What is the difference between them, besides the title? I played Gladiator on PS2 when I was young and then Deadlocked on PCSX2, and I don't remember any difference.
Activision owns it or leases it, I forgot which. They made Enter the Dragonfly, made some GBA games for a bit along with Crash, then tried making a new group of games with Cynder and Spyro which were these open world things no one wanted.
Skylanders got big and Spyro was the frontman for that so he was stuck in Skylanders hell for years. When Toys to Life died because Disney Infinity pulled out of the running they did the Trilogy and here we are.
Rumors were that they'd make a new Spyro game ala Crash 4, but then Crash 4 bombed, and now Spyro is just in CTR and that's it.
I believe it's owned by Activision now.
Damn. That sounds like a mess. I thought maybe when the Reignited trilogy was released that maybe they were testing the waters to try and recover the series after the weird spot Skylanders put it into, but I guess that wasn't it at all. What a mess.
>maybe they were testing the waters to try and recover the series after the weird spot Skylanders put it into
They kinda were, but again, they did Crash 4 and that bombed hard so they probably walked it back. There were rumors at the time that because of the Trilogy's success it would lead to a new Spyro game but then nothing happened.
That makes sense. The Reignited trilogy also looked like it had it's fair share of problems so I can imagine that may have had some trouble taking off as well. If that and the Crash 4 had issues then it would make sense if both series got shelved over it. What about that kart racing game? Didn't they do a new one of those not long ago? Was that just a one off testing the waters as well?

CTR was fine if I remember right, it's mainly Crash 4 which was the issue.
yeah. the trilogy is actually on sale right now on Nintendo for $15, but I don't know how good it is. I'd just emulate the original if you want to play it.

It was fun but it gets blown out of the water by similar games. I never really played Spyro and the only Ratchet and Clank I played was 2 and it was pretty fun.
I don't have anything against this game but it is extremely funny to me that they repurposed the lanky zombie dudes from Resistance 3 into the enemies in this game.
Probably Going Commando. 1 was great, but 2 had more variety. 3 was great as well. Deadlocked was great, but due to the story it was more limited than the previous ones.
What makes 2 the best in my opinion is that it's 1, but more fleshed out. It has tons of variety and the levels felt more unique. They felt larger than the others and more alive.
I looked them up on wikipedia, and all their games are shit with spyro perhaps being the only decent one, but who really cares about spyro when super mario 64 and crash bandicoot existed at the time?
I like parkouring around but come on man every story mission makes you do combat and the combat fricking sucks.
even the melee. how the frick did they make the crowbar feel so much worse than the wrench in ratchet and clank?
Oh. This. It felt great with the movement and gunplay but then you see the open world, toothless writing and le diverze characters and realise it's not going to be much of a memorable experience. Dropped it right after clearing few missions. Sometimes putting good mechanics in just doesn't cut it. I can stand Borderlands-tier cringe but boring missions and side-activities murder it.
I'd say
Spyro 1>2>3
Since childhood I thought Spyro 2 was better but replaying all of these I enjoyed simple platforming and exploration of the first game much more than what followed next. Spyro 3 felt more like a busywork because of all the minigames and other gimmicks (same thing with Crash 3).
Ratchet 3>1>Gladiator>A Crack in Time>ToD>2>RA>Nexus>QfB>Spin-off shit>Remake
Fight me on that one. Ratchet 2 had too many badly balanced minigames and the guns didn't feel as nice as in the first game and, later, the third (and its superior control scheme). Also, Rift Apart is literally A Crack in Time with nothing of significance added, promotional jabber about the power of PS5 and its SSD is sheer bullshit.
Liked Spidey game for how humble it was in presenting the classic SM story and combat that doesn't use long combos and instead lets utilize various moves, environment and gadgets freely (which is far away from Arkham shit) and didn't like it for magnetizing fists of the enemies (which is exactly like Arkham shit) and all the agenda they've started pushing after successful "safe" first game.
Nah, they very clearly get to pick what they want to do outside of maybe being forced to do a R&C game every once in a while. They specifically went for their choice of a Marvel property when Sony was asking studios and picked Spider-Man which is why they now have even more on their plate after Spidey exploded. I imagine Wolverine was their choice as well.
We also know Sucker Punch is the same way where they get to choose what they want to do and they fight for making new stuff. inFamous Second Son was basically rushed out the door because they were promised they could do a new IP (Ghost of Sushi) after they finished it and First Light.
NTA but 3 most of the planets consisted of approaching a kiosk, starting a linear combat mission, and then doing the following missions in order until you got all the planet's rewards. Not a lot of open exploration.
People who were playing it as a casual 3rd person shooter liked it, people who played it as Mario 64 with guns hated it.
3 is the best of the PS2 ratchet games.
For whatever reason, 2gays really get a hard-on for disliking 3.
Nobody knows why, they are probably mentally ill and actually like the yeti.
I'll be honest
i never beaten the final crack in time puzzle to get the final golden bolt, nor was i able to beat the secret boss on extreme difficulty
2 > 1 > 3 is the true Spyro ranking.
Growing up I played 2 the most but I always believed that 3 was best "because it had more." And it does have more, that's true, but on a replay all of that "more" is not of very good quality. The skateboarding minigames control like ass, the alternative characters just straight up aren't as fun as Spyro, Sparx levels suck, there's too many minigames and levels feel extremely short because half of it is tied up in all of this extra shit instead of solid platforming.
Spyro 2 is just top tier level after top tier level, Spyro is fun to play, minigames are cool and aren't frequent enough to get tedious.
Spyro 1 is a bit jank but is overall still a great game, it walked so that 2 could run.
The first Ratchet and Clank is probably their best.
Well with this pattern I guess I have to say ratchet 4
Lmao I didn't even notice.
That would be Deadlocked/Gladiator, which is actually my 2nd favourite. Honestly every non-spinoff in the series is anywhere from B-tier to S+ tier.
Europe loves 4 with its bastardized localization. In case anyone hasn't read the news lately, Europe is also moronic
What is the difference between them, besides the title? I played Gladiator on PS2 when I was young and then Deadlocked on PCSX2, and I don't remember any difference.
Same game. Europe just changed the name to Gladiator because...Europe
I mean it's sort of like a Gladiator arena, so I think it fits. It's more of a gameshow-y thing than fighting a lion, though.
You do realize the majority of Europe does not speak english yes?
wrong
no
Other PAL countries had it named as Gladiator too.
agree. first game may not have had strafing but it had the best art direction, level design, characters and writing.
The Second R&C and it's not even close.
Ratchet & Clank 3 on PS2. Not PS3/Vita.
Spider-Man 2
The logo change occured when SM1 came out, so this is an invalid response to the question.
WAS
spyro
TIL that Insomniac made Spyro... I'm actually moronic.
Insomniac's Spyro and Ratchet & Clank was the other half of the ying yang to Naughty Dog's Crash Bandicoot and Jak & Daxter
What happened to Spyro anyway?
They developed it but the IP had always belonged to Universal who ran it into the ground
Damn. That sounds like a mess. I thought maybe when the Reignited trilogy was released that maybe they were testing the waters to try and recover the series after the weird spot Skylanders put it into, but I guess that wasn't it at all. What a mess.

