the changes in the all-ages version:
one sex scene per route in Extra and Unlimited gets replaced by making out and then a fade to black
chizuru and meiya have their arms moved like an inch to cover their nipples in one scene each, and sumika's skirt covers her panties in one scene(but you still see Kei's panties like 20 times for some reason)
The moronic nipple suits are an essential part of the soul of Muv-Luv. It's just not the same without them.
this guy
is pretty correct. The H is all shit and hell, maybe without the moronic Twizzlers scene you might actually like bawdmika .
I will say losing the nipple suits is a net loss, though. I'm the kind of person who thinks most H is generally pretty awful in most VNs but I do like looking at anime booba.
digimon survive, just reaching the point of shudead.
wait what the frick you can impregnate yui? Based if true
>wow is that a fricking harem anime, where you can choose? wow
kek
Yahallo?
More like Yahalost
It was sad to see the autistic c**t win.
>talks to cat
My wife Yui is so cute
I hate Yuckino so much.
YuKINO YuKINOshita
man this series has a billion bonus routes and English players get like none of them
Is it worth reading III for Sharuru?
The hell is "wocky slush" supposed to be
oppai meidos
her hoho's are too fast
She reminds me of that one b***h from toloveru
Atri
And I'm starting to worry why every single random VN that I pick up has a cute robot girl in a dying world
sadly, I've realized I do not care for VNs. they are too time consuming, low budget, and manga is superior in every way.
Read Sekimeiya.
It is literally peak Ontological Mystery. Only weakness is some of the character writing
looks like flynn
I see what you mean, but Shiroya is not Flynn. Shiroya is S-tier QT
i'll give it a try
>Ganker is a yui appreciator board
pretty based tbh
>girl gets pregnant VN
>literally always a direct timeskip to her already being pregnant or after giving birth
>never the actual moment of conception
Yuibros... We won... We helped deliver Hachiman and Iroha's baby safely...

there should be something on sukebei
>visual novel

Katawa Shitjo is still not a game.
10/10 writing
>chocolate starfish
Only heard this once before.
So I played Nope Nope Nurses and despite the kinks being right up my alley it had zero choices, which frustrated me because the protagonist sucks. Any similar VNs?
should I read this?
Of course.
it's for high level weebs, not a baby's first visual novel material
If you like Lain or you enjoy schizophrenia in general.
it's shit
it is still THE single best example of JOP bullshitting. Kamige until translated, then we see how shit it is, then they claim it's a bad translation, they never said that, all the above; take your pick.
Other titles like this are Musicus, Muramasa (not bad but not life changing as claimed), shit like that.
Filtered
nobody was filtered by this pseud VN, dogfricker. It's always funny when the kneejerk response to objectively bad media that one can't defend is to repeat 'filtered hurrrr' like a parrot
So you looked at the sex tags, not understanding that it's psychological horror and went into a moral panic?
Why are newbies like this?
>a moral panic?
said no one about VNs ever, dogfricker. I still don't read trap shit, you homosexual.
t.
You're still hung up on the sex tags.
Do you do this with movies too? Read that there's "gay rape" in Shawshank redemption and call anyone who watches it a homosexual?
>alice in wonderland
what the frick is up with that shit inspiring so much schizoprhenia?
Japs love that shit, man. I dunno.
Have you read it?
It was schizo shit from the beginning, I don't know why some people seem to think of it as wholesome.
>isekai
>cute and funny heroine
>tale for children that turns out dark
>the evil is a mad queen
>the side characters are all psychos
>most of the plot is literally "lol drugs"
>memorable design for the main character
It's memorable for a reason
The author was a pedophile schizo so of course it's super popular in Japan.
>Muramasa (not bad but not life changing as claimed)
This VN made me mad
>DUDE there's no such thing as justice and might is right so I'm going to kill everything and become god
>DUDE there's no such thing as justice and might is right so all killing is bad and killing a literally hitler psychopath who murders a bunch of innocent people or rapes women is just as bad as killing a child that has done absolutely nothing to anyone LMAO
The best part of Ciel route is the broforce between Shiki and Roa by far.
>/pol/tard types a wall of text detailing his Black person fantasies

