Unity, hated it at first, it was a buggy mess that prevented me from completing several missions as npcs would bug out, but the second time for some reason it was less buggy and actually fun to play, has the best parkour out of all AC games for sure, also got it for free when Notre Dame burned down

    i'm playing III right now.

I just finished the Ezio trilogy a few days ago. They have not aged anywhere as well as I remembered (haven't played them since they came out).
Honestly, I was king of shocked how bad they all were, especially Revelations. The mechanics are just very shallow as is the gameplay in general for all the Ezio games. That said, II is the worst of them, it's aged the poorest with Brotherhood being the only game that aged reasonably OK. Revelations though felt like a step down from brotherhood in scope and scale and Constantinople was an uninteresting setting despite the historical context. The Altair story stuff was the only memorable part of the game and his VA was awful.

III so far has been an absolute slog to get through as well. It's not terrible, but it's clearly a step down from the setting of the previous games and it suffers a lot from it, but hey at least it introduced the naval combat which is improved upon in black flag. At this point though I'm already burned out on these games again and might not even continue to black flag. III is just very offputting. Conner is an uninteresting, poorly voice acted, stupid character with hardly any personality. Ezio truly is the best protagonist of these games.

    1. I only ever played 1, nothing I saw about the series going forward made me want to go out of my way to play more of it. As far as I'm aware the series refuses to advance the modern assassin plotline and keeps shoving the protagonist back into the animus. It's a hanging, unresolved plotline that they should've never introduced in the first place if they're going to keep fricking dancing around it and doing nothing with it.
You can have your ancient assassin stories, they're generally neat, I like them, but the fact they're tied to some overarching bullshit set in modern times is the biggest thing weighing them down.

AC3 on wii u back in 2014. It was my first in the series and I remember feeling disappointed it actually took place in the modern day, and that the past was all simulation or whatever. Still, I remember liking it a lot. I didn’t play a lot of open world games then, so I really took my time exploring Boston, bumping into people in the crowds, getting lost in the wilderness and wandering the smaller towns like Lexington. Playing as a native american was just cool. The most memorable part is where you’re commanding a garrison in the battle against the british. haven’t played an AC ever since

        >Rogue is better written than Black Flag
You must be out of your mind.
        >Shay acts like Achilles sent him out knowing he will die when he can literally listen to Adewale and Achilles talk about how one of their men died to a freak earthquake and they don't know what's going on.
        >Despite spending months at sea Shay decides the best course of action is bursting into Achilles' room and shouting that he was trying to kill Shay.
        >Achilles, instead of listening to anything Shay says and trying to figure out what's going on, immediately shouts about rank despite thinking Shay was going to get an Apple and nothing he's saying makes any sense if it was an Apple.
        >Liam, Hope, and Achilles don't go out to talk to Shay at all for an entire day after his outburst despite not seeing him for months and he just said an earthquake killed a bunch of people and nearly killed him.
        >Instead they all prepare a bunch of Assassins to ambush Shay for some absurd reason and wait until he betrays them because why exactly?
        >Shay for some reason thinks Hope is going to poison all of Boston or New York or wherever it was when he literally hears her talking about using it on Templar higher ups specifically when he was still with them and she'd have the least reason to lie to him, not civilians.
        >Shay doesn't immediately leave the Templars once he finds out Haytham was killing civilians with smallpox-laden blankets despite spending the entire time killing Assassins because he thought they were killing civilians.
        >Instead he not only continues with killing Assassins and espousing the Templar dogma, but raises his grandchildren as Templars.
        >Haytham isn't even remotely close to the same character that he was in 3 despite the events of Rogue taking place after his intro in 3.

Rogue is one of the worst written games with the worst written protagonists next to Kassandra in Odyssey and Eivor in Valhalla.

The Greek one. I just have a huge boner for the ancient Greek and had a good time despite the bullshit AC shows.
The Ezio trilogy and 3 were the only ones I actually want to revisit, despite Relevations being the worst of the Ezio ones and 3 being a slog at times. I played 4 and Unity too, but black flag was so bad aside from the addicting sailing gameplay and Unity an all around turd that I never intend to try any other game of thats series anymore, except maybe a roman one.
Damn, 2 could have been a masterpiece if they just made the mechanics deeper. Give the estate an actual economy to run, make climbing harder than holding 3 buttons and improve the fighting mechanics and that thing could be known as a real must play. Its just a little push they would have needed and instead the developers turned around and and said "Nope, never better than this."
