What was the deal with these two? Were they ever given characterizations beyond "the women who look after N"?

They pretty much just existed to provide exposition on N's backstory. All we know about them is that they were orphans taken in by Ghetsis, which would make them N's foster sisters. It's implied by their Japanese titles that they were intended to be religious figures for Team Plasma, similar to N himself.
Probably leftover designs from the earlier drafts of BW's story that Game Freak didn't want to scrap.
holy shit i just remembered about them
No. The game was unfinished.
I didn't even know they had names and official art.
It's actually just concept art that was posted somewhere, there are no official quality renders of them.
I bet you didn't even notice they were redesigned between BW and BW2.
Should've been admins.
Team Plasma lacks any admin battle themes and that's a damn shame.
I've spent more time than any sane person should looking into the subject and I have no fucking clue what their deal is. There's no evidence to support this but my best guess is that the original intention for them was to literally be supernatural goddesses of love and peace.
The idea of them being religious and/or supernatural sounds almost far-fetched, but considering how weird BW ended up I can't help but wonder if there's something to it. So many loose ends and seemingly random inclusions, it would just add to the odd plot.
Same, hence why I made this. I needed answers
It's not farfetched at all, they are literally called Goddesses of Love and Peace in Japanese and a few non-English translations, it's canon.
Ghetsis probably wanted them to be propagandistic figures after N became champion.
Believe me, I think it's out there too, but when I remember that we have documents that show N's supernatural elements were toned DOWN for the final release of BW, I'm willing to entertain almost any possibility for the goddesses.
Time and time again we get inklings that Game Freak tends to start off with insanely off-the-wall concepts which progressively get shot down into more conventional forms, which is also one of the reasons I'm willing to believe XYsider wasn't completely lying about the French aliens thing.
>N's supernatural elements were toned DOWN for the final release of BW
>Game Freak tends to start off with insanely off-the-wall concepts which progressively get shot down into more conventional forms
Tell me more. I alrady know abou XYsider, I want other examples.
Well damn, I wasn't prepared to give the whole spiel but if you're interested. First of all, you've read Masuda's blog, right?
>https://www.gamefreak.co.jp/blog/dir/2011/10/index.html
Masuda translates his own blog entries into English himself, so sometimes interesting tidbits get lost in the shuffle.
TL;DR: The original conception of N was a superhuman clairvoyant character who can see the past and future. 80% of the vague nonsense N spouts about the future in BW makes perfect sense if you read it with this context but this ability is unfortunately non-canon in the current continuity.
There's some other interesting stuff there but the most valuable is the Gen 5 info. Here's the links for the Ghetsis entry too, in case you haven't seen it:

I can't really think of any more examples off the top of my head. Celebi's beta design being based on Kokopelli is my go-to confirmation that Game Freak is staffed by occult loving oddballs.
>Game Freak is staffed by occult loving oddballs.
Oh man, you have no idea (you probably do) there are so many occult subtext in Pokemon lore.
>occult subtext in Pokemon lore
Hoo boy, you know it! But I'm only one anon, there's no possible way I could catch them all. (lol) Got any fun ones to share?
>First of all, you've read Masuda's blog, right?
Haven't read every page, but yes. Too bad he doesn't update it anymore and just posts to Twitter instead. Thanks for the links.
>but this ability is unfortunately non-canon in the current continuity
Was this explicitly said, or do you only say that because the games never bring it up? I think there's a distinction to make there. They could also be saving it for a remake or a new game like PLA.
>Was this explicitly said, or do you only say that because the games never bring it up?
It's never explicitly said but I'm a pessimist and made the assumption because it's never mentioned. It seems like a big thing to conveniently never talk about but I find the idea of N finding clairvoyance such an ordinary part of his existence that he never points it out to anyone around him hilarious.
A remake or Legends game coming back to this idea is a dream so exciting I don't even dare to dream it. Fingers crossed we get to see a clairvoyant King Harmonia or twin heroes someday.
I really wish GameFreak would lean way more into the occult again. I almost feel like Gen 9 is headed that way, but they've been putting too much of a teasing of this stuff with no real substance.
I'm almost certain XYsider was being truthful by this point. It was too much that felt coincidental otherwise
I'm with
though, I'd be really interested to hear more about what you've got. If they were really meant to be goddesses like
says, that alone would be really interesting for both the game lore and just where development went.
Another example of why gen 5 is shit.
Watch The Ruin Maniac Files.
He has very good stuff, I know it's pretty shallow to just go "hey look at this video!" But i'll be honest and say I'm just not good at putting these things into words.
Whoa, this is a neat video! I'll have to watch more of this guy's content.
The "Gropius" connection he brings up in that video is interesting. In my research, I assumed "Gropius" was a reference not to the famous Bauhaus architect but his daughter, Manon Gropius. She's notable almost entirely because of a violin concerto written by Alban Berg after her death, dedicated to "the memory of an angel".
This composition is unique because its intent was to reconcile the principles of diatonicism and dodecaphony: basically colorful chromatic notes versus atonality where black and white notes are completely equal (or in other words, grey).
Reconciling black, white and grey... sounds topical for BW, doesn't it? And just up Masuda's alley as a composer.
But now that I've heard the Masonic interpretation, I can't help but wonder if the architectural reference was correct. Guess we'll never know without asking Masuda himself.
Thank you for sharing that video. Even without words, having a nice conversation on Ganker with people who can appreciate the finer points of Pokemon is a rare and enjoyable change of pace.
>greatest pokemon video i've ever seen on youtube
>uploader barely has 10k subs
What an insane world we live in. Thanks for puttting me on to thsi awesome piece of content anon
Glad you liked it, I actually found out about this channel on this board from some other anon.
Adding to the other replies, thanks so much for linking this channel. It's amazing how much stuff seems to have been planned for years and expanded on in the remakes and later gens. Really wish Game Freak got to spend more time on these games so they could fully explore these aspects instead of leaving leftover scraps that fans have to dig for.
One thing I'd love to learn more about is that human character in the Blaziken/Latias fusion concept art. The Pokemon is fascinating but I've always been more interested in the girl.
Echoing the others, but this is incredible stuff. I'll deep dive on his videos, thanks anon!
I don't know, but it's heavily implied that they fucked him, a lot.
nice
His sex slaves
>What was the deal with these two?
They are sex incarnate
I thought they were N's wives
May as well be.
they are my wives
They are Hilbert's sex slaves.