Did anyone else read Island?
I feel like I understood 40% of it.
I dropped it after the timeskip. I didn't sign up for that shit
Me either, I honestly just started it because I wanted to play as an ojisan hanging out with cute JKs on an island.
It skips back into present day too for a third act. Then gets MORE confusing before it ends on a kind of big mystery tying together all kinds of threads. I still enjoyed thinking about it though.
before I go to sleep for work in the morning (3pm) I will either fiddle with playlists for work or read a visual novel
perhaps one that I started and didn't finish
perhaps I'll start yet another one
gonna grab the 2 robotics games on steam then probably replay steins;gate before the first robotics.. played chaos head Noah a few months ago, want to play the main games in the series in order
you can skip DasH
trust me, the best part of the whole shitty VN is pic related and nothing comes of it
are you a rabbit
Unteralterbach
I want to play this vn so bad bros
I fell in love with the anime back when it aired and I am going through the LNs right now, but I hate knowing that they'll probably be unfinished forever. it hurts being an EOP
I think I may be twisted, I fricking hated Yukino and dropped the show at in S2 at that crappy "genuine" episode., I only watched it because 8man was fun.
It's genuinely horrible, so is the source material.
I guess I'm not the target audience of the franchise because I fricking hated Yukino.
think that's the point, she's not supposed to be likeable and is a very flawed person just like everyone else
"genuine" ruined oregairu and nothing will ever change my mind about it, I don't give a shit if "that was the point".
>I fricking hated Yukino
I love romance manga / anime and I despised it because it was more a drama than anything else. Every single relationship that is built up is done so to create drama at the expense of someone else. It was fricking exhausting to get through.
I enjoyed it for 8man dropping truthbombs.
should i finish up baldr sky (only did rain route but she seems like the best girl but her ntr scene was disappointing and I know the true heroine is sora but i like aki and rain more so far so I'm not too excited to finish off this route)
or play clannad
Reading clannad is a waste of time just watch the anime adaptation, it's a very rare case of anime being better than the visual novel.
yeah but like im a kyou and tomoyo gay so.....
i've went through the VN for two routes (tomoyo and I forgot her name but i got cat NTR'd). also still kinda pissed off about the cat NTR. anyone have a save that finishes that route and that route only? holy frick how the frick did I get NTR'd by a fricking cat. I swear to motherfricking god I'll read her rape doujin again
If you're a kyougay then you should definitely NOT read clannad.
wait she has her own route haha what do you mean haha
If only you knew how bad things really are.
huge makoto gay btw. i mean it can't be worse than reading air and suddenly "YOOOO I TURNED MYSELF INTO A CROW!!!"
i'm a kyougay don't tell me ;-;-;-;-;-;
I would agree but I feel like collecting the dragonballs would be utterly confusing as a concept if seen through the anime first.
>Angel beats VN
>one of the best sold games in Japan that year
>say that the english translation was halfway there
>never release it, or a sequel
But why?
robotics;notes elite, i just refused akiho in chapter 9 and turned the game off. jun is left traumatized and akiho is a femcel now. chad ending.
this doesn't make sense at first but it is a very accurate depiction
What are some imoutocore VNs?
obligatory
Why are games with pregnant sex so rare?
It's hard to write pregnancy into a high school setting.
But Abe-san would approve.
I'm going to work my way through the final true route of The Game of Fourtune.
I like that, even in the final route, I can still make a wrong choice, fricking up the narrative and reaching a bad end.
Is this any good? My first impression was it's tumblrshit but the concept at least seems interesting (especially since I love Kaiji)
I haven't regretted spending 25 dollars on it. It's pretty long (I'm at 45 hours and I'm a fast reader) but the different routes are all varied enough that the content is distinct, and the games are unique. 4 per route * 16 routes.
Excuse me. Three per route*. The first set of four games are played before any character-specific route.
I wanted to read subahibi but I heard there was some controversy surrounding the translation. Is it there actually anything wrong with it?
the vndb entry of the restoration patch explains it perfectly

I have never read/played a VN. What would you recommend for a beginner?
https://chartanon.github.io/moechart/
Just pick any from the recommended section.
Thanks, I will look around.
plot chart
https://files.catbox.moe/j3dd0n.png
Thanks.
I will keep that in mind.
depends on how much of a schizo otaku you are, since most VN are deeply tied to otaku subculture
I'd say stuff from the sciadv series tends to be fine for beginners (Steins;Gate and the like) but you should keep an open mind
aside from that, obviously, trying anything that catches your eye no matter how dumb the reason isn't a bad way to go at it, even if you'll feel lost in the beginning
one of my first VN was The Silver Case and it's what made me go deeper into the medium, and I doubt anyone would recommend that to a new guy. basically, do research and try stuff out
Is Galaxy Angel a VN?
Yeah
Karakara in japanese. After that one of these:
- Symphonic Rain
-Nekopara vol 0 and/or 2
- Nonary games
- Ai The somnium files
- Zero Time Dilemma
- Replay Umineko
I want to "play" another VN but don't want to deal with anything that's too long, especially shit where there's a bunch of routes for each character
>visual novels
>playing
>There are people with janny complex
No way
Oregairu
>Ntr route
nice
>oh no, why am I getting called out for blatantly off topic threads?
Is Summer Pockets worth reading?
I've liked all the older Key stuff, but opinions seem to be mixed on that one, and it has a different author I believe.
Summer pockets is a shitty ripoff of Clannad so if you've read that, dont bother.
It's good, but it feels like a wasted potential. I mean this VN is trying so fricking hard not to be a good VN and somehow succeeded
Just finished college kings 1 and now Im finishing danganronpa 2. At graduation exam. Before that danganronpa 1
You can think of it as either ways. idk though that was my least favorite route. makotogay through and throughout (and idk why but people are making lots of hentai with her now so im winning in life)
Whats the VN in OP?