Ratchet 3, either version is acceptable because Ps3 makes up for shittiness with exclusive cheat codes.
Spyro 2, R&C 3, and Resistance: FoM.
>spyro 2
frick off it was the most forgettable of the 3 games despite 3 being the one where they got creatively bankrupt
>being a contrarian mad moron on le 4skins is my personality and i have to comment on every fricking post
LOOOOOOOL how funny
1 > 3 > 2. change my mind
I prefer 1 over the others because the vibes are immaculate, but 2/3 are improvements in pretty much every other way.
It was fun but it gets blown out of the water by similar games. I never really played Spyro and the only Ratchet and Clank I played was 2 and it was pretty fun.
Sunset Overdrive was cool.
Which similar games? Looking for more games like it çause it was a lot of fun. Not a massive fan of the dialogue, but loved the rest.
After bomb rush cyberfunk I don’t really have any desire to replay sunset overdrive. BFC is very good.
I don't have anything against this game but it is extremely funny to me that they repurposed the lanky zombie dudes from Resistance 3 into the enemies in this game.

dunno, never ever played any of their games
You're missing out, they're a lot of fun... except maybe the most recent, but oh well.
I looked them up on wikipedia, and all their games are shit with spyro perhaps being the only decent one, but who really cares about spyro when super mario 64 and crash bandicoot existed at the time?
Going Commando or the first Spyro
yes unironically
I like parkouring around but come on man every story mission makes you do combat and the combat fricking sucks.

I never played Ratchet and Clank so I'm going with Spyro 1
One of the Ratchet and Clank games I guess but it's not like I want to replay it. Spyro has some nice ps1 visuals.
A mid studio now stuck making marvel slop.
I'd say
Spyro 1>2>3

so is insomniac designated to making capeshit games forever?
Ratchet and Clank is still getting milked.
But I guess even that classifies as capeshit on some level when you think about it.

Ratchet and Clank 1 or 2. Ratchet and Clank 3 was probably their most disappointing. Such a massive step down from the first 2 games.
What's bad about 3? Recently played 1 and 2 but I've been playing random games to avoid feeling burned out when trying 3.
NTA but 3 most of the planets consisted of approaching a kiosk, starting a linear combat mission, and then doing the following missions in order until you got all the planet's rewards. Not a lot of open exploration.

There was a decently big youtuber who made one of those longass videos on why RaC3 was asss, so that's probably why
Spyro 2 > 1 > 3
Ratchet 3 >= 1 > 2 > DL
I'll be honest
i never beaten the final crack in time puzzle to get the final golden bolt, nor was i able to beat the secret boss on extreme difficulty
I did both of those things except for the second one I didn't use any armor.
The second one took me 2 days.
Ratched & Clank 2: Going Commando
>They made a mistake bringing us here, Clank.
2 > 1 > 3 is the true Spyro ranking.
