The list goes on. The only thing that really carries a similar spirit is certain roblox games and some ridiculously obscure game communities. Forum games are just completely dead now that Discord sucked most gaming forums into the aether.
It's not even a nostalgia thing, there's just something about hopping onto a forum or a random webpage and finding a fun game to waste the evening with. If you were lucky, they were really good and kept you going for weeks or months.