I guess some people refuse to read 'dated' VNs or play old games for being 'clanky', but it obviously wasn't an issue for the otaku of it's time. It just boils down to personal taste.
good thing the writing and story are also as terrible to match! I mean, one of the climaxes of your VN is literally Home Alone on a mountain vs special forces soldiers.
The fan base deserved Gou and deserved to have feces placed on their chests gently.
>bait: the post
How did you enjoy Gou, Dragonknightcuck?
But he's right, and they literally defeat a group of Special Ops soldiers with bucket traps and holes in the ground and log traps like a Looney Tunes cartoon
Do the dates and times in VNs matter?
That obviously depends on the VN.
In some of them yeah but it's not a standard feature.
in some of them? Extremely
But I like always having them, it's helpful to orient yourself while navigating multiple saves
What's the next old yuzuge?
I will never forgive sekai for denying me hime sexo.
Hime bants and teasing are good too
you can't have a next old yuzuge because they're, well, old. The cutoff is december 2010.
Not with that re-release of the first 5 titles.
I'm sure nekonyan will get to these in like a decade or so, let's just be patient.
>Reboot either by winter of this year or spring of next year
>will probably be another 1-2 years before another yuzuge

I still think Muramasa is the greatest thing I've ever read in my life next to subahibi, euphoria, and blood meridian
What VN has good music?
Subahibi has a lot of good tracks.
rewrite, little busters
Kara no Shoujo 1 and 2 have very good music. Fata Morgana's also great
Everything by Leaf
終のステラ, Now I'm questioning whether it's another unusually easy-to-read Key's work or my Japanese is just not that good, so I can't read it faster?

I'm playing through World End Syndrome at a glacial pace. The Saya route was fine but left too many questions unanswered. Going to try for Amana or Maimi next. The game itself is alright, but I can mostly say that just because I like the artwork and some of the characters. Story's leaving a bit to be desired right now. Saya is a qt, though.
I thought it was pretty good overall. I would like them to try their hand at more VNs, but I'm not sure it sold well or whatever

The VNs I want to read the most aren't translated and I'm dekinai
But I know most "jp" readers on this site just use tools + mtl
Every "jp" reader uses tools and mtl not exclusively on this site
i only read the LN and VN for kawasaki
Guess I should pick Kanon back up, also, was there a route for Nayuki's mother?
>acts like a b***h entire series

So what is toneworks up to recently?
Is /vn/ really so pozzed that you need to make this thread every 2 days here? iin the designated board for shitposting?
>Is /vn/ really so pozzed that you need to make this thread every 2 days here?
yes
/vn/ is not a place to go if you wish to talk about visual novels.
beats going on /vg/
Does that VN let you frick the baby?
that's not awright
IROHA OR DEATH!
What's a good vn for the "PLAP PLAP PLAP GET PREGNANT" feel?
um
moronic unfunny memes? Definitely Nukitashi
Imo Oka
The one in which the MC and his construction worker wife are having a party at an Onsen and their coworkers try to frick her.
"Haramase no Kuni Tanetsuke Park e Youkoso!", aka "Welcome to Pussy Paradise" was released in English recently. It's short and to the point.
Zoomers get filtered by vns, don't even try
I bought Clannad yesterday but I haven't played it yet. Does anyone know more VN like paranormasight though?
>Does anyone know more VN like paranormasight though?
Spirit Hunter and Spirit Hunter NG. Fair warning; they have jump scares. Don't be a pussy though. Top tier atmosphere, good spooks, and no 'it was science!' all along asspull; like Paranormasight it's all occult all the time.
Both spirit hunter are great. Death Mark 2 can't come soon enough
>Kannon Soldier
PEAK
Thanks !! exactly what I was looking for
oh and since I'm shilling they're on sale right now. Good time to get them since they're annoyingly full price most of the year. I love both games but telling people to buy them for 50 is a hard sell.
Death Mark and NG were great. Shibito Magire can't come soon enough.
>Fair warning; they have jump scares
They were adjustable in NG at least.
>paranormasight
Is it really that good? Been thinking of getting another mystery vn, aini was a total letdown
well no, it's not a kamige, but it's cheap and solid, and has good ass art since it's the TWEWY artist. It's worth the price and pretty good for that team's first foray into VNs. I wish SE hadn't just sent it out to die, though.
What is that translation
Maggot Baits, a true nukige for true men.
Warning: lots of KINO (and screaming women) INBOUND
Euphoria was better but I agree that MG was amazingly Kino at times.
None, I need to find a dating sim moege to play.
I'm in the mood for something silly and lighthearted. Anyone have any recommendations?
Preferably released in the last 5 years or so.
