WHAT was the gimmick with this boss? He just fricking rolls at you and falls on his ass. There has to be more to it.

>the gimmick
You could shoot down the jars with bodies hanging above the arena, distracting the boss, so you could attack it while it's eating. Or something like that.
I never even realized that was a thing
>You could shoot down the jars with bodies hanging above the arena, distracting the boss, so you could attack it while it's eating. Or something like that.
Does DS1 have even a FRACTION of the environment interaction DS2 offers? Talk about a quantum leap in quality!
No, none of the other souls games do anything with environment interaction. They're pretty static. You have the level, boss arena,...and that's it. DS2 has destructible environments and elemental status effects. Eleum Loyce changes from a blizzard to a fully explorable level. Boss arenas can be adjusted. DS2 was first and foremost an adventure game before 'hitting the roll button at the right time' game like all the others.
Enemies can also open doors
DS2 is unironically the best of the 3 dark souls games
Actually no, no other DaS even bothered
if only the game part was actually good
my god DS2 really has too much random shit I never found out about
In my time we used to call that SOVL and DS2 was full of it.
that's actually kind of awesome. it's a shame that the boss is so physically incompetent that you scarcely need to do that
perfect representation of dark souls 2 as a whole
You spelled my mother's queef chapel wrong.
I can't help but burst out laughing every time I see this fat frick. Just LOOK at him. What were they thinking?
buddy that's my wife
he built up a pretty large smuggling organization
I love this boss because he's so cute. I feel bad for killing him. Too bad Miyahackzi can't make any fun bosses in his games, everything has to be ''forgive me zanzibart'' redditdark circlejerk.
You are such a secondary it's insane. Not a single independent thought in your head, pure cultural osmosis.
Being a secondary to Soulslop really is a compliment more than anything.
Imagine being so contrarian that you openly admit you prefer shit just because it makes you "le different"
Dark Souls 2 has 40 bosses. 1 being a meme boss doesn't mean anything.
>1
I'm gonna say it.
Gimmick bosses >>>> standard rollslop bosses
Yup thats right.
Majority of the gimmick bosses are memorable to me. But the 70th roll slop boss just gets blurred with all the others. Abyss watchers is far more memorable because the way the fight starts. Had it just been a 1v1 the whole time I would not have cared. DS2 definitly was imbalanced here by having mostly just gimmick bosses. But the few not shit bosses stand out that much more. Elden ring was definitely missing puzzle bosses. Instead it was mostly just bosses with long combos and flashy moves. Other than like the magic moose and a few others few bosses in ER are memorable to me.
>abyss watchers
>good
Being memorable is not equal nor an indication of something being good.
Sorry to break it to you, but Abyss Watchers is a "rollslop" boss, as you put it.
Abyss Watchers is a "sprint up, spam R1 and win" boss. A recurring theme in DS3.
Preach, brother. We need to return to gimmickino...
you can shoot the pots hanging from the ceiling and they'll damage it
- Knock down jars with corpses
- Clothes melting vore
Doesn't he stick you up his ass like a bar of soap?
you stick bars of soap up your ass?
How else are you gonna clean it?
As other person said the jars above have bodies for him to munch on. He's weak to thrusting attacks. I'm sure theres more we could say about him but its really not an interesting encounter nor does it really need any gimmicks the enemy is easy to defeat.
janny representation.
jabba the hut
There are 2
>1
Unique grab that unequips your armor
>2
Shoot down pots do distract him, he heals a bit but you can outpace him
Most bosses in souls games tend to have some gimmick, its just that the later ones the gimmick is just a part of the fight, and doesnt surround all the encounter on it.
Dark Souls 2 always felt like an adventure story to me, much more so than the other games.
Difficulty and intricately designed boss fights are great - but given the amount of variety in 2 in particular, I was fine with some bosses being much more basic and easy
literally impossible
The first time I fought him he barely did anything so I got greedy & just spammed the frick out of him & right when his health was a sliver he rolled over & 1 shot me. I give him credit for baiting me into complacency, I did not expect his attack to be that strong.
I guess you could say looking pathetic is itself a skill of the boss.
DSlop 4 should have a boss that hard counters rolls, like a giant basketballer skeleton that picks you up and dunks you down a well
He's like 99% of the DS2 bosses in that he doesn't have a gimmick and is just a doormat to be stepped on for easy souls. Even if you do consider the bodies a gimmick, he's like most of them in that he's just slow, clunky, and gets punished for nearly everything.
