They are consumers they have no attachment to the games or their contents outside of what being around them does to their image, the closest equivalent probably would be those girls that wear band t-shirts but don’t listen to them and then get offended when people try to talk about the band. it was very small at first but i remember some of the users suddenly began clamping for harsher bans for sexist posts.
the mods in charge agreed and neogaf quickly descended into a feminist forum. this was also when gamergate was rising.
they promoted anita and other women empowerment shit which made the game devs+journalists who visited the forum take note and help spread it through the industry.
funny thing was one of the mods who was for hardcore feminist bans got arrested for child porn.
