Wow those production values are shit. Who made this? I want to DDOS their stream for making this absolute shit tier garbage. Literally looks like a shitty high school stage show.
He is the kind of guy who would donate $3000 to get a girl to say his name then get incel rage when she calls ber boyfriend into the room to show him how much she just made.
>Conquers Barovia and Castle Ravenloft >Invites his brother Sergei to live with him >His oneitis Tatyana thinks he's old >Sergei marries Tatyana >Kills his Sergei on their wedding day >Tatyana kills herself rather than look Strahd in the eye >Gets killed by guards >Dark powers plane shift Barovia to the Demi-plane of Dread >He has to "live" through losing his oneitis every 20 years or so as an immortal undead monster >He rules all of Barovia but can't leave
I didn't pay attention to his gay 5e lore. This is from the Tome of Strahd found in the back of I6 - Ravenloft.
>I didn't pay attention to his gay 5e lore.
You didn't have to, what you posted is identical to his 5e lore. The only thing 5e's done is ditch the weirder post-module stuff from the 2e and 3e versions of Ravenloft, like Strahd going to war with Azalin.
> But it's in a 5ed book, so it's gay because I don't like 5ed.
Honestly though, other than the reprint of Curse of Strahd basically turning vistani from two-dimensional Hammer Horror gypsies into two-dimensional "noble savage" gypsies, I don't see the grounds for butthurt.

They really couldn't have drawn any other face for a ancient vampire lord? I get that prettyboy sells more but look at castlevanias take on drac, the man is boyishly handsome but aged.
Gotta say you pointing it out really did make me realize just how perfect of a depiction they had here.
Legitimately, other anons already posted that 5E isn't all that different for the shit that people give it, but honestly, this is the biggest crime. Don't want short hair Bela Lugosi knockoff? Fine. Just do Castlevania. That's literally how I imagined him the whole campaign, and I'm pretty sure that my DM used it as a token, too. But the now official/"canon" look is not my favorite, and that really does nail it.
His problems were hubris, envy, and obsession.
He was a warlord, fighting off his country's enemies for decades. Spends so long fighting that by the time peace is acheived he has spent his entire life fighting instead of having sex or enjoying anything.
His military ability and his obsession with winning causes him to never learn basic humility, or even that some things we want are unattainable, no matter how hard we work towards them.
Then he falls in obsession with his brother's fiance. Not love really. He seems more obsessed with her than wanting her as an equal.
It can be difficult for someone who didn't experience young love to look at others who have it now and accept that the opportunity for that has passed them by. It's hard to get rejected by the person you desire. It's agonizing to surrender to reality and accept that you won't get what you want.
Strahd takes that distress, envy, and lust to its maximum extreme. Why should my brother have it, when I've sacrificed my youth, my body, and oceans of blood for my land and people? I deserve it and he doesn't so now he must die and I must convince her she's mine now. Of course she would rather die than be with a monster. Off the castle walls she drops and it was all for nothing
And that's the tragedy. If this person could have an iota of insight, just a speck or self reflection, or even just recognize that some actions are never worth the cost then the entire story changes. Strahd could have accepted Tatiana's rejection and still have been loved by his people, married any other woman in his kingdom, and been a ruler to his people. But that would be too much like surrender. If he was able to do that he never would be punished in the hell that is the Demiplane of Dread in the first place. So now he tries to make it right time and time again, and he fails time and time again. If he just gave up he would finally be free. And he never will
Remember, anons, if the people in your gaming group don't want to frick Strahd, you're playing the adventure wrong!
I've been told this multiple times over the last decade.
He's basically incel with a nasty case of oneitis.
Strahd is the opposite of incel. He can (and does) have literally anyone he wants, except for his brother's wife.
This.
He put the pussy on the pedestal
Actually this, but also he has big incel energy despite his harem of loyal prostitutes.
5e writers mostly. He was a fine villain in AD&D.
He was the 5th edition version, which is always a problem.
My man!
incel
becoming a vampire fricks you up
Why does he have pointy ears, wasn't he a human in life?
Giving vampires pointy ears is a very old staple of the genre, going back at least as far as Count Orlock in Nosferatu.
Vampires having pointed ears (and other uncanny traits) is even older than that.

it's actually a pretty cool flick, expand your horizons
>doesn't watch german silent films
absolute state of this board
I did type out "at least", did I not?
You did, but why exercise reading comprehension when one can be a worthless pedant? It's the reddit way.
It isn't meant to be a correction, just a confirmation that yes, it's very old.
When will you be going back?
Vampires have pointy ears because they have batlike traits.
That's also why they get long fingers and upturned noses.
Undeath's borin innit?
Only if you let it be.
the crooked wine glass foot
Holding that wine a little zesty. Might have another Supreme gentleman on our hands.
Midlife crisis and his little brother being a shitter who abandoned his family duty to run off with a peasant girl
He is the kind of guy who would donate $3000 to get a girl to say his name then get incel rage when she calls ber boyfriend into the room to show him how much she just made.
Undead
No heartbeat
Can't even fap over his brother's wife
Will probably troon soon

>>Gets killed by guards
Why would his own guards kill him?
>module lore
He became a vampire and they saw him
>book and extended lore
They were actually hired assassins
Thank you.
>I didn't pay attention to his gay 5e lore
Its pretty much exactly the same
> But it's in a 5ed book, so it's gay because I don't like 5ed.

>noble
Were they supposed to be? My party has currently put aside the whole "escape Barovia" thing to help Van Richten exterminate the Vistani.

Ayami Kojima is the GOAT.
Yes, he really is the idea dracul

I think Vlad von Carstein isn't a bad idea either if you want a more monstrous look. Minus the armor of course.

He's bored and wants a challenge from extraplanar victims, but he's too prideful to ever let them win, so he's also a dirty cheater

Wasn't a cute girl.
Whoever sells chalices for villains must be filthy rich, goddamn those frickers do love them.
