Raiding scene is way smaller on FF. Raiding is all WoW players have.

WoW endgame is arena fights and redoing same raids with dungeons on higher difficulty (which is beefier enemies and item drops have slightly better stats).

Raiding has been the worst gearing path in WoW for a while now. However, more fights, alts, 20 people per raid vs 8 and AotC sellers running multiple times supposing those are heroic numbers. Plus I'd wager a smaller proportion of FF raids get logged just because it needs ACT and it's against TOS. For FF to have a higher parse count, the raiding playerbase would have to fall off catastrophically in WoW.

Gimmick of the expansions started here, While the Garrison is not as bad, as the things that came after it's STILL just there to slow down progress just for the reason of making sure people stay subbed. This was the Expansion where the game actually started to feel like a job. Oh you did not spend X amount of time playing today? You did not download the app to your phone and used that to manage your Mission Table? Too bad, you are now forever behind on player power/progress.

I guess if all you can about is raids, sure. The Kalimdor/EK map rework fricked up a lot of the actual world, and not in the way they intended. Legion was better than Cata.

All the new zones besides the underwater one were great.
PvP was great.
Legion was complete shit. Functionally infinite grinds became a thing, some of which are tied to player power. The story went really fricking moronic and made character deaths pointless. Actually ruined Illidan, we all knew he was asspained about Tyrande, but they went out of the way to make his last words her name instead of taking one lass jab at Maive and her dog like nature. Class Halls were a neat idea, too bad they insisted on making the player the main character, and then dropping the whole idea after the expansion.

This is one of those things people have been saying about Blizzard since Starcraft/Diablo. They were impressive for the time and remained impressive through some of WoW, but these days they're just the standard. Not sure what the hype is about.
They're visually impressive still, but the actual direction got way worse. Old Blizzard cutscenes could be hit or miss outside of the visual fidelity, but the ones they nailed (Diablo 2 intro, Human v Orc in W3 intro, Thrall's Vision, the first half of the WoW intro, WotLK announcement trailer) has the absolute best choreography in all of 3D animation. Even today these ones are really effective and pretty impressive.
What changed is they are not really trying to hype people up with cool shit.

Back in BFA for the Dark Iron heritage armor the quest revolves around a cult trying to resurrect him. It ends in the Firelands, in his Boss Arena and you can see his horns/shoulder horns coming out of the Lava pool.

Rag is the first boss of WoW. People who played back then have Nostalgia for him. Not because he was a cool character, but because he is tied to many peoples first guild/raid/end game experience. He was barely a character at all back then. He still had some cool lines in the fight.