The gimmick bosses were things like the poison b***h, the chariot, final boss (the curse clouds), and that expansion boss where you had to find the knights prior to the fight. For these bosses, you must / should interact with these mechanics to beat them, as ignoring them and just evading/attacking will likely cause issues.
The few bosses with decent mechanics / speed were like Fume Knight and Alonne, maybe the Pursuer if you're brand new to Souls games.
SOUL
This happened to me and I beat him with firebombs
>only eats inorganic substances
what kind of life form is this
>magic it from distance
nothing personnel, sluggy
He has a hot vore undressing mechanic.
he's a funny slug boss haha
why aren't you laughing?
Just fought this little guy yesterday. It’s nice to get a breather between tougher bosses.
>between tough bosses
>he's between skeleton lords and mytha
He's easier than the pursuer, chariot, mytha, najka, ruin sentinels, flexile sentry, rotten, lost sinner, and freja
Harder than last giant, dragonrider, dragonslayer, the rats, and magus
same as skeleton lords ig.
My this IS hard if you're a dolt and don't drain the poison like me
it's just generic "he's bad because he's fat" japanese rhetoric. for some reason they still think it's funny to make fun of someone for their weight
He's an allegory for fat people and their relentless greed, while also showing their general incapability. Otherwise a good boss i guess. I honestly think DS2 was the peak of the series.
very organic thread, DS2troony discord, very organic thread
suddenly EVERYONE likes this game (with most posts being exactly one minute apart, you think I didn't notice?), and specifically the objectively worst boss that was unanimously shitted on since this game came out
slit your throat
New ip here
Das2 is the best game elden ring is goyslop dark souls 3 is forgettable and boring
You're also gay and ynbaw lol
>New ip here
negative IQ moment
Dude they're toys made for entertainment
Fun? You remember that Ganker? Joy?
obsessed
Death by a hundred cuts, the game.
I don't mind easy bosses. If I replay DS2, do I feel unhappy when I reach Covetous Demon? No. I'm happy to fight him. Give the old slug a spanking. He's got some funny moves. He can even kill you if you have weak HP and cop the roll. There's absolutely nothing wrong with it. He's not a star boss but he's OK.
The other day, I learned you could fight Darklurker as your first boss so I'll try doing that soon. I also realized that it's scaled way lower than what I originally thought it was at. It has less HP than Velstadt and Demon of Song and some of the great ones, it felt like a superboss but ig not.
>going to grind out 1 million souls without killing a single boss
madman
Isn't it 2 mil in SOTFS?
You can just parrywalk past the shrine of winter using the new method
That’d take longer to set up than just getting the souls
>My this
Mytha*
I think I stroked out there for a second
you can just say it was autocorrect, everybody is tired of mocking phoneposters by 2024
I'd be less concerned for myself if it were autocorrect
hey what up
Oh hey, Maldron, what's up.
>This was an "indefensible" lore breaking rehash but having a fricking extra Godrick named Godefroy in Elden Ring was just par for the course
Can we finally admit the miyazaki bonus is real?
Huh?
Nobody complains about the Seal Demon, actually the Mauldron encounter with it is considered one of the good parts of this DLC. I've seen Godefroy tossed around time and time again, nobody shuts up about Godefroy.
SOVL
I think the game would be better if you had to use the gimmick
>you enter the boss room by being eaten
>start with no equips
>can bait his rolls into knocking down the jars, upon which he will go eat the remains and be vulnerable
>throws up your equipment bit by bit as you damage him
Or pursuer
>doesn’t die if you deplete his health bar
>just enters a state of regeneration
>has to hit him with a ballista to stop his regenerating
>then can beat him normally
Or Mythra
>poison actually covers the entire arena
>has to light windmil or do the fight while poisoned
Or ship fight
>drastically increases the water level so you’re forced into not being able to roll much quicker
Or the lady in the dark room
>if no light fire, she actually turns invisible
With the game as is, the bosses are too weak so the gimmicks are just wasted when you can just slap them around like normal
All DS2 bosses are shit so far, I just killed the big ass spider, and it was an absolute fricking disappointment, some bosses aren't even bosses at all, like, just a bunch of rats or how about 3 armored guys with the absolute same moveset and then my favorite, 3 mages and a bunch of shitty slow zombies in a small room.
DS2 is pretty shit.
That was always the case
>one big guy that becomes a regular enemy later
>same thing with but with dogs
>how about some platforming in your action game
>i summon copies of myse-acckkk
I'm not against bosses becoming regular enemies in later stages of the game, I actually think that's cool.
Stop talking about Ds2. It sucks
Better fight than gay anime flippy bullshit or generic boss that looks like a tree and screeches #5000
