Black Flag. Best story? No. Everyone either goes insane or backstabs you. Best gameplay? Yes. It's astounding how Skull & Bones ripped off the game, yet doesn't have as many features as the game.

One thing you'll eventually catch on to is that certain games are hated by absolute morons on Ganker (the vast majority of people here). Usually due to platform differences. The only reason I disliked Syndicate was that it allowed you to take over London at low levels, but then forces you into instanced areas where your city-wide gang has no influence.
Unity > Ezio Trilogy > Black Flag > Odyssey > Rogue > 1 > 3 > Origin > Syndicate > Valhalla > Mirage
I think Shadows will be pretty good, even if there is the historical inaccuracy that Yasuke was a samurai and not just a basic ass retainer under Oda's service because big Black personman inspired fear. I just hope they don't pull a vinland saga and have Naoe become Yasuke's desciple after he raids her village, as seen in the trailer. Based on who her father is, she should already be highly trained.

It's not an adventure because the game is literally played by itself.
The combat system is terrible, luckily it is only mandatory in the tutorial and will never be used again during the game.
It's definitely not stealth because all assassination missions just jump on the target and run away.
The history is ok and the architecture of the cities is interesting, but that's it.

The most important thing Revelations does is increasing the buffer when guards are about to spot you. It was either 2 or Brotherhood where the buffer was practically zero and it was extremely unforgiving.

This has to be the most inconsistent franchise in gaming. They put put kino like 2 and black flag but then other times put out pure shite like Syndicate and Valhalla.
Assassin's Creed had a terrible impact on gaming, no wonder that the first one came out just before 2008, same year as a much better but still extremely underwhelming GTA IV. Even as a kid at that time I realized that something was off, games became slow, clunky, ugly, overscripted, but most importantly — boring. Thank God for glorious Japan that created Demon's Souls, a game that literally said "FRICK modern gaming AND Assassin's Creed AND seventh gen as a whole".
Worse, they added 2 new writers who were shit.
Original game was just Corey May, Asscreed 2 loses all the edge and mistery of the first while shitting all over plausability for capeshit hijinks.

I've played every AC game, the good and bad that comes with them.
I could not finish Syndicate mostly because of the combat. It felt janky and non impactful. Every enemy was like a punching bag
